Set up appointment for a Saturday morning a week later; no one showed up, and I got no response to my initial voicemail attempt to re-set it, no response to my text message asking for an update, and then got a voicemail box full message when I attempted contact three days later. It's almost like someone died?

Horrible. The offer was Here's the Deal: The Real Deal: Restore your family heirlooms and get a break on the cost of the work with this classic offer! • $99 for $200 worth of furniture restoration, repair, or refinishing • Valid for all wooden furniture, staining, painting, decorative finishes, rebuilds, water damage repair, fire and smoke damage repair, joint re-gluing, veneers, furniture stripping, & reupholstering We first communicated by email, and I sent to Mr. Guzman two pictures of the table (from top & from side). He did not show for first appointment at 10am. I called him after 10:15 5/30, he told me something had come up. He did not say why he did not call to reschedule. We then rescheduled for 5/31 at 2PM. Details follow but Mr. Guzman basically said that the repair would cost $1,500. I told him I would not pay that. I asked what I would get for the coupon deal. He said nothing. I asked what I would get for the coupon deal & a few additional hundred dollars. He said nothing. He clearly did not fulfill the service contract which I purchased. It was an incredible insult that he would not even discuss it. He was incredibly unprofessional, and only interested in charging his price. When Mr. Guzman arrived, he looked at table (pictures of which he had received days before), and told me that the repair would require sanding, painting (what looked like inlay was only outline in a few places, as it was only veneer) and refinishing. He told me it would cost $1,500 for repair. I told him I would not pay $1,500. He repeatedly told me it would cost $1,500 & why, and I reiterated at least four times that I would not pay $1,500. I asked what I would get for the coupon value. No response. I then asked a couple of times what I would get for the coupon value and a few extra hundred dollars. No response. Our conversation ended when I pointed out that he was trying to sell me what he wanted, not what I wanted. He said that I could get a refund from Angie’s list and left. Mr. Guzman's performance is an insult to me as a client, and to Angie's list. I will now have to work on getting a refund.

I was very happy with the job and the work.

Excellent quality workmanship but I was surprised at how little a $200 value went. I purchased the $100 for a $200 value of refinishing, and tho he is a total pro and the arms of the chair look fantastic, I was surprised that the value didn't go very far as to refurbishing the exposed wood on the chair and basic cleaning of the vinyl. I was impressed by the arms when returned but it didn't look as tho the rest had been cleaned up at all and as to the vinyl. Very good work, but not in my price range for future projects.

It went very poorly. Via the Angie's Deal template, I submitted 3 proposed dates for the service. After 2 weeks of not being contacted by the service provider, I contacted Angie's List for help. I then received a call from the service provider and we scheduled a date and time for him to come pick up the chair. The service provided never showed up and I did not receive a call from the Service Provider.

It turned out it was much more than the deal. He done a beautiful job. The extra cost was for transportation to his shop. He done a good job. I am very happy with my table now.

The first attempt at repair was unsatisfactory. There were large gaps in the supposedly repaired joints which would, over a short time, become unstable again. I explained the source of my displeasure with the work and Mr. Guzman agreed to take the chairs back and re-set them to look like I had originally expected. I was pleased with the final result.

Rene did a very good job on the final finished product. He came to my home with sample upholstery, helped my pick out one that we accent the wood and took the chairs with him. He said it would take a week or less but after not hearing from him for almost 2 weeks I tried calling him but his message box was full. I sent an email and he got back to me the next day. He said the chairs were done and made an appointment for 10am on Saturday. At 10:30 am Saturday he had not arrived so I called and left a message. He called right back and said he was about 45 minutes away on another job. When I reminded him we had a 10am appointment he said sorry and that he would call me when he was on his way. He arrived about 2 1/2 hours later. He said he had forgotten but that was hard to believe since he had my chairs on his van that morning. I am very happy with my chairs; they look great and the cushioning he put in makes them so much more comfortable to sit in. But I was a bit frustrated with the poor communication.

