When Martin came out the first time, he replaced the electrical outlet that was defective and checked the light fixture in the garage. Since the light fixture was defective, he removed it and put in a temporary lamp holder. Then he looked at my ceiling fan. The fan would work fine but the light was very dim. He took the fan apart and was able find out that it was a defective remote device. I was so glad to hear that since the last electrician told me that I had to replace the whole ceiling fan. He told me which part I needed and where to buy it. I scheduled another appointment the following week and had Martin replace the defective remote in the ceiling fan and install the outdoor electrical outlet. He came early and was very knowledgeable and personable. I would definitely use them again.
Description of Work: Replace indoor electrical outlet, check a light fixture in the garage, check the ceiling fan and install an outdoor outlet.

Like many other members, I took advantage of the $99 for two hours of service deal. Gabriel responded very promptly to my email request for service, which was to install two exterior outlets. We scheduled my appointment for 2pm. Martin called a little bit before 1pm to acknowledge my appointment and arrived early, at about 1pm. He was very courteous, flexible and accommodating, which worked well for me because I had a few items beyond the original request that I really wanted done. Martin's early arrival helped to make that possible. An extra hour of labor later (@$75/additional hour) plus the cost of materials (which he had on his truck), I ended up spending an additional $141, which was worth every penny. Martin ran flex cable in my garage to add both an exterior outlet and motion sensing light over the rolling garage door and installed an electrical box for an outlet on the outside of the garage. When working inside my home, Martin was very conscientious about cleanliness, which I truly appreciated. If not for the fact that I saw him working there, I never would have known that he had done any work in the bedroom where he replaced an outlet. Martin answered all of my questions and was very patient with me. They are very professional, neat and conscientious service providers. I would definitely recommend them.
Description of Work: I had two exterior outlets and two exterior motion lights installed and an interior outlet replaced.

It went very well. Martin Chan came to my house and installed an undercounter light in a new kitchen unit. He then installed a small chandelier in one of my bedrooms. He corrected my rewiring job I had done on a lamp. When I plugged it in it made a funny noise. Martin said I had the wrong wires connected and fixed it. He was very quick and clean, putting down a tarp in each area and bringing his own ladder.
Description of Work: I bought the Deal from Angie's list last year and now used it. 2 hours for $99.00. Install undercounter light complete with hard wiring and installation of electrical box with a plug on one side and a toggle switch on the other. Installation of a chandelier. Check and correct my rewiring job on a free standing lamp.

We bought the $99 Big Deal for 2 hours of service and we were really satisfied. Frank arrived on time, had a great attitude and was willing to explain all the problems. Very professional, neat, courteous, and knowledgeable. We would definitely use this company again for future electric work.

My Chan was polite, personable and took the time to correct some wires that had not been installed correctly. He took the time to ensure that the installation was done properly without any fear of a future problem with the wiring. He corrected a problem with the existing wires in the electric box that he worked on. He gave us advise on another issue that we have with electrical issues. He was absolutely a joy to work with. I highly recommend him.
Description of Work: Used Power Up Electric to install a Self-Adjusting In-Wall Timer. This work involved replacing an existing self adjusting manual in-wall timer with a new digital self adjusting in wall timer. He tested the existing system to ensure that the problem as described by us was indeed the problem. After testing the system and confirming what we had told him, he replaced the existing unit with the new unit. He tested the new unit to ensure that it worked. He also offered to program the timer. We told him that we would read the instructions and program the timer later.

I could not be happier with the work the Gabriel Chan did at our house today. It's a very old house, and the electrical system is a mix of older wiring and up to code improvements. Mr. Chan was able to quickly diagnose the particular problems we wanted fixed, and he not only fixed them, but was very clear in explaining what he did and why. In addition, he was 100% honest about the current status of our electrical system, i.e., what he could upgrade, and what it would take to redo the entire house. And I wish to add that he did not try to "oversell" or recommend any unnecessary work should we need him in the future. Excellent work, excellent company.
Description of Work: Due to a small electrical fire in an outlet, an assessment of what caused the problem and replacement of the outlet was needed. We also needed to know why some overhead florescent lights were not working properly.

We purchased the deal for $99 for two hours of electrician's services as we had a recessed light in our living room ceiling that was not working. We emailed to make the appointment and the date was set for the following week. Gabriel, the owner, arrived at the appointed time. He said one of his technicians was out that day, so he came himself, as he didn't want to have to reschedule. He meticulously laid sheets on the floor to cover the area where he was working. Upon removing the lighting unit, he found that the wire attachments were too close to the light fixture and had melted (he showed us the damaged parts). He repaired the light and looked at some other fixtures in our kitchen that had been blinking. He addressed those as well. He was very prompt, courteous and meticulously neat (and has a great sense of humor). We now have an electrician that we trust and can count on. I highly recommend Power Up Electric as I know the owner stands behind the work.

