Description of Work: B-.Two shades were installed. Employees were very friendly. When they finished installing the shades, one hung loosely. I called and they finally came back to look at it. The company rescheduled me for the following week so they could fix problem. After many calls, they came back months later and tried to fix it but could not. It did not solve the problem. Everyday I look at the sag and loose material in my roller shade. Very disappointing.

Description of Work: No matter where you live in Los Angeles, this is THE place to call for window/blind treatments. They are: kind, courteous, professional, GREAT LISTENERS and just plain good guys. When I told them my price limit, they stuck to it and never once tried to change my mind to purchase something more expensive. Additionally, they really know their products. I needed window treatments for two bedrooms on a rental unit. Jerry, the owner, suggested I purchase something that doesn't allow people to see in, but that allows plenty of light to filter in. He also understood, without me having to say it, that I wanted both bedrooms to match as closely as possible. Bam! He did it. As soon as you talk Jerry or Greg, his employee, you can just sense their interest in helping you make the very best and economical decision. I said it before and I'll say it again. These guys are just fantastic and there aren't enough words to describe how grateful I am for their service and help.

+ -1 moreI priced the home improvement stores (they could not fulfill the non-standard size and generally used steel frames) plus two other suppliers. For the heavy duty aluminum sliding screen doors I wanted, Pioneer had the best overall price of the highly rated suppliers on Angie's List. I worked with Greg at the shop and Jose in the field. They were on-time, understood exactly what I wanted, and delivered the new doors on schedule and on price. The quality is excellent. The service was excellent. I highly recommend Pioneer & Santa Monica Screen & Shade and will use them again when I have other screen and shade work to be done.
Description of Work: I needed three new sliding patio screen doors, one of which was a non-standard size; and I wanted heavy-duty aluminum frames since the doors are used heavily and are exposed to the salt air near the beach.

+ -1 moreJerry came out and looked at our house (which was recent construction and never had any window coverings) He suggested an American made product Hunter Douglas. Even though we received no other bids we thought Jerry's price was reasonable, he has been a business a long time and had great ratings on Angie's list. The deciding factor was our dog did not only not bark at him he actually let him pet him. This does not happen to any stranger! Well that was it and we ordered the coverings and they were expertly installed by his long time employee. He does not contract out the work to an independent installer. We are very happy with the job from beginning to end. When we need additional window treatments we will definitely be calling him back.

The office staff was very nice and responsive, the very-personable owner came out and gave me an enormous amount of help in figuring out what style shades would work best in the small bungalow. We knew we wanted "black-out" shades for our bedroom as the neighbors have very bright security lights, but that was all we were sure of. Jerry helped me through the whole choices process, made suggestions on style and utility and color and took very precise measurements. About 2 weeks later the shades were installed, every single one of them is a perfect fit and work perfectly. the installation took only about 2 1/2 hours. I love the shades' top-down feature, that gives us so much light and privacy at the same time.
Description of Work: Installed top-down/bottom-up Hunter Douglas "Duette" shades on 9 windows, in 4 different colors and 3 different privacy options in our 1949 bungalow.

Jerry has been in the business for about 30 years...very knowledgeable, offered great suggestions; very personable. Good price for 12 window treatments. Hunter Douglas shades were delivered within the promised time (4 weeks). Jose/installer arrived at the scheduled time, installation took a little over an hour. Greg/office manager kept me up-to-date on the process. Love the shades. Great working with Jerry, Jose, and Greg. I will use their services again.

I believe he would do a good job installing the window treatments. We decided to wait on the purchase. We want to replace some of the windows first before we install the window treatments. This company seems very trustworthy and reliable--I would hirer them.
Description of Work: The owner came out for the appointment. He was very knowledgeable about roller shades and shutters. He had recommendations about black out shades for really bright rooms. He had great ideas. You could tell he has been doing this for a long time. We had three other estimates but he seemed to know the most about his product line. He was prompt and professional.

+ -1 moreA man came to our home with multiple samples, and helpfully steered us towards very good ideas. We ordered the five custom-sized panels and gave him a deposit. When the time they arrived promptly, installed them quickly and cleanly, and showed us the proper way to handle and maintain the shades. It's been almost two years now, and the shades still look great and work perfectly. This is a very professional, responsible and no-nonsense outfit, which I would definitely use again.

He knows his stuff, inside and out, and he knew precisely which window treatments would serve my needs and look great. He also suggested I go a shade darker than my original choice, and he was absolutely right. Jose, the installer, did a quick and clean installation and hauled away the old window treatments. Very professional, friendly, and courteous. The shades look great, and I couldn't be more pleased.

He is very honest and personable, and he was very helpful in guiding me through the decisionmaking since I was a rookie at this. There was a bit of a miscommunication when the installation happened, but Jerry cleared things up quickly and to our 100% satisfaction.

+ 1 moreJerry came shortly after our initial call and gave us a very clear estimate for the work in the kitchen. He showed us all the different materials and helped us pick. We were considering installing security film as well, which he pretty much talked us out of, saving us money. Liking what we were seeing, we asked him to add another set of French doors to the estimate. He did, and ended up lowering the price even further. After us taking weeks to decide, we gave him the OK on May 27th, at which point he ordered the shades. He warned us it would take nearly three weeks for them to be ready, and offered to install temp shades in the meantime, but we opted not to. They called when the shades were ready and we made an appointment for a few days later. They arrived on time and within an hour had installed all five sections. They were quick, neat and courteous, and gave us tips for handling and maintenance.
Description of Work: Needed shades for French doors and large window in kitchen, as well as another set of French doors in a separate room.

+ -1 moreGregg came home to give us an estimate. Brought samples and advised about size and type of blinds. One of the blinds in bedroom had to be customized because it was longer than normal. It took about three weeks until blinds were delivered by factory. People at the office were always very responsive. 50% paid when we put the order and the rest when blinds were installed and we were satisfied. Gregg and his aide came at the scheduled time and completed the work efficiently and promptly. They took away the old vertical blinds.
Description of Work: Install horizontal wood blinds (2) in bedroom and mini-blinds in bathroom.
