Rain Forest came highly recommended. After lots of vetting and research we decided they were the landscaping company to take our front and back yard to the next level. We were not disappointed!! Yosi, came up with the most beautiful designs, clearly communicated everything and listened to what we needed. We now are now spending most our time in the front and back. We are so happy we would highly recommend them to anyone interested!!

It was good quality works and they did a really nice job. They were a little bit expensive but it was worth it for the result.

The estimate was free. They were pretty good. He was responsive and gave me options on the estimate, like, based on the materials I chose, that's how the pricing would be developed. I think they were a little pricey. I think he was punctual, if I can remember. I would consider using them again in the future.
Description of Work: They gave me a quote for landscaping. The quote was for drought-resistant landscaping.

Yosi was very professional, responsive and prices were very good. The project started and completed on time, most of the plants I wanted were available at the nursery he used. I had a couple plants die which he came back and replaced with no problem per his warranty. Only one small issue I had with some grass growing back, which I ended up taking care of myself. But overall experience was great and I would highly recommend this company.
Description of Work: I did a drought tolerant yard conversion for my front yard of approx 1,500 square feet, installed drip irrigation and artificial turf in the backyard.
Wonderful. Yosi was absolutely professional and great to work with. He responded immediately to my inquiry and was even able to get our job done earlier than expected when I let him know we were having a party this month. We went to the nursery with him and picked out the plants we wanted and it looks gorgeous. We have even had people drive by and take pictures of the landscaping and lots of compliments and it hasn't even filled out like it eventually will yet. The team was very polite and cleaned up afterwards. I highly recommend Yosi and his team.

We could not be more pleased with Rainforest LA. Yosi was super responsive by text and an absolute professional every step of the way. He came and gave an estimate, accompanied us to the nursery to pick out plants and got the job done earlier than expected. He even squeezed us in early since we were planning a party and wanted to have the job done before then. The yard looks beautiful. Workers were friendly, hard working and cleaned up after themselves. I highly recommend Yosi and his team!

I received a detailed estimate for thousands for work that I did not need and could not afford, and we finally settled on $1,400 (in addition to the $299 already paid), for the cleanup and path. I was told that 'a small space' would be left between flagstones. (Small space - to me - sounds like maybe up to a half inch). To my horror, when I arrived home, the workers had only used a small portion of my flagstones, leaving a foot between stones, filled in with an ugly sand and gravel mixture. After time passed, the sandy mix blew around and the flagstones are now raised above the ugly sandy mix. I guess I should have taken the day off work to supervise! I am really unhappy with the overpriced work, and am trying to figure out how to fix my path, short of tearing it out.
Description of Work: I purchased the $299 landscape package as my 15 x 15 yard needed help. I asked if I could also get a small path built, using my own flagstones.

Was late, but called twice to reschedule for slightly later and to check in as it was a busy morning for him. Was professional, polite, honest, and extremely helpful. He emailed the estimate promptly and even followed up with a phone call to ask if we had any additional questions. He was our second choice and we almost hired him (he had a great personality, his estimate was really competitive, and we liked his honesty and straightforwardness). We would definitely call him and consider hiring him for future work.
Description of Work: Came and gave an estimate to install a wrought iron fence to enclose the front of our property (approx 200 ft of fence and two gates).
The owner Yosi and his crew were professional, courteous, fairly priced, and very efficient. Each day the job site was left clean and an update was provided about what was completed and what would be happening the following day. From demolition to finishing touches, the job was completed in 8 days, and I couldn't be happier with the results. I would recommend this company to anyone looking for a quality job at a fair price with outstanding results.

Contacted Rain Forest LA, Inc. via Angie's List messaging requesting a cost estimate for the delivery and installation of 165 square feet of sod. It's a very small job. The bid provided also included the installation of an irrigation system and timer ($780) which I did not ask for and do not want for such a small area. Fair enough, it was a reasonable assumption and no harm in trying to up-sell a bit. But the cost for installing 165 square feet of sod ($1,360) was THREE TIMES this providers nearest competitor and online cost estimators for sod installation. I might go along with a slight premium due to the size of the job but I thought this pricing was worth a mention.

