I found Pieter on Angie's list with excellent recommendations. He came out very quickly after I called and set an appointment within the week to do the job. His workers are excellent. I would highly recommend him.

Pieter and his crew are amazing! I was hesitant when I first met Pieter. He came in, was very quick and then just gave me a quick quote that he then emailed... very raw. But he had such great reviews on here and while I could be sure, he seemed very efficient. I'm not sure why I ended up choosing to go with him in the end other than a feeling. He was the highest price of the 3 quotes I received. But in the end he was worth every penny. I wanted to refinish each of three floors in a different color. He said it would take a week. I said ok, I allowed 2 before I scheduled the painters. They came in and sanded everything down. Then he did some test stains. I found the upstairs color right away. But he just wasn't understanding the color I wanted on the other two floors. Eventually, he found somebody else to come up with the stains and they were beautiful. I picked the two I liked and we moved on. As I could walk on the top floor to see the other two until they were done, I was nervous and excited. When I could finally walk to go see them, I was devastated. They looked painted and cheap. I was just ill. I waited a day to call Pieter because now we were already running behind b/c of the search for the right color and the painters were going to be there in four days. He already knew they weren't going to look and apologized. He said to do the paint and they would come back after and that he would have his painter come in after to touch up anything they messed up. I wasn't happy but at least I was relieved that he was standing behind his work. They worked on samples in their shop while the painter was here. And then, when the painting was done, they came back in with the appropriate colors. It was not pleasant to live through the remodeling process (I had delayed moving in by a month but nothing finished in time). But they were very responsive to my concerns when things weren't left to my (often high) standards. They vacuumed the upstairs (my living quarters during the process) daily after they left and did a great job of covering things in plastic during the sanding process. The bottom floor they ended up having to do a third time because it didn't turn out right again (but they didn't even ask me, they just knew it wasn't good enough). In the end, the floors looking AMAZING!! One floor isn't quite what I was expecting. But it's not like you can just pick a color like paint and have it work. And even though it isn't quite what I envisioned, it is still gorgeous. At the beginning Pieter said he would make the floors look expensive (b/c they looked cheap when I bought it) and he did. I'm absolutely thrilled with how they have turned out. He and his crew are truly artists and class acts. They stand behind their work 110%. I'm sure he didn't make a lot of money on the job in the end (because of the multiple redo's). But I'll recommend him to all of my friends as they start to refinish floors because he is one of the few people left in the contract business that strives to make the customer satisfied. I wish all of the workman were as top notch as Pieter and his crew. Things don't always go as planned and but having somebody willing to take responsibility and fix it is priceless. And I'm sure I'm going to enjoy these floors for years to come!!

Everything went well, however, as with any house hold job, there were unforseen issues. After all of the furniture in the house was removed and safely covered in our backyard the carpet and linoleum was removed. We were nervous because my wife and I didn't know what to expect. Well, the overall condition of the floorboards was good, nothing needed to be replaced, but there were numerous pet urine stains. Pieter said that there were so many stains and they were so embedded into the wood that we would not be able to get the blond look we had hoped for. Pieter instructed his workers to take two extra days to apply a commercial bleaching agent to lighten the stains as much as possible. It was worth the extra wait and expense ($500) to get a look we liked. The condition of the floor is excellent; we are very pleased with the results. There was a slight mishap when one of the workers broke a small glass table top, but Pieter made good on replacing it.

We had a very tiny section of hardwood flooring and we couldn't get anyone else to do it. He offered to do the work for free if we just tipped his crew a $100. They did excellent work and overall we were very pleased.

Pieter was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. He was very punctual on the day he stopped by to give us a free estimate, and worked efficiently, taking the measurements he needed and gathering the info he needed from us. Within 3 hours of meeting him for the estimate, he had emailed us a full write-up including cost of materials. We had originally planned to hire Pieter only for the installation, but he got us a great price for the exact model of flooring we wanted (better than anything we were able to get) so we asked him to source the flooring for us too in the end. We were able to start work right away after finalizing the terms of the project. The vendor Pieter worked with for the flooring material, Frank's Hardwood, delivered the materials on time and as promised, and the next day we were able to start the demolition of existing carpeted and hardwood floors, and begin installation. The entire project was around 1100 square feet in total spread out among 1 living room and 3 bedrooms / closets. The bedrooms / closets were straightforward given the existing carpet, but the living room had existing glue-down wood flooring that had to be removed first (not an option to refinish given the distressed nature and thin veneer of the existing engineered flooring). The removal went by as painlessly as we could have hoped - no small matter given how much grief other vendors had given us when we asked them to remove the existing flooring. From start to finish, Pieter and his crew were able to finish everything in 2 days (started Thursday afternoon, finished on Saturday around noon), right on time and as promised. Pieter's crew worked very quickly and efficiently throughout the 2 days they were on site, and were true professionals. They left the work site neat and clean at the end of each work day, and promptly notified us whenever any issues arose that needed our sign off (for example, when a slight unevenness in the plywood subfloor in 1 room needed to be addressed). Although the entire project cost was significant, we were very happy with the price once we saw the finished product and saw how high quality the work was.

