It was good. They were great. They came the same day we called them. They were knowledgeable and quick. They were competent and professional.
Description of Work: I used the "Big Deal" that I purchased for the services of Power Up Electric. It was for 2 hours of electrical labor. They had to redo some wiring in our very old house including taking a dimmer off of a electrical switch and redoing some wiring that was inside of a wall.

It went extremely well. The provider was very responsive to my initial calls and gave me a solid estimate over the phone. Frank showed up on time, investigated the issue that I was having, recommended a solution, provided an estimate, and fixed the problem. Frank and Michael had all the materials they needed on their truck. They gave me a detailed line item pricing for those materials. The best part of the service is that it was done with high quality. All wires were routed cleanly, everything looked professional, and it worked! Many thanks to Frank and Michael!
Description of Work: The provider installed a new outdoor plug. The provider also diagnosed the problem that I was having and separated my sprinkler controller electrical from my alarm system's electrical line to solve that problem.

This was the third time I had hired Power Up through an Angie's List "Deal." Having been pleased with the company's previous work, I did not hesitate to call them again for the complicated project of running wires from the electrical gate's control box to the garage, approximately 50-60- feet away. Frank came to assess the work to be done before actually beginning the job. He explained what he would be able to do and what materials would be needed. On the day when the work commenced,Frank and Michael arrived on time and after Frank walked me through the process, explaining exactly what would be done, they began to work. Throughout the day additional updates were provided and any questions I had were answered thoroughly, patiently, and graciously. I was impressed by Frank's competence and troubleshooting abilities. He found solutions for all problems (e.g., tree roots obstructing the trench they were digging) and was fully prepared with supplies and tools to complete the job in a timely manner. In addition to their completing the work in a very professional manner, Frank and Michael cleaned up thoroughly. And, upon completion, Frank walked me through the project again, explaining what he had done. I will definitely recomment this company to others and when necesadry, will hire them again.

They made an emergency call on a Sunday. They told me up front the cost would be $335 for Sunday service. At the time I wasn't sure of the scope of work. By the time they arrived I had confirmation that the problem was confined to a faulty breaker. I directed them to the panel and showed them the breaker. All they had to do was replace a $65 breaker, which they had in their truck. They were here 22 minutes. I asked "Really? You're still going to charge me $335 just to replace a breaker?" "Yes," they said. They didn't even test anything: They had me do it. I reset the GFI and plugged things into the sockets that had ceased working. For $335 THEY should have used their tester on every outlet just as a courtesy. They should also have examined all of the remaining breakers since they were here anyway. They did no such thing. They made more than my physician. They asked me not to say in my review that they gouged me. Hmmm...they *know* they ripped me off. Use your own judgment when deciding on a vendor: WOULD YOU PAY $1000 PER HOUR FOR SOMEONE TO REPLACE A CIRCUIT BREAKER AND NOT BOTHER TO TEST THEIR WORK? Never again!!!!!

My landscape and holiday lights suddenly went out for no reason. Called Gabe on the morning of Christmas Eve and asked him if he could check out the problem on 12/26. Martin arrived at 9am on the 26th, diagnosed the problem almost immediately and replaced the non-functioning outlet within 30 minutes. This is the second time I have called PowerUp Electric and I have now put them on my "Call First" list of service providers.

Frank arrived on time and was very professional. I showed him what I needed done and he provided helpful suggestions. I knew that the work would be longer than the 2 hours on the Big Deal, but he told me about how much time each project would take. They worked quickly and cleaned up after they were done. I liked how everything was explained upfront and that there were no surprises at the end.

Frank and Michael were super - professional, efficient, considerate, and friendly. Gabriel's team did a great job of installing our ceiling mounted video projector! They didn't make huge holes in the walls like the last electrician we hired. Instead they used a little elbow grease and pulled the wire through much smaller holes and patched everything up nicely so all I had to do was a little touch-up paint and it looks perfect. I told Gabriel and Martin that I wanted it all to look smart and polished and they exceeded my expectations. Martin also installed a larger conduit for my video and stereo cables so I can add or switch out cables easier. Also since power wires can disrupt video signals Martin knew to run two conduits so they could be separated properly. They arrived on time, booties on, covered everything in plastic and did the job in the time they said they would. What else can you ask for? Very impressed!!

I called yesterday for an estimate, they came out the same day and provided a price on the spot. We set up an appointment for Friday morning, but I got a call that were able to fit it in today (the very next day after I called). How's that for responsiveness? I should note that their price was about 1/3 of what Garafano Electric wanted to charge. And Garafano told me they were too busy to get the work done anytime soon.

They did a fantastic job! Gabriel (owner) was always available to answer any questions I had and was very good at communicating what was going to be done each day. Frank and his crew were amazing! They were very thorough and always cleaned up at the end of each day, which I really appreciated. The city inspection was a breeze, which I think is a testament to their great work. Gabriel always went over and beyond to make sure I was happy. Case in point - when I showed him a small scratch on the side of my main panel cover, he replaced it with a new cover immediately. When I need any additional electrical work, I would definitely call them again!

