We expected it would require a long lead time with such a great deal and positive feedback. We contacted Gabriel on 2 weeks ahead of when we wanted to schedule the work and lucked out that he was able to accomodate our timeline! Martin actually performed the work. He arrived on time (actually 15 minutes early), was professional, courteous, and cleaned up after himself. We will definitely call on Power Up again as we need to do some electrical work in the bedroom and bath!
Description of Work: After a major kitchen, dining room, and living room renovation, we needed to install a light fixture and replace 12 outdated plugs and light switches. We purchased one of the 2 hours of service for $99. Best investment we could have made!

Definitely not happy with Gabriel's responsiveness, and we ended up going with another electrician. We set up an appointment for Gabriel to provide an estimate on some electrical issues. My wife thought he was rude at the time. Moreover, we waited 10 days for his estimate. His excuse was that he had internet problems, but he could have contacted us by phone.
Description of Work: Moving subpanel and replacing main panel, among other issues.

My contact and working with Gabriel was very professional and gave me lot of electrical knowledge,
Description of Work: I called Gabriel to get a estimate to extend service from an unused bathroom heater to the kitchen. He stated that it could not be done due to the age of the wiring and there is no room in the existing breaker box to run a dedicated line to the kitchen.. Also, I did some home improvement by replacing old convience outlets to GFCI in the kitchen. There was a problem with the existing wiring in one of the outlets. Gabriel looked at it and took time to check it out and got it back working. He did not charge me for the time that he spent troubleshooting and correcting the problem. I will contact Gabriel for any future work that needs to be done.

Martin (son of the owner) arrived right on time, 8 am, despite a very long commute. I had purchased an Angie's List Big Deal, $99 for two hours of electrical work, so was anxious to get as much accomplished as possible in that time frame. Martin got right to work removing my old vanity fixtures. Although I had hoped to install the new fixtures higher on the wall above each sink, Martin determined that this was not possible as the wiring had been cut and could not be stretched any further. As my new fixtures had a smaller profile than the old ones, he had to insert cardboard into the existing holes and plaster over the openings. As I like to learn everything possible about the inner workings of my house, Martin made sure I understood every step he took. I probably drove him crazy asking a million questions, but he was so nice, helpful and fun that I really enjoyed the experience. At the end of the two hour period covered by the Big Deal, I asked Martin if he would stay an additional hour to install a new chandelier in my two-story stairwell. This required a special ladder, and when I mentioned I had purchased a Little Giant ladder a few years ago but had never taken it out of the box, we agreed it would be the perfect time for me to learn how to use it. He carried it up the several flights of stairs from my detached garage to the stairwell landing and showed me how to operate the various features. He allowed me to "assist" so that I could see the steps involved in installing a chandelier and helped me determine the perfect height. After that project was finished, he determined that the reason four of my outside outlets were not working was because they were wired to an unexpected switch hidden in a closet that also controlled my central vacuum system. As I never use that system, I had turned the switch off, thereby cutting electricity to my outside outlets. Problem solved! He also took the time to look at the electric box containing my circuit breakers to make sure it was safe and working properly. Martin charged me $75 for the additional hour, an excellent price for the value I received. He was so interesting, professional, informative and friendly that I wouldn't hesitate to hire him again for future work. I also like that Power Up Electric is a family owned business.
Description of Work: Removed two bathroom vanity fixtures, patched holes and installed two new ones in the same location. Replaced chandelier in two-story stairwell. Tested four outdoor outlets that quit working in past few months and determined solution.

Franklin was wonderful- very friendly and totally professional. He arrived a little early and was prepared for anything. He crawled under the house to address everything that our home inspection had said was a problem, and found that some of the problems weren't problems, but that there were other things the inspector missed. he took photos of everything on my camera to show me what he was talking about, then he fixed it all. He even brought out his saw to help me cut down a small tree that was blocking the electrical panel. He also installed a light and light switch in one of my closets and put my other closet light on a switch as well. to do this he had to cut access into the ceiling crawlspace (previous owner had blocked access with the HVAC). He covered everything in my closet, cut a hole, covered the hole when he was done, and vacuumed up the mess and patched all the holes in the plaster (you can only tell he was there because I haven't repainted yet. He had all the materials we needed, from cables to light fixtures, explained everything he was doing and could do, kept within my budget, and even checked around my attic space for mold while he was up there. I was so happy with the speed and quality of the work I have already purchased another Big Deal to add a few outlets.
Description of Work: They installed a light switch for a closet light with a pull-cord. Installed a closet light and switch. Got all electrical in the crawlspace under the house up to code.

This morning I blew a circuit and couldn't get the circuit panel switch to re-establish power. I called Power Up Electric late morning about needing an electrical repair done that day. They said they would send someone over right away. Martin arrived about 30 minutes later, checked the panel and all outlets and light switches, found the problem, fixed it and double checked all outlets and light switches on the same line. He made 2 outlet repairs and 2 light switch repairs that were incorrectly wired. We are thoroughly satisfied and happy with the work done and the professional attitude. Martin is a very nice guy and explained everything that he did. We mentioned we would be needing additional electrical work done in the future (replace old, obsolete panel) and asked if he could give us an estimate. He inspected, explained options and gave us a preliminary estimate and said the office would email details. He also explained the process with DWP's involvement. He said the service charge of $165 that we paid today would be credited toward having the panel replaced. We will definitely call them in the future for all of our electrical needs.