I responded to an Angie's List Big Deal from Power-up Electric for 2 hours of work. Gabriel from Power-up e-mailed me to see exactly what I needed done, which was installing a new outside electrical outlet from an interior outlet. He said no problem on the e-mail and set an appointment with me. Martin, one of power-up's electricians came to my house right on time. He was very polite and seemed to be very professional. He saw what needed to be done and proceeded to lay down blankets etc so he didnt dirty our floors and carpets. He performed the job very efficiently and professionally. He made sure every part of the job was exactly what I wanted. He had about 15 minutes to spare for the 2 hour-time frame that I purchased and I had him looked at the outlet and switch for my garbage disposal that hasn't been working for a year and he fixed that too. I was very impressed with the professionalism and courtesy that Martin displayed. Down the road, I have quite a bit of electrical work to do (i.e. electrical box upgrade and adding new landscape lighting). I will definitely be contacting Power-up electric again to do the work. I would refer them to anybody as I am very satisfied with their work.

Martin arrived early but did not approach the front door until the appointed time. He was polite and professional. When he arrived, the ground was wet from a recent rain and he brought in an extra cloth to dry his shoes before walking on my floor. He quickly made friends with our family dog, Joey, and I showed him the broken kitchen plug. He kept his work area very clean and worked quickly but safely. He was also very thorough. He tested the outlet to ensure it was not the wiring and, after replacing the broken outlet with a new one, he tested the new outlet for proper operation. The new plug for the television was installed with expertise and, again, cleanly. Martin even had to contend with relocating the outlet to another location because the original chosen location was along a support beam. No problem. He finished the job with enough time left over to inspect the wiring in my garage and plot out next steps for when I call him back for more work...and I will.
Description of Work: Martin replaced a broken GFI outlet in the kitchen and placed a new outlet high on the wall for a wall mounted television.

We did our first Angie's List Big Deal with them, and had an absolutely splendid experience. Martin was the electrician sent to us, and he showed up 10 minutes ahead of schedule. He was very courteous, and did a great job -- he was even able to install a rare home automation module that he's never seen before. The floodlight looks great, the home automation component works superbly, and he cleaned up and patched up nicely after the job was done. I highly recommend them, and will use them again for future jobs.

I absolutely would recommend and use Power Up Electrical again. I had an 8 am appointment, and Frank called me at 7:50 because he was having a hard time finding my address (most people do), but he was just a few blocks away and so he showed up a couple of minutes before 8. Frank was professional, very pleasant and considerate (it was raining and he brought in blankets so he could put down his tools and raincoat so my floors wouldn't get wet). He explained things in layman's terms, but without being condescending (as a single woman, I get that a lot!). I had purchased the $99 special Angie's List offered for 2 hours of electrical work. He was methodical and careful in his approach to the job, but he never stopped working, so I didn't feel like he was trying to take advantage. He found the source of the main problem for which I called pretty quickly. He fixed it and he moved on to the next thing and the next thing. He would explain the problem, offer his professional opinion on what should be done. Not everything he checked needed to be replaced or worked on, so I didn't feel he was trying to up-sell me. He did go over the 2 hours because I had a couple of extra little projects I wanted him to take a look at, but he advised me about 20 minutes before the 2 hours were up that he was going to try his best to finish by 10 am, but asked if it would be ok to go over. I also wanted to install a light fixture in the closet. I didn't realize that the closet was already wired for one, but I didn't have the light fixture, yet. Frank prepped the wiring and showed me exactly what to do so I could install the fixture, myself.
Description of Work: Some of my lights and outlets suddenly stopped working. The other company that came to give me an estimate was very vague and made it sound like I would need to rewire my whole house, at the very least replace the breaker. It turns out that there were some loose wires that lead to a light fixture, so it turned out to be an easy fix. I also had some outlest in the kitchen that were not up to code. I had a couple of other small projects, including installing a new chandelier in the dining room.

This was the first Angie's Deal I purchase so I was a little worried. Power Up was wonderful. They knew I had to leave work as soon as they were done so they showed up a few minutes before 7:00 a.m. - right on schedule. The electrician was terrific. I have a list of small electrical jobs in the house and the one I wanted the most really wasn't feasible. He told me my best option in the future. All in all I was very happy. I was dreading the infamous "well for this amount we can do this....." IOW the hard sell to get more business/money.Never came. I was happy about that and I would use Power Up again.
Description of Work: installed two new outlets under my sink from an electrical box already in place. Replaced two electrical outlets which included some drywall patching. Very nice work. Both eyesores (one was even dangerous) are now safe and look great.

