I had an old, dilapidated hovel in the backyard, permitted for occupation, but who would want to occupy it? Norbert Santner and his super powers to the rescue. In a few months, I had a dream house that people were fighting to occupy. I got my dream house, my dream tenant, and a steady rental income to secure my retirement. Norbert is no ordinary contractor, he is contractor, carpenter, and his entire staff all in one. He’s a perfectionist who will listen to your wishes and make them come true. He was so brilliant and so affordable people were amazed. My tenant and I were talking two days ago about how I envied him the house and especially the kitchen, I told him I had kitchen envy. He laughed and said that every time he came back to the bungalow, especially after traveling, he was just happy to come home to his beautiful house. He has never met Norbert but he feels he knows him every time he opens a drawer or walks on beautiful floors or relaxes in front of the Batchelder-inspired fireplace. There’s no easy way to describe his workmanship, it's old world and we don’t have that here anymore; the best way to explain is to show you a video. But his work must be seen and touched to be appreciated. I wish that I had had enough money to have him redo my bungalow, but it was a dream come true to have him create the replica in the backyard.

This is an unscrupulous builder, please save yourself the trouble and move on to another service provider. His name is Norbert Santner, he had done a small job on our house and based on that we felt he was qualified for more extensive work which included building a storage shed, installing a small bathroom and an outdoor deck, about 20K worth of work. I was out-of-town when he started the job and unable to oversee the layout of the deck, so we gave him a deposit check and had him start on a smaller portion of the job which was to widen our bedroom closet doorway and build the shed. Though these were his instructions my wife called from home to say that he had gone ahead and started digging up the backyard to begin work on the decking and purchasing deck supplies. I called and told him to stop the deck work immediately and only do the closet and shed as he had been instructed. With the plaster done on the closet Norbert left for five days to go work on another job, ignoring the shed. When I returned home I found the house a mess, dust and plaster everywhere, filthy shop vac in the bedroom, etc. - this is how he left it though the closet was basically done. (My wife works long production hours and was not available to clean up after him.) The backyard had 900 lbs of bagged concrete and an assorted lumber including 4x4 redwood beams. None of these purchases were approved by us and in fact he had been instructed not to get these supplies. At this point I wasn't sure if he was the guy for the rest of the work so asked if he would just build the shed and we would see about the rest. His response was to say that he was stopping the job all together. When he came to pick-up his tools he stood in our backyard and gave a rambling, self-righteous speech about how we didn't know what we wanted and he couldn't work with us. I bit my tongue and asked what he was charging for the closet, to which he presented a cashier's check for the balance of our deposit, minus labor on the closet, deck materials and time for purchasing deck materials. When I pointed out that he had not been instructed to start on the deck he changed his tune and said the materials were actually for the shed. A flat out lie. We took the bad deal just to get him off our property and be done with it. I could go on about how he put a light switch in the wrong place and was ignorant about contemporary deck materials and construction, but I'm sure by now you get the point, leave this guy out.

Norbert was fantastic and incredibly hard working and ON TIME!! Such a great attitude and attention to detail!! I met Norbert while he was helping with a wall demolition and I retained his services to rebuilt a fence instead of a new wall. His price was reasonable and he did such a good job that my neighbor hired him to do some work next week. After seeing the job on the fence I requested Norbert help me with a very difficult drainage solution and he worked with one other helper to do an excellent job. I love my grass and he preserved every blade while digging a 2 foot wide X 20 foot trench. Norbert also helped me with a couple of small touch ups around the house without any charge (prior estimates for these small items totaled $300). Give Norbert a try and he will impress.

Things went great - he came in under his estimate, and worked with our estimate. He has a large workshop in Silverlake that was very convenient for building things before they came into my space. This saved a lot of hastle in terms of dust and contruction during busy hours (ie, 9-5 for us)