Had to make sure they took the hardscape and debris they were supposed to--they tried to hide some things behind the pool house rather than taking them. There were a lot of list and reminders necessary, or things got forgotten about or not done. But after planting was done it looked originally pretty good, work was final on Easter weekend. Within a week we realized irrigation was insufficient, which they came by to "fix" but didn't resolve anything. Those plants died pretty soon. Part of the DG was washed away and in our street instead of where it should be. Lots of plants started dying, and Yossi came by after many many many calls and texts, and agreed they needed to be replaced. It's been over 4 months now, he's not replaced any plants and I can no longer reach him. Lighting started dying and flickering within three months, and Yossi said the light bulbs just needed to be replaced and he'd take care of it. That was several months ago. The lights still flicker and there are short circuits, several lights don't work at all. I would not recommend letting them put in lighting as they don't use an electrician and have no way to make sure things are safe and properly done. Yossi demanded payment in full the last date of the project. We should not have paid him then, and recommend if you do use him waiting 3-4 months at least to make sure he returns to follow up on things. We were sad, as we had at least two other projects we were going to use Yossi for, but now cannot.
Description of Work: Removed some hardscape, planted, put in irrigation, lighting and DG to mostly backyard. Had his real electrician friend add an electric line to pool/spa.

This was a big deal purchase. It went okay. We did not move forward. It kind of felt a little disappointing. After the deal he delivered pictures and it was almost comically funny. He took a few pictures of stone and then just kind of cut and pasted random pictures of plants on top of that. It did not really give us a clear picture of what we were looking for. And then he gave us a quote for, like, $17,000 and so I told him thanks for his time. He was timely and certainly friendly. It really felt like he came out and charged us to just give us an estimate. To get a better grade from me he could have delivered clearer pictures and a better understanding of the vision he would have been designing.

We are extremely happy; the team finished on budget and ahead of schedule. I highly recommend this company. I had 3 landscape companies quote out my project: one top-of-the-line design group and two more 'regular' contractors, of which Rainforest LA was one. Yosi of Rainforest LA was the most prompt, with a proposal the very same day, the most reasonably priced, and overall had the greatest air of ease to work with (quick to understand what was needed, provide options, make it happen, end up on budget and on time). After signing, the project was estimated to take 2 weeks, but in fact it was completed 100% on budget and per the specifications in a week and a half. The team was there promptly at 7:30 every day and worked hard, non-stop the entire time they were on site. Yosi came to coordinate with us and supervise the team / assess the progress every single day. The materials that he chooses (e.g., outdoor lighting, irrigation, wood) are high-end; he does not cut corners here. The plants and organic material (e.g., mulch) that he uses are strictly organic, which I also appreciate. When we ran low of some existing gravel we were reusing in the new design, he threw in some material for free to complete the look. He even came to visit a week after the work was completed to make sure everything was still as it should be and that we were happy. This is a company and person I highly recommend. They are pros, fast, experienced, reliable, and priced fairly. Full context: we were pretty decided on what needed to happen where and thus used the company mostly as an executor, not too much as a designer. I know this is a capability they have as well, and clearly they have a LOT of experience in all things from hardscape and construction to custom design and planting, but our project was predominantly executing (which they did excellently).
Description of Work: Rainforest LA executed our entire yard remodel: back, front, side, parkway. They did complete demo (concrete steps, trees, existing turf & planting), built custom planting boxes, created DG pathways, installed a backyard beach, excavated & planted 2 new planting areas, all front yard & parkway planting, and installed complete LED lighting and drip irrigation systems. A few plants were even saved and reused, and have survived the move.

