Precision Overhead Garage Door Service

The technician was on time, had all the parts, finished quickly and completed the job as expected.

It's my bad for not doing proper research prior o their arrival and finding out about the state of the market out there (i.e. average prices charge by companies that do this type of jobs). While they were punctual and very professional, I found their price is extraordinarily HIGH (and they wanted another $500 for a new door opener); Upon further review, the quality of the job provided wasn't as good as I originally thought. I found a lot of greasy fingerprints at the bottom of the door (near the weather strip) and in some of the panels in the inside. I found also that 3-4 panels were damaged in the inside, in one of them you can that it was done with the side of a shoe; I believe this was done when they were replacing the roles, one of the guys was more junior and he was the one doing that job following some guidance from the more senior guy. Last but not least, once the final bill came, there were over $20 on additional fees (that were never mentioned until the very end); when I asked about that, I was told that this was how the company pays taxes!!. Would I be doing business again with this company, probably NOT. While they're courteous and professional, I would qualify the quality of the job provided as average/fair, and not enough attention to detail. My recommendation to anyone giving them a call, is to make sure you are paying a fair market place; Angie's list doesn't guarantee that and while it would be a nice to have from them (provide average cost/price on similar services provided in the area), that responsibility falls on us (the customer), so do your homework (and don't repeat my same mistake).

It went well overall except for not getting a solution to get the frayed cable replaced. The service man did good work and knew what he was doing.

I first used this company (after consulting Angie's List) 9/24/08 to have a Garage Door Opener purchased and installed. They did an excellent job, were punctual, and I was completely pleased with the experience. Due to that previous experience, when I noticed that the cables on my garage door were frayed and would need to be replaced, I called them to do the service. Again they scheduled the appointment right away at my convenience, showed up promptly, and explained carefully what was wrong with the aging door, what the options for solving the problems were, and what it would cost to do the different options. They installed new cables, drums, rings and did a complete service on the door. He explained the warranty and that I could use my AAA Club discount which I hadn't realized. The door and opener now work like new. I was again very pleased with the whole experience and am very glad that there is a company that does such a terrific job and that will be around if I need something in the future. I would say that they are probably not the cheapest, but having the job done professionally, promptly, and correct the first time is well worth the money.

They were very good for what they were assigned to do. They did find a number of other problems and we did end up spending about 4 times as much. Our garage door does work now. It is hard to say if the other work was really needed, but it isn’t necessarily a bad thing. I am happy with the service.

He came out and was very personable. He was concerned about the springs on my garage doors that they were really worn. He was more concerned about the springs than what I had originally had him out for. My door was making a noise and he believed that was caused because of the springs. I did believe him and know that it is important to have those springs. He did end up changing the springs instead of the rollers. I am happy with what they did. I am trusting that it was necessary. I do use my garage door a lot. The sound has gone away and I felt that it was a good preventative measure rather than waiting till the door would break. I was happy with their service.

Their service was fine. He was very punctual and did an okay job. They did charge me for a service call, but I did get that refunded since I wasn’t made aware of the service call through the coupon. I felt they used the Big Deal service to try and sell me more instead of letting me know what other services they offered. I don’t think the guy who came out was handling the situation very well. It made me uncomfortable. I do think the service itself was worth the money.

I specifically called the company first before purchasing the special to confirm that it applied to wood flip up doors. Apparently they have a central customer service hotline that dispatches the orders versus sitting in a storeroom to actually ask some one from the field to verify. But I was reassured that their trucks were fully stocked and that there wouldn't be a problem with working on a wood door. Amazingly enough there was someone who could come out the same day! Well, the guy was super nice and he and his boss over the phone really tried to make it right by offering me other services - which I appreciated. However, the guy was constantly on the phone with his boss, and for so long that his phone ended up dying. And after a while, I got the impression that he was newly trained and not very experienced. And then to boot, he used big bolt-like screws instead of nails because he didn't have anything else to use to put up the rubber seal around the wood door so that leaves, etc. did not get blown into the garage. He assured me that the size of the bolts would not weaken the integrity of the wood if they were ever removed - but I was not convinced by his response. When he was finished, there were still gaps around my garage door and this is the whole reason why I purchased the special! But he took so long that I didn't care anymore, I just wanted him to leave because I was so tired from the whole ordeal!