*******BEWARE*********BEWARE***************BEWARE*********BEWARE********Power Up was contracted for a simple task. they were very polite and professional over the phone. Their guidelines were to hardwire (via the crawlspace) ~ 2 ft. of wire for a range hood installation. It was emphasized that no holes were to be made in the wall and the hardwire was to be done only via the crawlspace. they were specifically requested not to make holes into our newly painted kitchen. \They said they could do it via the crawlspace no problem. My 63yr old relative was at the house while they did a horrible job. They did not do the hardwire. Instead, All they did was install an outlet while putting 5 holes in my kitchen wall for one outlet.Once I saw their work I called the owner Gabriel and explained to him since he was in fact the person was originally given to.He was unprofessional, made nothing but excuses, and did not wanted to hear my complaint.Additionally, The on site workers Juan and Jessy tried "bait and switch" and (take advantage of my 63yr old relative by telling him the inspected the wiring and it was very old and unsafe and needed to be replaced. They gave a rough estimate of $5,000 dollarsfor my 1000 sq ft 2bed, 1 bath house.I found that interesting since the electrical wiring in the house was replace new less than a year ago. These guys are hacks, predators and in my opinion should be avoided.!!!!!!!!

We chased Power Up for a week, trying to schedule an estimate. SInce we had already paid for the Big Deal, I guess there wasn't any incentive for them to call us back. We tried phone and emails, to no avail. Finally we contacted Angie's List for a refund, which they processed very quickly. So ultimately, no harm no foul (except for some wasted time)--but we won't ever use this company.

It was excellent work. He is still on my list.
Description of Work: I was stuck with no hot water - from my husband's forgetfulness of hooking some wires together on my tankless water heater. I called Gabriel Chan and he was out within a flash. He fixed all my problems - GFI and hot water within 2 hours and the computers were still running. He is a God send Angel. All the while his workers were at a different location, fixing a 1930 home with a new meter on the outside of my house. He had me up an running even when the electric company had a power outage. Excellent! First off got the $99 special being offered for two hours of work, so from the very beginning this was a good deal. Then when Martin Chan arrived in his state-of-the-art service truck I knew I was in good hands. (By the way, Martin and his father Gabriel are Latino but with the last name Chan. Martin's great grandfather was a Chinese man in Mexico, so that was a very cool side story.) Anyway, the job was not a difficult one, but a little tricky because I have an old house with old wiring. So I was glad to have a real electrician do the work rather than risking a do-it-yourself job. Bottom line, Martin was focused on the work and efficiently completed all six receptacles well within the two hour limit. So as a bonus he did an assessment of what it would take and an estimate of what it would cost to rewire the entire house. (I have a 1950's era two-bedroom bungalow still using the same original wiring.) All in all, this was a most excellent deal! Thank you Gabriel and Martin! And thank you Angie's List!!
Description of Work: Replaced six old two prong outlets, with new three prong outlets. And, made an assessment of what it would take and how much it would cost to rewire the entire house.

Martin from Power Up Electric showed up on time early in the morning. My husband explained to Martin which fixtures went where and he was good to go. He was very knowledgeable and professional and installed the fixtures beautifully. He took away our old ceiling fan as we did not want it. We are going to use their services again in the near future to have some more lighting fixtures updated and also modify our electric panel to use with a generator in case of a power outage. I would recommend their services to anyone.

It could not have gone better. I had only purchased two hours, but he provided an additional two hours worth of work for the same price. His workmanship was exceptional. He pointed out issues that the original electrican (S.P. Electric- avoid at all costs) had created, and solved everything. The fixture above my front door has some heavy glass and he was thoughtful enough to wash his hands before installing it.
Description of Work: Martin installed a fixture above my front door, he fixed a light that had faulty wiring at the garage, and he found a transformer failure that had caused a fixture to no longer function. He is a very good guy, a very honest guy, and a very skilled electrician. The faulty wiring issue is one that most electricians could not resolve- and it wasn't easy for Martin. I've worked (professionally) with a lot of electrical contractors in the past and Power Up Electric is one of the best I've come across.

They were very professional and they seemed to know what they were doing. They had been very clear upfront when I had purchased the big deal; about how much it would cost because I needed a box that was big enough for it to work and mine wasn't; so I needed a different one and so it was extra. They are expensive but knowledgeable.

Frank was a very conscientious and professional worker and worked with me to address all of my concerns. He was very pleasant to work with and worked without a break until everything was finished and cleaned up.