The good: Yossi's crew was efficient, professional and good at the hardscape; concrete cutting, drip sprinkler lines & timers, electrical lines and lights. As a contractor, I expected him to be conversant with the needs and restrictions for the rebate program. He wasn't. I learned quickly and did what needed to be done on my own, and did get the incentive from the state and city fund. He called himself a designer. He ain't. When I asked for the names of several plants to include on my permit application, he said, "the name is succulent." That says it all about his knowledge of plants and landscape design. This was more than a year ago, and perhaps he has learned how to get the rebate, now that there is no more money left in the fund. Maybe he even knows the names of some of the plants now. It took me this long to write this because all he seemed concerned with was getting a review (hopefully, good) which I could not do, since he did not listen to what we asked for; pleaded for and wanted very much. For him to acknowledge that we knew what we wanted and for him to visit the several other installations - or at least look at the photos!!! - so he could see the look and feel we were after. He insisted he didn't have to (and d*** well didn't!) and although the result is ok - for the money it should have been GREAT. We tweaked it with additional rocks and plants, but it still feels - well, undesigned. Which it is/was. A thought for providers: Reviews cannot take the place of actual quality work. Listening to what the customers, who are paying good $$ to get that service is an important aspect of getting a good review. Spend more time doing the job and listening to customers and the good reviews will practically write themselves.
Description of Work: Removed old turf/grass, installed drip sprinklers, accent lights, drought resistant plants & a couple of rocks. Also installed pavers and tweaked backyard installation. He did follow up and made good on his promise to replace any plants that didn't make it, without any reservations. His intentions were admirable, but lacked the real design aspect and understanding that customers actually do know what they want and it might not be what his intuition tells him. Designers usually have blueprints of some sort to show; his were all inside his head. That did not translate to what we had in our minds.

Yosi was always on time to every scheduled meeting we had. He is very friendly and put us at ease. He gave good advice and paid attention to the details of the project. He really helped with picking plants out and had good ideas of where to plant them. His crew was always at the house at least by 8 am and immediately got to work. Everyone was very professional. The demo took about one day. Yosi worked with us and our neighbor and delayed the back fence work so it was convenient for our neighbor. He also took down and rebuild the fence in one day which was a huge help. I met Yosi at the nursery to pick out plants and he really made the process go much smoother. The whole process was actually very smooth and simple. The steps they build in the back are very strong and look good. The gate is well balanced and very functional. The raised planter box is actually much nicer that I expected. They left the job clean and neat. Overall it was a very good experience and our yard looks great! We would hire Yosi again.
Description of Work: Demolition of 10' gate, 40' fence, removal of about 350 sqft of grass and grading of about 1000 sgft. Two door 10' gate with lock built with iron and redwood. 40' fence build with redwood. Three stairs with railing build with trex. An 8' by 3' raised planter box build with treated wood. Trimming of one large pomegranate tree. About 350 sqft of artificial grass supplied and installed. Two 15 gallon plants, twenty five 5 gallon plants, thirty two 1 gallon plants and six flats of ground cover supplied and planted. Full drip irrigation also installed. The job was completed in a week and a half.

So I used one of Angies List deals and this is the second time the value of the services that were provided didn't seem like a deal. I honestly don't think it is the contractor that provides the services but the AL marketing team. So within 24 hours of buying the said "deal" Yosi contacted me immediately to set up an appointment to see what landscaping I needed done. He was on time for the appointment and we went over the what I wanted done to some DIY landscaping that I did but eventually turned into a jungle. The next day Yosi sent me the quote and a listing of plants with pictures. So after issues with scheduling on my side since I needed Rainforest to work on the Friday I was at home, two months later I was finally able to get this service sceduled. Yosi and his crew showed up on time, right before 8AM and he said in an hour he would have all of the plants set up and where they would be planted. His 4 workers demoed the whole strip in about an hour and Yosi had all of the plants setup. He walked us through the care of each plant and luckily I picked a number of succulents. We took off for a few hours and when we came back everything was planted and the crew was working on installing the drip system. After Yosi left to drop off the dirt and old shrubs he returned with a bunch of mulch, that they used to cover the ground and drip system. He also planted ground cover that would eventually take over the mulch. After everything was done Yosi helped reprogram the sprinkler system. Hi crew cleaned up and it looked like there were no workers there at all. All in all Rainforest Inc did an awesome job but once again I did not the $399 for two landscapers for a day on Angies list not really a deal since I think in the end I would have ending up paying that much anyway.

It went very well. I'd first purchased 24 hours of work for $799, but decided to go with the full installation of plants and irrigation system. I really wanted to choose the plants and Yosi set up a meeting with me at their nursery in Reseda. I was concerned that they might not have the sort of plants I was looking for, but the selection was quite extensive. The day of the work went very smoothly. Yosi showed up to get things going and later on came back to work with me on the placement of the plants. He explained the drip irrigation very clearly. The guys who did the job were very friendly and hard-working. The yard looks great!