We purchased an Angie's List "big deal" from Power Up Electric for 2 hours of electrical work for $109 plus parts. I selected this company based on the Angie's List reviews. We have had most of our past electrical work done by handymen and decided it was time to utilize licensed/bonded electricians. We needed inside and outside electrical work ASAP before Thanksgiving. Gabriel contacted us within a couple of hours of our having purchased the deal and he was able to fit us in the next afternoon. Gabriel's son/electrician Martin came promptly the next afternoon. He worked very efficiently for a little more than 2 hours and only charged us the additional cost of a circuit he needed to replace ($16). He examined the circuitry throughout the house, found the problem as to why the fuses have been blowing, replaced a circuit and advised that most of the circuitry in our 85 year-old house was updated not too long ago and is in pretty good shape. He advised that only one area has not been updated. He also inspected all of our outdoor lighting, figured out which transformers and circuits run which lights, tried to fix one transformer/timer that wasn't working and recommended that it needed replacement. We were so pleased with the work and the value that we decided to hire Power Up to replace the broken timer, determine what needed to be done to replace the old circuitry in one part of the house, and to get all of the landscape lighting up and running. Again, Gabriel was able to schedule us in right away. Martin returned the next day as promised (despite President Obama's visit to our neighborhood which caused unbelievable traffic snarls...). Martin and his apprentice were here for 6 hours. They brought a new transformer/timer which they installed and then worked on the extensive landscape lighting that wasn't working in the back yard. They needed some unusual bulbs and had to replace one landscape light fixture which required two trips to Lowes. They also went under the house (not a pleasant experience as it is quite a narrow space) and took a picture to show us why the one area of the house most likely had not been rewired with the rest of the house: the box is practically unreachable/inaccessible because of a complicated matrix of plumbing pipes/fixtures blocking access. Martin advised that, while the job is do-able, it would be expensive in labor costs because of the difficulty reaching the area and recommended that it really isn't necessary to rewire at this time. He recommended simply replacing two more circuits which he proceeded to do. We decided to hold off rewiring that area until such time as it becomes absolutely necessary. Total parts amounted to $252 and they charged $380 for the labor. The work was done professionally and they were very efficient. This is a family owned/family run business that we found to be totally deserving of the excellent reviews by other Angie's List members. We will use Power Up for all of our electrical needs in the future. We have already scheduled them to work on our front yard landscape lighting.
Description of Work: Inspected electrical circuitry throughout house, determined why we have been having tripped fuses, replaced circuits, fixed outdoor lighting and replaced landscape lights and transformer as needed.

Gabriel and Martin and their team at Power Up Electric are terrific! They know exactly what needs to be done and they do it with care and precision. They installed beautiful low-voltage landscape lights in my back yard around my pool and front yard around my driveway. Instead of using the wire that came with the lights they selected a better wire that would last much longer and hold up to wear and weather extremes. I wouldn't have known the difference and the lights would have worked initially either way, but they went the extra mile to make sure the job was done right and would last a very long time. That extra mile of quality, pride in their work and customer service is what makes Power Up Electric stand out from the rest. Highly recommended.

i started the search for an electric company to do the upgrade to our home from 70amps to 200 and add recessed lighting. i liked what I read about Power Up and gave Gabriel call and was not disappointed. He was on time, professional and knew what had to be done. i also made contact with 3 other companies. The ones that did bother to show came in a little higher and were not as responsive to follow up questions. Gabriel even offered some equipment that wasn't being at another job to lower our bill. Gabriel and his son Martin took the job and I could not have been happier with Martin and his crew. they were professional, polite, ver conscious of our home and were quick to clean up any mess that comes with any job. i would recommend Power Up to anyone interested in hiring electricians. They arrived on time when they said they would and completed the job promised. we definitely made the right choice. Our next big project is an outdoor pool, we know who we are calling.

I bought the $109 for 2 hours of electrical work coupon from "The Big Deal." Set the 3 scheduling times and waited for email or call reply for scheduling. It was the weekend when I made the purchase and noticed that the service provider was closed on Saturday and Sunday, but I made a call for scheduling anyways. Gabriel picked up and I asked if I was able to schedule with him for service sometime next week. He told me that he doesn't take messages by phone but for me to email him for scheduling, so I emailed him about contacting me by phone for scheduling. Monday, I only received a automated email, so I called Gabriel to ask him if an appointment can be made. Gabriel asked me what work I needed done. I explained briefly, and he said that he is driving and for me to leave the detailed worked on his email, so I did. He replied to me yesterday telling me that the work that I need requires more than 2 hours which I already knew and that The coupon only covers 2 hours and I already know that upon making the purchase. I decided to call for another service provider because I am in need of an electrician but have already delayed for 5 days already and I can no longer wait until he is ready to schedule.

L.A. Housing Dept. inspected our two-unit apartment building and found several things lacking, among them were improper receptacles in the kitchens and bathrooms - they were not GFI receptacles. Even though the range hoods' wiring were good, the metal flex hoses were not connected to the hoods. The ceiling fan in one bedroom was against code because the wired smoke detector was ceiling mounted less than 3 feet from the fan's blades and would affect the alarm's functionality. I called Power Up Electric and spoke with the owner, Gabriel Chan, and explained about the inspection and asked for an estimate. He asked if I could email the job description to him, which I did, and he responded within two hours. After receiving the email from him, I called Gabriel for further clarification on the pricing of some items. He explained that the estimate reflected a possible price range in case our building's electrical was not grounded, in which case more serious work would have to be done. After more questions from me, he suggested he'd send someone the following morning to check out the situation in person. A very amiable fellow named Franklin and his assistant arrived promptly and quickly saw that the place was grounded after all and the job would be easy to do. All was done in about 2 hours professionally, neatly and efficiently. In the process of Power Up getting the permit for this job, they saved us from any future problems regarding permits because Gabriel actually went out of his way to rectify ( in person!) some informational errors the Dept. of Building and Safety had on file regarding our property. All around, a company much appreciated.