Overall - I would describe the experience as the best that I have had with any service provider since I bought my house in November. I bought the $99 coupon for 2 hours of electrical work from Angie's list. Martin arrived on time and got to work immediately with the items that needed to be fixed. Throughout the entire time he worked, he was both efficient and courteous. He actually stayed a little beyond the two hours and did not charge me. I will definitely use him and Power Up again and would highly recommend both.

Technician Franklin was polite, knowledgeable, and very professional. He offered two options for the work, and explained in detail the work he would be performing. He also took the time to offer suggestions for the installation of outdoor lighting, which I plan to have done in the near future. He thoroughly cleaned his work area before leaving. Overall, I was very pleased with the experience.

I purchased a coupon from Power Up Electric through Angie's List for two hours of electrical service for $99.00. The electricians arrived right on time and did a fantastic job. They covered the work area with tarps and kept the dust to a minimum. They worked quickly and efficiently, and gave me a thorough explanation of what they were doing. They recommended replacing some of the old wiring, but didn't pressure me to do it. I decided to have them replace the wiring and also install a new plug-in for the bathroom. After the work was done, they completely cleaned up the area, and then explained each item on the bill to me. I feel that they gave me excellent service at a reasonable rate. I would highly recommend this company.

What a wonderful company to deal with, I was impressed by the company from the start. I spoke with Gabriel Chan regarding the deal of the day that I had purchased, and he asked me to email him with what I needed to have done and he would get back to me as he was not in the office but out in the field working. I emailed him that I needed to have 4 ceiling fans installed, 2 in the kitchen and 1 in each of 2 bedrooms, and that I also had a problem in the garage, one side had no power. Gabriel emailed me back and we set up the date of 3-7-12 at approx 8 am. Martin Chan arrived just prior to 8 am, very professional , courteous , and friendly. I explained what needed to be done, and he started immediately. He always used a drop cloth to catch anything that might have fallen on the floor, and cleaned up all the work areas. The fans were installed beautifully, then out to the garage. Martin diagnosed the problem , wires were melted from heavy use, and we needed a new receptacle. He put in a new one, checked to make sure all the power was back on , when I spoke to my husband that the light bulb was out in the automatic garage door opener, and I would get that later, when Martin said he would be glad to change it for us, which he did. Martin was extremely accommodating, he didn't have to change that bulb, very honest and explained what the problem was in the garage and showed us the burnt up wire. I would definitely use this company again, and ask for Martin, he was the best!
Description of Work: I purchased the big deal of the day, which was 2 hrs electrical service for $99.00 , I needed to have 4 ceiling fans installed and I also had a problem in my garage , the power on one side of the garage was not working. I told Gabriel that I knew this work would take more than 2 hrs and that I would pay the difference.

I am very happy with this company. Gabriel answered my phone call immediately on a weekend day,and came on Monday because of our need to have power restored before the scheduled cleaning of the house for rental. He came himself because his workers were committed to other jobs. He arrived promptly on Monday and diagnosed the problem quickly. He told us he could simply undo the miswiring done by an inept handyman, fix the dimmer switch and restore the power, but he advised us to consider adding three more circuits to the kitchen. It is an old house and the kitchen shared one circuit with the dining room, a powder room and a laundry room. We agreed, and he added a dedicated circuit to the dishwasher, another to the garbage disposal and a third to other critical outlets in the kitchen and dining room. I respect his knowledge and expertise, and I appreciate the advice he gave about making the house safer. He was very professional and at the same time, friendly and with a good sense of humor. His price was very fair. I will hire him in the future and will highly recommend him to my friends.
Description of Work: Troubleshooting loss of power after dimmer switch was installed by a handyman. Found that the switch had been wired incorrectly as had been two GFSI switches that preceded it on the same circuit. Rewired the dimmer switch and installed new GFSI switches that had been damaged by the miswiiring.. Installed three new electrical 20 amp circuits.

Showed up within minutes of scheduled time, quickly assessed what I wanted done and what he needed to do, then went to work. He checked with me every step along the way to make sure that what he needed to do was ok with me. Very neat, covered everything with protective plastic and cleaned up when done. He estimated the length of time things were going to take and was very close to the actual time required. Plus, he was very, very pleasant. I'd hire him again in a heartbeat. I used the 1/2 price coupon from Angie's list making this a real bargain. I still had to pay for additional materials such as the 20 feet of Romax, but that was expected and reasonably priced too. So, overall, I would definitely hire them again.
Description of Work: He replaced a couple of GFCI outlets in the kitchen, replace an exterior light with a motion sensor one, and made a one way switch into a 3-way switch by adding a switch by the entry door.

Frank, the founder's son-in-law, showed up at exactly the appointed time of 8AM. He quickly surveyed the work and looked at the supplies I had purchased at home depot. A few of the things I bought were not correct for the job, and he gave me the option of swinging by home depot to pick up the right items or purchasing them from him. Since home depot is close by, I just paid them a visit and he was super supportive, telling me exactly what to buy (I found this very refreshing for a service provider). The work frank did was very high quality (and mine was not an easy job because of all the pipes that were mishmashed in the garage of my 75 year old house). Ultimately, it took an hour more than he originally thought it would, but he kept me posted of his progress. I exceed the hours of the Big Deal (which I anticipated), but they gave me a fair rate on the additional hours. Overall, I would have spent an additional $250 if I did not have the big deal. Their cost included 200 of conduit and other misc items, and I spent $200 on supplies at Home Depot. The big deal is what got me off the couch on my garage project, but I would definately call them again outside of the big deal. It is nice to see a family run business with such pride and expertise.
Description of Work: I had power up wire four florescent lights and 3 quad outlets into my garage. My two car garage basically only had two outlets and one single light bulb, so this was quite a big job.
