A simple room addition design became problematic when I was trying to get bids from contractors. Lack of details and an unbuildable plan from the architect caused delays and required the contractors to review multiple changes and update their bids. Shenon Construction remained helpful and responsive throughout the process, and their bid was very competitive. After a lot of consideration, I chose another contractor that I had previous experience with, but I would have been happy to go with Shenon otherwise.

We are so grateful to have found, and worked with, the folks at Shenon Construction. Undertaking an extensive renovation is stressful enough, doing it to a property some distance away from our first home was a scary thought. We knew that we had to find a team that we could trust to guide us through the project, do excellent work, and be fair. We absolutely found all of that in Shenon Construction. Tom, the owner, held our hand through the most critical decisions, offered fantastic suggestions (both technical and aesthetic), was very professional, communicative, and easy to talk to the whole length of the project. Tom was realistic and fair in budgeting and also in the timeline. We appreciated his transparency and his impeccable follow-through. His workers were experienced, also great at communicating, and generally excellent. I cannot recommend Shenon more. I would have never in a million years said that a large renovation could ever be a pleasant experience, but Shenon proved me wrong! The results are beautiful and we are beyond happy and pleased. We would use them again in a instant and highly recommend the entire team.

I was referred to Tom by a good friend who's worked with him before. Working with him was easy. He was straightforward and made sure I understood what the work required and if any permits were necessary. His professionalism made me comfortable in choosing his company to do our project. During the work, he kept me updated with what was going on. It actually finished faster than I expected, and the results were good too. He is also very helpful, and has a strong commitment to quality. Tom costs more to hire, but the quality is very good and can save you much headache in the future doing it well the first time.

Tom and his crew were amazing! After hearing so many nightmare construction stories we were very apprehensive on our first major remodel. After a lot of research we decided to go with Tom and we were not disappointed! Right from the start he was very patient with us, suggested great solutions that were practical, beautiful and cost effective. When the work began every single person we dealt with was punctual, communicative and clearly cared about the quality of the work they did with great attention to detail. The work was delivered on time, on budget and we are thrilled with how everything look. What a great find ... will definitely hire again!

Really great meeting. Tom was very patient with my questions, and generous with his time. I received a very detailed estimate. I am still in the process of getting further estimates, but am seriously considering Shenon Construction for my project.

We purchased a new home in the Crenshaw Manor/ West Adams / Leimert Park area and hired Shenon to handle a whole range of home renovation needs prior to us moving in. The main focus was a full kitchen and bathroom remodel. However, they handled many other jobs large and small, including a full electrical re-wiring and upgrade, carpet install in the bedrooms, new door installs (both interior and exterior), interior and exterior painting, stucco repair, several window replacements, recessed lighting installation, and an entire brand new HVAC system installation. Our only disappointment was that we didn't have enough money to replace all the windows we wished to do. Tom, Marcelo and the crew were respectful and professional at all times. Our neighbors also made comment about how courteous they were, which we found great considering the crew was working on the house for months. We made several adjustment and changes along the way and Tom was always great about accommodating our requests. In fact, the project was still turned around on time and on budget, even after we made some changes. That was great because we were about to welcome our second child and time was of the essence. They met the deadline they promised! The company was up front about pricing and billing and the one time we noticed a minor discrepancy it was handled quickly. We're very pleased with all the work and Shenon has been great about coming back to handle minor things that need attention, and even installing a kitchen item that was extremely late to be delivered. All in all, we can't wait to hire Shenon again.

