Pieter Rousseau Hardwood Floors

I contacted peiter to refinish my floors this past summer. we got lots of quotes. some people said they could only screen the floors, others said they needed to be replaced. pieter wouldnt hear any of it. he said they might need a little repair but it was the original hardwood and it should be preserved. that not only would be the cheaper thing to do but would look better and maintain the value of the house more. I was skeptical but he made me a believer. We had to delay the work for months because of delays by other contractors. He stuck with us and this past week they finished and it looks amazing. when we finally were ready for them to start the crew got to work immediately. They were careful, professional and the work is top quality. they were also very patient with us when we had trouble deciding on a stain and made lots of samples until we found the one that was right. i cant say enough about them all and about how great the final product is.

Pieter's guys did a great job. They were very attentive to detail and made sure the boards (which - by our choice - vary in color quite a bit from board to board) were dispersed in an interesting pattern across each room. They also did a good job leveling several rooms before the floorboards were installed. The price was very fair for the amount of work involved, and Pieter was accommodating and flexible in scheduling the work when we wanted it done. My wife and I are very pleased with the results and highly recommend Pieter -- would use him again in a second.

It went much faster than expected and it looks great, only time will tell if the floor will resist scratches and damage as much as we hope.

First of all I am late on this but needed to do before the deadline of 31 Oct. and I waited for what I believe the end of the job was delivery of registers for the floor as he told me he would provide (which by the way took from Nov 2012 till Aug 2013.) I contacted at least 10 people for estimates before I hired Pieter (not all from Angie's list). Pieter was very interested in the job which consisted of 2 bedrooms, living area, 2 halls, and dining area. By any stretch of the imagination not a lot of square footage but most of my top level of a beach home. He called me because my email address does not have my name in it and wanted to know if I was interested in him doing the job as he was very interested. There was something that made me hire him - not sure what. When the job was complete the floors looked great - but what happened after that turned me off. When the TV stand was moved back in place it left a huge scrape in the floor as it was rolled pn the floor and that was not noticed the on the day it was moved. I noticed this the Sat. after the completion of the job when washing the windows. When I called him he sent out his crew and I think he believed it was a minor scrape but it was a deep scrape in two line. With confimation from his workers he told me he would repair the damage. They did that but not to my satisfaction. It looked like railroad tracks going across my living room . This was more noticable at night and when he came to see the repair job in the morning he said this was not a bad job. I was surprised as I thought he would take pride in his work. But then in the same breadth he told me he would fix it to my expectation. I jjust wanted the floor to look like it did the day they were finished. He agreed to refinish the floor and make it match the rest of the floors. He did refinish the floor but again not to my expectation. I am not a floor person but I could tell the texture of the floor did not match the floor of the other rooms but he kept walking back and forth to see if it did match. Finally he agreed with me. I paid extra to make sure it was right. Not norm but I wanted my floors right. He had no problem taking the money. He had also agreed to install the doors to the laundry area after completion of the job. When I asked his help if they were going to do that they said they did not do that. When Pieter came by he asked about the doors - guess what - his workers were there to install the doors. I had wanted my registers to blend with the floor and when the job was done I told Pieter that and he told me that this would need to be done when the floor was laid. He said he could do it but would require more sanding and not problem with matching. I declined and took him up on his offer to have the registers you set in the hole. Not what I wanted, especially after the rework on the main living area. I guess in the end I learned alot but would have thought that he would have asked about the registers and what I expect from the job. But he is in one minute and out the next. He knew what needed to be done - not what the customer wanted. In reading some of the resent reviews I noticed that he sent in his painter to cover the damaged molding. When I asked him about mine after redoing the floot he just kindoff looked at me - like what do you want me to do. Finish it - did not happen.

I wanted to have someone else look at a job I was going to have done and I called Pieter's listing because he was highly rated on Angie's List. Pieter answered the phone after the first ring and said he could be at my place within 3 hours for a consultation. When he came over, I knew I had to go with him even though I already had someone else semi-lined up. He clearly knew what he was talking about. His price was about the same as the other two guys I had come over but his included an additional layer of lacquer over the floor (3 total). He was also available immediately, whereas some other folks I called couldn't start for a few weeks. He officially started two days later and he went over the wood tinting options that would look best in my house with the decor I was planning once his team pulled up the floor. I couldn't be happier with the end product. Pieter was so great to work with. We definitely recommend him to everyone!!

It went extremely well. Work was done in 2 days.. Neat and clean.

I called Pieter and he asked me to text him a photo of the damaged floor and my available times to be at home, which I did straight away. Having not had a reply, the following day I sent a follow-up text, to which he replied "Need to see it" This is horrible customer service. I gave him my available times as he requested, and he made no effort to schedule a time to come see it. Not to mention that doing business over text messaging is sophomoric - not professional.

They showed up, measured, said they would give an estimate - and then they never did and never called or followed up. Missed work for the appointment so it was annoying.

Excellent service and extremely meticulous. His bid was also very competitive. And Pieter and his team did not leave a speck of dust. After we noted a couple of nicks in the paint where some tape had been placed, he immediately sent in his painter, who did a beautiful touch-up job. I could not ask for more professional and timely service.

Left a message and received a return call. Return call lasted all off 2 minutes, I was told that I would receive a callback to arrange a visit to provide an estimate. Call never happened. Even if this job was too small for them a call informing me of that would have been nice.

Pieter's crew showed up on time each day and was very professional. They stuck to their one week timeline, allowing me to keep my remodel construction timeline in tact. The hardwood had been damaged by the prior owner's pets, but Pieter fixed everything. His crew even did the small things like transition flooring between tile and hardwood floors. I would recommend Pieter to anyone.

