It went horrible. The 3 guys dragged their feet because they charged by the hour ($99 an hour), so they were able to drag out moving a 1-BR apt to 12 hours. Reasons why I will never use this company again: 1. Slow crew - Aside from the foreman, who was efficient and knew what he was doing, the two other crew members were extremely slow. It felt like only one guy (the foreman) was doing most of the work, but we were paying for 3 guys. The small guy (about 5' tall) could not lift anything heavy on his own, and was not doing much at all. They often disappeared for an extended length of time. I would have expected with 3 guys, I'd see a constant stream of movers carrying boxes, furniture, and appliances instead of the lack of activities that I witnessed in long stretches. 2. Disorganized - they dumped boxes and pieces of furniture in the middle of the living room instead of stacking them along the wall where they would not block walking area, and disregarded the label on the box for which room the boxes should go. This caused the boxes to have to be moved again instead of just once. They did not ask where furnitures should be placed. When I told them the sofa should not be placed along the wall of their choice, they said they'd just move it later. 3. Sloppy - They broke two pieces of a wood furniture and I saw it happening as they were moving it. They also made several big scratches on our refrigerator door which we now have to hide them with fridge magnets. Now we realized they also broke the TV tuner when they dropped the box. Our fridge is also broken. The door stays very hot. 4. Unprofessional - One of the movers (not the foreman) handed the TV he was carrying to my husband without my husband agreeing to help him. In fact, it incensed him greatly that he assumed my husband would have to help. If my husband wanted to move any of the items, he would do it himself, and the mover should not just pick something up and hand it over to my husband. 5. Poor communication - I was waiting for them to bring up the fridge which the foreman promised it would be the first to unload since it was the last to load up the truck. After an hour and no sign of the fridge, I asked the moving guy where was the fridge. I wanted to put food in it since I was afraid it'd spoil. He said they could not get the fridge up the elevator or stairs. Why not? I asked. He said it did not fit. Then he showed me if they could take out both doors, it would fit the stairs, but they could not take out the freezer door since it had a water hose connection, which they did not know how to unhook. My husband then authorized them to cut the hose, so that they could carry the fridge up the stairs. I was not happy that they had trouble with the fridge, and they did not tell us about it until I had to ask. In conclusion, I cannot recommend this company to do your move. Moving day is already stressful, but to make it last that long was unforgivable. We missed going down to spend time with family for Easter due to the move taking much longer than anticipated. This problem might have been avoided if I negotiated a flat fee? I don't know. However, I realize now that allowing them to charge by the hour only creates an incentive for them to drag their feet. Regardless, I have used another company before (I only called them Chinese movers since I got their numbers from a Chinese friend who read Chinese newspapers) and even though they charged $45/hour for 2 guys, they were very fast and efficient. It was different as night and day. I could not call them back because I lost their number, and forgot how I got their number from the chinese friend. I thought all movers were the same, but now I know how wrong I am on that.