They picked up the chairs and brought fabric samples. When they brought the chairs back, the work was absolutely beautiful, but the reupholstered chair had the fabric put on backwards. They came out again immediately and corrected the problem. I am thrilled with the work and will definitely use them again.

Everything turned out so beautiful. The 2 furniture pieces look absolutely perfect. Renee was totally professional, kept me informed of how the work was going and consulted with me about details. He treated my furniture so carefully and delivered them in perfect condition. I highly recommend Renee Guzman. He is an absolute professional

Mr. Guzman showed up on time for his evaluation of the work I needed, which was the repair of four wood chairs whose joints had loosened over the years and had become very creaky and shaky. I agreed to his estimate and he took the chairs with him. They were returned less than a week later with the joints refitted and reglued, and the chairs are now rock-solid and perfectly quiet. Beautiful job and excellent service, and I will certainly contact Mr. Guzman again if I ever need any other furniture restored.

Thoroughly pleased with the results. Mr. Guzman did a very professional job of taking the chairs apart, fully stripping and repainting the chairs with a beautiful satin black paint, then reglueing all the legs, backs and leather seats. They look like new. Wasn't cheap, but he did such a beautiful job that I felt like I really got my money's worth. He gave these lovely chairs a new lease on life. Would definitely use Mr. Guzman again for any furniture refinishing I need done. Highly recommended.

As mentioned above, Rene delivered ahead of schedule and exceeded our expectation in terms of quality and workmanship. We couldn't be happier. As a result, we are looking at other project for Rene to complete for us!

There were initial communication problems, but we finally set an appointment and Rene and his assistant came to my home and looked at the problems. A Chinese ancestor table had a broken scroll foot that needed to be restored. Also the finish on the top needed to be evened out. An oval table had bead molding missing and top damage. I had most of the missing molding, just one small section, aprox 1 inch had to be supplied by Rene. The job was not done at my home, but at Rene's shop. When the furniture was returned to me the top of the Chinese table was refinished and looked good. The broken scroll foot had been glued together, but no effort was made to restore the finish, hide the damage, or make the piece look finished. The oval table had been buffed on the top, but no effort was made to repair the damage to the wood. The bead mo;ding that I had provided was glued back on, but the area where the beading was missing is a mess. It appears as though Rene tried to make molding himself, very unsuccessfully. This are is completely unacceptable. I am now looking for someone to repair what has been done to these pieces of furniture. As far as I am concerned, I paid a lot of money for an amateurish job.

It went well, dresser was repaired.

Rene answered my email within an hour after I requested a price estimate and answered several follow up questions just as promptly. The best part of the whole experience working with Rene was that he was able to pick up my sofa cushion the NEXT day and returned it to me after only 36 hours! He did an excellent job and arrived promptly when he said he would be there!

The entire transaction went very smoothly and a proposal of the work was also provided.: materials needed to complete the work was also discussed. Rene called me when the job was finished. OUTSTANDING!!!! The refinished chairs were delivered today 12/15/2015.

Rene offered a Big Deal which came just as a wooden side chair we love, broke. He arrived in a timely manner, took the chair to his shop and it came back looking as good as new. The chair has a variegated paint finish, which I was concerned would make the repair look off, but it isn't. He did a magnificent job! He is pleasant and easy to work with.

Everything went as planned from first meeting. Picking up furniture, sending progress pictures and returning furniture. The attention to detail was perfect! All done on time as well.

Very well done, punctual, good quality work -- very happy with results and budget.

Angies List did a great job of helping me liason with the service provider.

Provider never responded to request for appointments.

Absolutely horrific. I called them, emailed them, communicated through Angie's List, no response after I bought the Angie's deal. I was so irritated that I bought that and ended up having to use another carpet cleaner.

provider failed to respond to any emails or phone calls. I want a refund.