Pieter Rousseau returned my call promptly and set up an appointment to see my damaged hardwood flooring and give me an estimate. Since we needed the work performed on the weekend, he tacked on a modest "weekend" fee that I thought was more than reasonable for the convenience. Cecilio Aldava (works for Pieter) arrived promptly on Saturday morning and set immediately to work, and was finished with the repair and refinishing within 4-5 hrs. The replaced & finished floorboards blended in beautifully with the existing vintage flooring; I can even say this 2 years later! I would call Pieter again in a heartbeat!

Pieter showed up on time, gave us a very reasonable estimate and did the job quickly (2 days). We had holes in the floor where the old floor heaters were and Pieter wove in wood that looks like it is original. The floors turned out beautifully and we would definitely recommend him/use him again.

Pieter's crew did a great job. Its probably no surprise given all of the A ratings he has. His crew were very careful on every step and help minimize dust in our house. The job took about 3 1/2 days not counting several weeks for the wood to acclimate to our house. Pieter is an expert on wood floors and was generally easy to get a hold off but he is popular so scheduling your job may take a few extra days. We would definitely use him again when we re-sand our remaining floors in the next year or two.

Mr Rousseau was punctual for the initial walkthrough and was able to give us a quote on the spot. He was also available immediately, which was important to us, and his estimate was competitive. After accepting his quote, he and his crew were punctual on the first morning and took good care to protect areas that weren't to be sanded, by taping off and hanging plastic sheets. The work was done quickly and well, and with very minimal damage to the trim. In fact, the guys were actually done a day earlier than planned, as the job took two - rather than three days - as initially estimated. The floors had suffered considerable damage from foot traffic to and from the pool outside, and they were able to completely repair the areas affected, so that they now look as clean and as beautiful as the rest of the floor. All in all, it was a pleasure to do business with Mr Rousseau and his crew - I would definitely use him again in the future and would recommend him to others.

If you're looking for a company to refinish your hardwood floors then look no further. Pieter and his crew were excellent! Professional, on time, knowledgeable and hard working. They didn't take any shortcuts and practiced all the safety requirements including properly bagging and storing their salvage. Pieter was able to work around my schedule, started on time and finished when he promised. Best of all there was no upsell.He gave me a quote that was far less than others (I found others were jacking up the price). They even repaired/replaced some wood as necessary and included it in the price. I highly recommend Pieter and his team and plan on using him in the future.

Based on past Angie's List reviews, I decided to have Pieter give me an estimate for removing carpet from 2 bedrooms & a hallway, & replacing with hardwood. Pieter turned up on time (along with his cute canine friend, Bono). I liked his no nonsense approach, & he advised on the types of wood which would look good & work within the area. Later that day he e-mailed me his estimate. I thought the price seemed fair. Installation was $2.50psf. Pieter also recommended a place I could go & look at wood floors & perhaps purchase direct. I decided to go ahead with the job, & Pieter was able to schedule the work within a few days. The crew turned up on time & got to work. Upon lifting the carpet, it was discovered that the sub floor was damaged. Pieter advised there would be an additional charge for removal of the damaged floor, & repair to the original floor. It didn't turn out to me very much ($350). I was having the house painted at the same time, so both crews had to work around each other. It wasn't a problem. The job ended up taking a day longer than anticipated (1 day became 2) due to the sub floor problem & my decision to have new baseboards installed. The crew cleaned up after themselves & left everything perfect. I am delighted with my new floors & would completely recommend Pieter's services. He's direct & honest. A really nice guy.

Estimates were given. There were no surprises. The preparation was done efficiently. I was consulted as to the floor color and the finished work was supported by the sample. The work area was left clean at the end of the day. I'm sorry that I have no other floors to stain.

They were very trustworthy; I gave them the keys to my house to do the work while I was gone. The only downside was that some of the stain dripped onto a couple of risers on our staircase that my Husband and I needed to remedy ourselves.

This is the second time I have used Pieter to refinish/repair hardwood floors. He and his crew are some of the most professional, qualified and competent people I have ever hired.Pieter can very quickly a**** the scope of the work to be done, how long it will take to do it and how much it will cost. He does not miss the mark on any of these fronts. This last job had some extensive termite damage which he discovered on the job. He immediately let me know what he saw and told me what it would take to fix it. I gave the go ahead and it was done, very reasonably. Pieter and his crew are up front, straight forward and very hardworking. What else could you possibly ask for. Oh yes, the quality of their work is superb. The floors are gorgeous. What a pro!!!

