I needed a light fixture replaced on the front porch. A very simple task I thought. However, when the representative arrived he quoted a fee of $400! I told him that was outrageous and that I could do the job myself but didn't own the appropriate ladder...2 screws, 2 wires...what could be easier? He then changed me $99 for just showing up to tell me it is $400 to replace a fixture which I had already purchased. I find this extremely unethical and feel totally cheated out of $100.

They were the most professional and a fantastic company. They were on time and even called before they came. I was never disappointed.

I called Powell Electric to have a new outlet added above our wall unit. Doug came out the next day to write up an estimate. While he was writing up the estimate for the outlet, I asked him to also bid to install four recessed lights in the ceiling. So far so good. About ten minutes later, Doug had the two estimates written up. The new outlet was priced at $977 and the four recessed lights at over $2,400. We had a deadline to meet so we had Powell Electric install the outlet the next day, but we passed on the recessed lights. Since then we've had other licensed Electricians install recessed lights in our house for $150 each and other outlets for $100 each! Powell Electric proved to be about four to five times as expensive as they ought to be! The work Powell Electric performed was clean. They were punctual and communication was very good. They also patched the holes they made during wiring. But their prices are so inflated I can only feel like I've been ripped off!

The fountain in back wasn't working later. They charged me a lot of money to repair it. I just thought they were really expensive. Scheduled right away because of "hazard". Left parts out of estimate. Didn't say they had to put by code a smoke alarm at entrance of each bedroom. They wanted to raise price. I had them re-write the whole contract the way it should have been done the first day. Made it sound like the house was about to blow up, but after talking to employees they didn't seem to feel that it was nearly as urgent as made out to be. I had to monitor them each day to make sure it went as planned. Had to argue with them about what was supposed to be done specifically.

The lights in our house were flickering, so we called Powell Electric to diagnose. The rep. showed up on time, was very friendly, and found the problem quickly. We needed to replace the 40 year old service panel. Unfortunately, the price he quoted us to do the work was astronomical! His estimate was $5190. We thanked him, paid him the $99 service fee, and found another electrician here on the list who did the job for $1460.

First let me say I have previously used them to do electrical upgrades throughout my home. I knew it as going wrong when I called to make the appointment and the man on the phone asked me if I didn't want to call someone else because they are more expensive than others. I told him I have used Powell for 10 years. We needed to upgrade to 200A service to add air conditioning. Called them out and paid $99 for estimate. He quoted me a ridiculous $24,000 for what was ultimately a $4,000 job. AND he wasn't even courteous about it. I felt so cheated that I didn't even get an estimate for what I wanted but for what this sales person felt it "should" look like to be "turn key." Insanity as it's only a panel and new wire. He was condescending and had an awful holier than thou attitude. Honestly. I was so taken aback, I have never been so poorly treated by this company. But once was enough, there are no second chances in the service industry, and they would have really taken me to the cleaners.

They proposed a whole house surge protector to include a new breaker. They tied it in with the main panel. I also asked them for an estimate to replace under cabinet fixtures which they estimated $970 to install and purchase when the 5 fixtures that only cost $197 when I bought them myself. Their attitude was very poor and I thought they were downright rude. They are good at the sales pitch but when I asked for a guarantee for the surge protector it was difficult to obtain.

The bid for a motion detector, timer switched in garage, replace GFCI outlet, and install plug in bathroom was $2,350.00. When asked if they could just do the timer switch which I already hooked up, it would cost $500.00. The motion detector which was to be hooked up to the GFCI plug and run up the wall on the outside, $900.00. Unbelievable! I simply paid them 99.00 to get them out of my house. And they simply tried to get me to do other things I knew I didn't need especially per the code.

They had no A/C units on truck and wanted to install upgrade. My electrical circuit for $2600. Paid them $99 for service call and asked service rep to leave.

I highly recommend this company. As usual, they were extremely polite and professional. They first sent someone to assess the job and give me an estimate. They set up an appointment to do the work the following day. Sometimes they can do the work at the same time as they give the estimate. They were very careful with my furniture and cleaned up after themselves. They did a great job with the installation itself. If there's a possible complaint with this company, it's that they're on the expensive side. But it's worth the extra money knowing they'll show up when they say they will, and they'll get the job done right.