We hired Tom to complete a 110 SF addition to our small home to add a bathroom to our master bedroom, as well as several other renovations: replace the roof on house, garage and patio; remove an interior wall to open up the kitchen; replace tile in the kitchen; replace a sliding glass door with French doors; exterior painting on home and garage; replace several windows with retrofit vinyl windows; replace our gas water heater; and painting of dining room and kitchen. The 110 SF addition ultimately resulted in a completely new master bedroom and bathroom, and I’ve attached some pictures of the final result. I obtained construction plans from a third party prior to hiring Tom, with Tom pulling permits for the approved plans and completing all construction thereafter. Initial cost was $91k and 3-4 months to complete. I’ll update cost when it’s wrapped completely, but only a few changes due to unforeseen issues. The job began mid-October 2018 and complete February 2019, so right on schedule. Most of the work has been done for the last month, but the rainy season caused some delays. Overall I appreciated Tom’s honesty, professionalism and responsiveness. His project manager Adam was involved later in the project and was similarly professional and responsive in all my dealings with him. All the subs hired by Tom were great, respectful of our home and easy to work with. My wife and I are detail oriented people, and while I’m sure Tom and Adam may have been annoyed at times with specific questions or requests we had during the project, they never let it show and were always willing to explain things and meet us to go over something if needed. We solicited five bids for our project and while Tom wasn’t the cheapest, he was not the most expensive either, and was still a good deal overall. His proposal was more detailed than most and he was open to adding additional detail to items as we requested. He provided a ton of references and my wife and I contacted several of them. All had great things to say and gave us great advice. One advised us that Tom at times makes assumptions about what his client would know. Since Tom is very patient and willing to answer as many questions as you have, it’s important that you speak up and ask questions, so as to avoid issues that may arise. Tom was good at pushing us to buy items needed during construction (e.g., flooring, fixtures, paint colors, etc.), but timing purchases can sometimes be challenging even so, due to timing of subs, inspections, and weather. Tom and his subs were very flexible through it all. I would definitely hire Tom again in the future should we have another big job to complete, and will recommend him to any friends and family in need of similar services. I’ve included some pictures of the master bedroom and bathroom and the new French doors. Poor weather at the moment, otherwise would include some of the exterior, which looks great as well. Will add later if possible.

I was contacted by a rep from Shenon Construction. However, based on our conversation she (not me, the potential client) determined my job was too small, so she recommended I deal with some other company. I was disappointed in the response.

Extremely well. Price was on the high range of quotes but worth every dollar. punctual, detailed and experienced. very good manners and calmness during renovation. able to move his trades/subs around based on work amendments. will be hiring for future projects.

I found Shenon Construction to be timely, reliable, and responsive. Whatever questions or concerns that I had were immediately addressed. There are really beautiful focal points in the kitchen and I was impressed by the craftsmanship and care that was put into those projects. I was incredibly happy with Shenon Construction and highly recommend them. Oh, my kitchen is also incredible!

Tom's estimate was on the high side but his reviews were good so we went with his company. Note that all materials used (tile, lights, vanity etc) must be purchased separately from the construction estimate. His people were punctual and skillful, always respectful of our time and very clean. Our house has white carpet so they laid down a protective covering and removed their shoes too. The work went relatively quickly and was completed in a decent time frame. Then we had to hire an outside contractor that Tom recommended to do the glass shower enclosure, and that was another $$$. The final result was very nice and Tom was very easy to get hold of when we had some minor corrections that needed to be taken care of. Overall we're very happy with the job and would hire him again, despite the extra cost and hassle of dealing with an equipment supplier and a second contractor.

The remodel went great! Shenon Construction is the most responsive and focused general contractor I have ever worked with. They respond to every email, text and phone call/voicemail. Sure, the project wasn't perfect, but what building project is perfect? Our remodel was quite extensive with the removal of two load bearing walls, discovery of a cracked foundation, and the normal issues of dragging a house built in the 80s into the 21st century. We re-plumbed, we rewired, and repainted the entire first floor (over 1,000 sqft). One caveat, the project took significantly longer than anticipated; however, I attribute this to delays in materiel shipments and surprises uncovered during renovation. Not the fault of the contractor, and this can be expected. Tom and his team were also very flexible as we made modifications through the project to accommodate unpredictable conditions and last minute additions. Finally, whenever I found problems they were quickly remedied without pushback or hassle. I would definitely use Shenon Construction on another project.

The owner was incredibly professional and very knowledgeable about what he was doing, his pricing was competitive and was able to get the job done in the timely fashion… What more could you ask for?

Tom and crew was a pleasure to work with and have in our home. The craftsmanship with the kitchen and powder room is superb. When issues did arise, Tom listened to our concerns and took every effort to address. We will definitely use his team again.