I wasn't sure what to expect as he was very quick with his estimate, just gave my condo a glance, but in the end he did a fantastic job. He just seems to really know what he is doing.

The floors of our 1930's house were in extremely bad shape when I called Pieter for an estimate. He and his crew repaired and refinished our floors and they look amazing! They also did a terrific job cleaning up after they finished. I can't believe I didn't do this earlier! Pieter was very responsive and professional and they did the work very fast and to perfection. He was also very helpful with suggestions about color since it can all be overwhelming to a novice. He really knows his stuff and was a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend him.

I cannot say enough about Pieter and his crew. From our first meeting for an estimate thru his on time and on budget completion date they were spot on all the way. They exceeded our very high expectations. The quality of their work is superb. Our floors are gorgeous. I will be using him again very soon on another project. Look no further, Pieter is the guy!!

Pieter and his crew just completed their work on my floors a little over a week ago, and I am very satisfied with the results! I'm so glad I was able to find this company thanks to all the Angie's List reviews! My experience: I was looking to get the carpet removed and original flooring refinished to natural color (no stain) in my new home prior to moving in. I was hoping to get my floors done within the week that I started looking for contractors. After getting a few similar quotes from some other contractors, I decided to join Angie's List last minute just in case I could find something better. I am so glad I joined, because I was able to find Pieter's company thanks to all the other user reviews! Lucky for me, Pieter was available that same day to do the onsite estimate, and was available to start work the same week. His offer was definitely much more competitive than the other quotes I received, and on top of that he was also willing to work with me to meet my budget. Given the good reviews and his affordable pricing, I asked if he could also install new baseboard moulding, got an estimate, and decided to let him do that too. My house was built in 1953, so it's an older home. All the contractors had warned me about the potential for pet stains, or floor damage underneath the carpet, so I was hoping for the best. However, after the carpet removal and sanding, we encountered a major problem... there was pet urine/water stains all throughout the house! Since there was a layer of varnish covering my floors after the initial carpet removal, the pet stains weren't evident until after the sanding was completed. The stains were everywhere! I was really worried because my research indicated that most contractors usually just replace those damaged areas. However, given the extent of the damage, I was looking at replacing 80% of my floors. Pieter suggested two options that were more affordable: 1) he could use a dark stain to hide the pet stains, or 2) try bleaching the floors to see if he could eliminate them, and then staining the floors back to the color I wanted. He was also upfront about the expectations. He made it clear that the bleach was not a guarantee, and that even with the dark stain, if you looked hard enough, you would still see the pet stains. After showing me an example of the dark stain, I decided to go with the bleach attempt, since I wanted my floors to have a lighter finish. Unfortunately, the bleach only took care of about 50% of the pet stains. Since it would still be a lot to replace, I ended up choosing to go with the darker stain to hide the remaining damage. However, the bleached floors did help lighten the color of the floors even with the darker stain. I was a little concerned about the appearance of the floors with the darker color, but in the end, my floors look great! It's been over a week since the work has been completed, and I am still appreciating the great work that Pieter and his crew did for me. I've received a lot of complements on how great the floors look. The pet stains look like natural discoloration in the hardwood so they're not an eyesore, and are only evident if you look hard enough and know where to look. Overall, I enjoyed working with Pieter throughout the entire process as he was very responsive, honest, and upfront in answering all my questions. He was also very clear and straightforward about his work and what I should expect, so there weren't any surprises before or after his services. I would definitely recommend Pieter to friends and family in the future, and have actually already recommended him to another friend!

When our tenants moved out we discovered that there was large hole in the floor. Not really the tenants fault. Just simply 80+ year old floors. We made an appointment with Pieter and he came out almost immediately to give us a quote. When we gave him the go ahead for the repair he was nice enough to quickly crowbar it in between his larger jobs. We couldn't have had a better or experience. When it comes time redo our floors in a major way we will certainly be calling Pieter. Repa

Pieter was ontime...and met my very difficult timeline so that I could move on schedule. Also he promptly returned to add new wood to a foyer addition that was added AFTER the initial work was completed. The added foyer oak flooring was a tricky "lace in" job and required a transition in flooring and finish to the rest of the house. When completed it is nearly indectable from OLD to NEW. There were a couple of small issues that needed attention after the initial refinish job and Pieter was prompt to come back to fix and make sure i was happy. I am a very particular and high expectations homeowner and am sure to make this clear with all my trademen before they begin work. This being said Pieter met my expectations and is definitely a SERVICE oriented tradesman/businessman. My only complaint would be in the very minute details...as stated I am VERY particular and expect near perfection in work to be done. All in all, I would definitely recommend Pieter to others and would MOST certainly have Pieter on my "short list" for return projects.