We researched several contractors and got several bids. Pietr was one of the last ones and we chose him primarily based on his ability to do the job for the price we wanted and in the timeframe we needed. We also liked his professionalism and competence. He came through and finished the job well on time and on budget. There were no surprises and he made sure the job was done right. His workers were courteous and polite and despite the upheaval of installing new flooring throughout a furnished condo it went smoothly. Nothing was damaged in the process and they were very careful to point out any issues so there were no surprises. After six months, the flooring has held up beautifully and we are very happy with the work.

If you are considering having your floors refinished - this is your guy. Pieter and crew are incredible! I cannot emphasize how positive my experience was. Pieter is punctual, professional and very honest. They are flexible and very accommodating. I had all the floors in my home refinished. That included three staircases, three bedrooms, closets, landings and door moldings. I also needed areas repaired where we had removed built-in furniture and there was no floor at all. There was no way you would ever know that there was a repair done when they were finished. They cleaned up after working each day and they did a great job containing any dust while working. After getting a number of quotes I believe the price was very reasonable. I have received rave reviews on my floors. I highly recommend this company and their workmanship.

He fixed it and matched it. This was a gem of a find that made my relationship with angie's list worth while. Great attitude, great workmanship and great follow up! He was fabulous.

Pieter was easy to get a hold of and came right out for an estimate. He and his crew were able to start the next week, which was great as we were on a tight deadline for getting it done. They ran into a couple of problems in the hallway and one of the closets but took care of them and did not charge extra. The floors had many stains from past owners with pets and they were able to blend them or replace the boards very nicely. We had no idea when the floors were last done, but we do know there had been carpet on them since 1975. They did an amazing job for such old floors(House built in 1941). Would definitely hire again.

He gave an estimate that was a fair price for the work, he was not the lowest, but not the highest either. Some of the contractors are ridiculous, you certainly need to price it around. I agreed to the price and also ended purchasing the wood from him as well. He installed all of hardwood floors and they look magnificent! The job was very professional and he finished ahead of time. I would recommend him without any reservations, but do bargain with him.

The floors look great - they made the repairs look seamless. It looks like a brand new house. The crew was great - they were very responsive. Pieter was easy to reach via phone/text when he wasn't on site.

The work was excellent. You cannot tell where the old boards end and the new boards begin. The floor looks great and we are very, very happy with it. As the floor settled in, one of the boards shifted a tiny bit and Pieter responded to my call immediately and fixed it and it's been perfect ever since. I also felt that the cost was very reasonable. I highly recommend this company!

Pieter called me back within 15 minutes of my initial email. He came later that day to give me an estimate. A few days later, he emailed the bid. I called with a few questions, accepted the bid, and we agreed on a date. I didn't have any other bids, but it seemed like a fair price. They moved the furniture to another room, did the job, and moved everything back to its place. It took a total of 3 days for sanding, and 3 coats of stain. They were able to match the color of the floor to the hardwood floor in an adjacent room. They were neat and kept the walls and drapery clean. Also, I was out of town and they were let in by my assistant, so we didn't have to worry about being inconvenienced, exposed to fumes, or other disturbances. Fortunately, nothing was missing when we got back. Based on quality, price, and results, I would definitely recommend Pieter Rousseau Flooring and wouldn't hesitate to use them again when the time comes.

Called him out to the house to match the stain in our Kitchen with the rest of the house. Showed up on-time as promised. Job was probably too hard for him and he never followed up with a bid or a phone call. I would not trust him to do a job that was challenging or has any hair on it. I don't think he is very comfortable with his skills. An honest cant do it, not worth my time etc would have been nice.

Pieter's crew did an excellent job. Its a month after the job was completed and the floors look outstanding. They put on 3 coats of poly, but since it was cool and their were tiny little air bubbles they hand sanded the floors two more times and put an extra coats of Poly on the floor (at no extra charge) each time. So the job took an extra 2 days, but its been well worth it. Then a couple days later after the job was complete he sent in his painter to touch up my white baseboards where any black stain may have shown. The painter was also top quality. Very happy with the job. If you want a top notch floor job at a fair price you should use Pieter Rousseau

Pieter gave us the best estimate of 6 different floor refinishers. He came the next day, confirmed the estimate and set a start date. He identified a few faulty boards and said he would replace them at no additional cost--which he did. He was very business-like, nearly brusque, but never rude. His crew arrived 2 minutes early on the set day and got right to work. They were very nice, efficient and did a terrific job taping everything and protecting the rest of the house from dust. After the floors were sanded four different stains were apllied (in small squares) so we could choose a color. The crew helped us commit. The floors are beautiful. The wonky boards were replaced as was another board that was identified during the sanding. They were stained and given 3 quotes of poly. They look terrific. Pieter was responsive, available and very professional. It was easy and a pleasure doing business with him and his terrific crew. I would highly recommend them.

They did an absolutely wonderful job on my hardwood floors. I am so happy with the work they did. They were on time every day. They did everything for a great price. I can't say enough what a good job they did. I am so pleased with them. They were very polite, knowledgeable, professional and responsive. He had a great crew, I was really impressed.

It went great. They played with the colors until they got a great match.

Pieter's team did an excellent job on our original wood floors. We hired him to conduct repairs to damaged areas and refinish the entire house prior to moving into our first home. He was flexible while our closing date was delayed a couple business days, meaning his team would eventually have to work on Thanksgiving day to finish the job in time for our scheduled move. As promised, the house was ready in time for the move. We are very pleased with the result, and recommend anyone looking to have work done on their wood flooring call Pieter.