I met with several general contractors and did a lot of research in advance of my huge home reno project -- remodeling an entire kitchen, 3 bathrooms, new hardwood flooring, paint, and lights throughout a 2000 sqft townhouse. Out of everyone I met, Tom seemed the most honest and straightforward about how much everything would cost (and how long it would take). Even though I had lower bids, I ended up going with Tom just because of a gut feeling. I am so glad I did. Tom and his team were super professional and communicative throughout. I can't count how many dumb questions I had during this process -- Not only were they kind and patient, they took the time to go above and beyond in explaining what they were doing and making sure to do things the right way. Any time I had a problem or concern, it was addressed right away. Any additional costs (there were very few, and most were related to new services I wanted to add) were communicated to me immediately. There were a few hiccups during the project, all related to overzealous inspectors, but there were no surprises from Tom or his team. Even with all the delays caused by the city, they completed all the work they had promised within 3 months and I was able to move in. Tom and his team went out of their way to make sure everything was done right. When I was concerned about leaks coming in through the windows (something outside the original parameters of the contract we agreed on), Tom actually had his guys do a leak test for me to alleviate my concerns. He noticed the kitchen cabinets were not closing in a certain way and had the cabinet makers come back in and fix them (I hadn't even noticed a problem). He replaced a set of painters when he said they weren't doing a good enough job -- something that I surely could not discern -- and something that he didn't need to admit. I appreciated that he was honest and forthcoming the whole time, and that he was as invested as I was in making sure every single little thing was done right. The whole team was kind and respectful of the neighbors, who gamely put up with construction for 3 months. One of my neighbors even complimented the construction team -- and asked for their contact info! It's pretty telling when you can win over the neighbors after putting up with week after week of construction noise. I've heard a lot of construction horror stories, but I only had a positive experience. I was beyond impressed by the entire team -- plumbing, electrical, finishing -- and so happy with the final result (even if I had concerns and was asking a million questions along the way). I cannot recommend Tom and Shenon Construction enough. He has been fantastic to work with over the past few months and I would not hesitate to hire him again. I hope you can tell from the before/after pictures what an absolute transformation it has been. Thanks again Tom!

Overall, we had a good experience. We added things during the project and it took a little longer than anticipated. There were some hiccups along the way which Tom and Eli always addressed. I would highly recommend Shenon Construction and would definitely hire them again. Working with Tom and Eli was a pleasure.

Tom with Shenon Construction made time for me (a new client) with only 12 hours notice and spent over 2 hours with me and my wife reviewing every aspect of our property. He turned around an estimate of work extremely quickly which was easy to read, professional, thorough, and competitive, and ultimately delivered as promised. I cannot recommend him enough for all of your renovation needs. A++

Contractor was very professional but did not hold to his word on oversight of the project. The workers were good and punctual. We also had a misunderstanding in the content of tile in the bathroom. We agreed on all walls tiled but They ended up only doing my shower and floors. Not what I asked. Very disappointed.

Tom is everything a contractor should be. He wasn't like previous companies that came out or called--He's legit. Was punctual in coming to take a look at what needed to be done. Tom had complete comprehension to my parents' circumstances. He was extremely knowledgeable with each cities ordaniances that would affect choices of what needed to be done. Was willing to work with workers of our own choosing. Came back with a bound booklet detailing options and cost to the exact penny.

Tom came out and met with me for a kitchen remodel project. I was very impressed with his knowledge and he had suggestions I had never considered. Although I did not use him for this project, I will definitely consider him for the next one.

I contacted Shenon Construction for a remodel quote. The short of it was that we could not afford to hire them, BUT I wish we could have. Tom came out to meet with my wife and I and he was fantastic. We loved his ideas, his previous work (based on photos), and his personality. After he left, my wife and I looked at each other and said, "I hope we can afford him". At any rate, if you have a remodel project and are looking for a contractor, you should talk with Tom before committing to anybody else.

Tom and his team were great! Very organized and upfront about time frame and costs. The workmanship was excellent. Attention to detail is superb! I would definitely use them again and would recommend them to friends and family!