We were very happy with the service. The door was fixed and is now very quiet. The person who came out was also very helpful.

I was happy to receive a call from the company the very next day (from when I purchased the deal) to schedule a time that week for the work to be done. So I definitely give them an A for responsiveness. The technician called me enroute and arrived within the window given. The replacement on the weather stripping was either for the bottom of the door or around the three sides. I went ahead and paid the extra to have it done all the way around as my doors are twenty years old and in need of new. It turned out that the technician didn't have enough product on his truck to complete the job so he wanted to schedule another day to do the stripping on the outside...it was okay with me but just I bit of a hassle to schedule another day. But as he progressed he decided to to run back to the office to get more instead of coming back another day. That was a much better option but required me to rearrange another appointment I had made that day. The tune-up was fine (not really why I bought the deal--so just a bonus), the garage smelled of WD-40 from the lube of the hinges...something I could have done if I felt I needed it. The weather stripping on the bottom of the doors was great! It is hard to explain but it seems like a real high quality product and is much better than what I had before. The stuff used for around the sides of the doors is a completely different story...I had wood trim with a rubber gasket type strip around that was definitely wearing out and torn in several places. I wrongly just assumed that he would somehow replace the rubber. Not so! But it wasn't explained or shown to me what needed to be done beforehand--and I didn't stand over them and watch what they were doing. First he tore off the the old wood trim and rubber. Then the new was a vinyl trim and stripping all in one...normally installed by sticking it to the outside with foam tape--but apparently that doesn't hold well enough so he "went the extra mile" and screwed it in place somewhat haphazardly in my opinion (there are many drill marks in the material where it appears the drill skipped from the screw and dinged up the material). And because it is a different color than my doors I need to paint it all to match. The installer was not careful in cutting the material, leaving some sides longer than the other and not matching up in the corners very well. I am hoping that once it is painted it will blend in better... Not terribly happy with job. I'm mostly mad at myself for not asking questions...but then again, how would I know! I guess I just need to stand over them and watch the whole process. I feel like I paid way too much for a job I could have done better myself!

This is 9 months later, so I can't recall all the details or what I paid, but I believe it was less than $100. As near as I can remember, this was a Big Deal transaction. My garage door wasn't working, so I called a technician to have it serviced. He was really pushing for me to purchase a new motor at a cost of $600. I hadn't priced garage door openers so wasn't sure what was reasonable, thus I declined to do so and asked him to just get it lubed and working. He was able to do that, but acted like I was making a mistake and wished he hadn't come for such a small job. It is still working today, so he did his job, but I can see it may need servicing again or replacement.

It went great. He strengthened the garage door and put some heavier coils in. He knew was he was doing and I trusted him. He came out right away as soon as I called him. They were very good and I will hire them again.

I am very happy with the service although it spent a lot more than I anticipated. That's what my garage door needed anyway and very appreciated Trent professionalism and very clear explanation to me what needed to repair and what not. Highly recommended their service.

Their work was quick and their scheduled to time quickly, but left me with the feeling that the $89 tune up was only a marketing ploy to get a technician to up-sell you into repairs that were not necessary.

Our roll-up garage door has been serving us well and faithfully and it only seemed fair that we treat it to some TLC. Precision Overhead was running a special that pretty much to fit the bill in performing such preventative maintenance. It was very easy to schedule an appointment with Precision Overhead (we received a call within about 15 minutes of placing our request) to come out and tune up the garage door (inspecting and lubricating) and replace all the garage door rollers. Based on their inspection, they recommended that we replace the spring that ran across the top of the door with a better designed spring that would operate the door much more smoothly, with less strain and more reliably. And they were right. The neighbor across the street who had a roll-up garage door similar to ours suffered such a failure shortly after our tune-up, and the damage did some very mean things to their door. Consequently, we were very glad we had taken Precision's advice on the spring replacement. Precision Overhead also has a number of youtube videos for the do-it-yourselfers that I appreciated as it made it easier for me to determine what I could do versus what I wanted the professionals (in this case Precision Overhead) to handle for me as they explained the various do's and don'ts of garage door maintenance. I will have them out again for my garage door needs.