Within 24 hours of purchasing a "Big Deal" on Angie's List for 48 hours of labor, Yosi from Rain Forest LA gave me a call and we arranged for an initial consultation that very same week. I had been researching my landscape design and plant choices for the last 6 months, so I knew exactly what I wanted for my yard. Yosi arrived for our appointment on time, and we went over my landscaping plans. He agreed that the labor I purchased could apply to the job, but mentioned that there was an extra fee for tree trimming and waste haul away. I also opted to add in drip irrigation, and was charged for the material cost with the assumption that the labor would be paid for with the "Big Deal". All of Yosi's extra charges seemed reasonable to me so I went ahead and requested a formal quote for the extra charges. After waiting for a couple of days without a response, I pinged Yosi and he immediately responded that same day with a formal quote. The charges were reasonable for the amount of work I was expecting, so I agreed to the contract. My only concern was that any work required that went beyond the 48 hours that I had pre-paid, would incur an additional hourly charge. I had concerns over this, because I could not get a committed estimate of hours that it would take to do the job. Yosi would just comment that it was a lot of work and it would most likely take longer than the 48 hours that I had already paid. I was fine with this, but was afraid that I was basically agreeing to an open ended contract. It would have been nice to have a better idea of what the final cost would be. That said, his hourly rates seemed reasonable, and his reviews on Angie's List from people that actually had work done by him were positive, so I signed the contract. Yosi said it would take about 4 weeks before his crew would be available. I pinged him after waiting 3 weeks, and he informed me that his crew would be free to start the following Monday. He called me again that Thursday and asked to start earlier on that Friday. This caught me off-guard a bit since I was stressing about getting all of the material (plants, mulch, gravel) delivered a bit earlier than planned, but it all worked out in the end. Demolition took a full 2 days so all of my deliveries came in time for planting. Yosi's team of 3 landscapers arrived on time Friday morning, and worked diligently throughout the day. They were polite, and easy to work with. I was very particular with where I wanted things planted, and they accommodated my requests without any gripes. I provided instructions in the morning, went off to work, and was very pleased to come home after work to see that everything that I wanted done was done as planned. I originally wanted a flagstone walkway installed, but was afraid that the labor would exceed my pre-purchased 48 hours of labor so I had that nixxed from my plans. This ended up being the right decision since the job took a full 4 days to complete and I ended up paying for an additional 28 hours of labor without the flagstone walkway. Note that this was 4 full days of hard work. They had to remove many roots from a large tree that I had removed years earlier, and it must have took at least 10 hours just to removed the roots. Demolition of my lawn took up the first 2 days. Planting took a whole day since I had ~300 plants to plant. On the fourth day, the crew installed the drip irrigation and mulch. Now that everything is done, all I can say is WOW. All my neighbors are saying WOW. I have cars that drive by our street that have pulled over just to look at our yard. It is rare to find someone walk pass our yard without commenting to me how much they love it. Everyone is amazed! A neighbor commented that it looks like it took a lot of work - and I agree. It did take a lot of work, and I am glad that Rainforest LA could come in and do all of it. There is a house down our street that went with another "landscaping company" that did their yard for "free" with the city turf removal rebate. The yard is covered in rocks with about 8 dead plants sparsely distributed on their bed of rocks. My new yard isn't exactly free after the rebate, but it wasn't much more - and there's just a night and day difference in curb appeal! Rainforest LA made my dream yard into a reality without costing me an arm and a leg. My only gripe would be not knowing how much the final cost of the project would be. I wish I had a more defined cost of how much it would cost at the start of the project. I had provided very detailed plans of the work, down to the number/type/placement of the plants, so I was hoping I could get a quote of the number of labor hours I would need to still pay to complete the job. I was only told that it was a lot of work and could possibly take a couple of more days than anticipated. At the end of the job, I paid a reasonable price, but again, since I was working on a budget, not knowing what it would cost me when we started gave me a lot of stress. This doesn't take anything away from the fact that I have an AMAZING yard now. I would definitely go to Rain Forest LA again and again. In fact, I will be referring them to my in-laws that are looking to remove their lawn.