The electricians were great, but the manager (who was also the man who answered the phone) was rude and unfriendly. Worst of all, however, was how EXPENSIVE this company was. Trust me there are many, many better companies out there.

They charged me $100 for the estimate. The estimate was six times higher than any other company. I checked with two other companies. They were not responsive when I called to complain and tried to get my deposit back.

They wanted me to pay for top-of-the line products. He was very evasive about his costs of doing the work. I asked him to put up a fixture for me, very simple, and he wanted to charge me $400. I felt they were trying to rip me off and weren't will to do any work unless it was a large job.

I called them for an estimate. They responded at the appointed time, and when I was late they rescheduled. Their prices were high, but I was tired of not getting callbacks from other companies on Angie's list. They provided a detailed estimate and showed up when they were supposed to. They were neat, courteous and their workmanship was excellent. They also guarantee their work for one year which was good to hear!

I had received a coupon in the mail from them. I needed a sconce installed. They told me that they don't do free estimates and the minimum service call is $90.00. I went ahead and booked it. They were to arrive between 2:00-5:00. I made arrangements to be home. At 5:30 they called to tell me that they would have to rebook because they were running behind. I would never use them again because of that. My time is too valuable!

CALLED IN TO PERFORM WHAT I BELIEVED TO BE BASIC SERVICES. REPRESENTATIVE WAS PROMPT AND APPEARED TO UNDERSTAND THE PROBLEM. PRICE WAS GROSSLY EXCESSIVE FOR THE WORK PERFORMED. I ALSO BELIEVE THE REPRESENTATIVE OVERSTATED THE SERVICES I ACTUALLY REQUIRED. FOR EXAMPLE, I ORIGINALLY JUST NEEDED SOME REPLACEMENT BULBS FOR LANDSCAPE LIGHTING BUT THIS TURNED INTO A RECOMMENDATION FOR A FULL EXTERIOR LIGHTING INSPECTION AND REPAIR. AS IT TURNED OUT, THE TECHNICIAN SIMPLY REPLACED TWO LIGHT BULBS, WHICH I OBVIOUSLY COULD HAVE DONE MYSELF. THEY DID FINALLY PROVIDE ME WITH EXTRA REPLACEMENT BULBS, BUT THEY WERE THE INCORRECT WATTAGE, AND THEREFORE NOT USABLE.

THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I HAVE USED THIS COMPANY AND THEY ARE GREAT - REALLY EXPENSIVE - BUT COMPLETELY WORTH IT. AFTER HAVING TERRIBLE SERVICE WITH SEVERAL OTHER COMPANIES, IT IS SUCH A RELIEF TO HAVE PROFESSIONALS WHO KNOW HOW TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND DO SO WITH SUCH COURTESY.

THEIR DESIGN WORK WAS NOT REALLY THE BEST. IT WAS VERY AVERAGE. ALSO THE INDIVIDUAL WHO DID THE WORK WAS OF AVERAGE ABILITY AS WELL. THE WORK WAS NOTHING EXTRAORDINARY.

THEY WERE ON TIME. THEY WERE HERE WHEN THEY SAID THEY WOULD BE. THEY DID WHAT THEY SAID THEY WERE GOING TO DO. THE PRICE SEEMED A LITTLE HIGH TO ME, BUT I DIDN'T DO ANY COMPARISON SHOPPING.

IT WAS EXCELLENT. THE SERVICE CAME OVER AND EXPLAINED WHAT WORK WAS GOING TO BE DONE. THE GUYS DID AN EXCELLENT JOB INSIDE AND OUT. THEY ARE BONDED, LICENSED, LARGE AND HAVE BEEN AROUND FOR 20-25 YEARS. THEY COME BACK ONE YEAR LATER TO CHECK THE FUSE BOX AND MAKE SURE EVERYTHING IS OK.

I FELT THAT they PERFORMED VERY HIGH QUALITY WORK, AND I FOUND THEIR STAFF TO BE EXTREMELY PROFESSIONAL. THE PRICES WERE NOT THE CHEAPEST, BUT THE WORK QUALITY WAS WORTH IT.

THEY DID THE BEST QUALITY JOB BUT WERE TWICE AS MUCH AS OTHER ELECTRICIANS.
