Pieter Rousseau Hardwood Floors

Description of Work: Twice Pieter came to my rental property to give an estimate. He was prompt, courteous and professional. I will use him if I go forward with the project.

Description of Work: I had about 1600 sq feet of hardwood floors redone. Mr. Rousseau was prompt in responding to my initial call, came to see the house, sent me a quote and did the job (5 days). All of this happened within a 2 week period. The men on his crew were great, friendly and very careful with my furniture that had to be moved. The floors look fantastic and I didn't have to move out of the house. While I couldn't use the kitchen I did sleep there each night which saved money on a hotel. Overall a great experience.

Description of Work: Pieter and his crew were very professional, did a beautiful job. I had movers put my furniture back and they scratched the NEW flooring. Steve (one of the managers) came out same day and fixed it with no charge. Nice, polite, respectful workers.

Description of Work: Talked to Pieter on the phone. Explained him what the job was about. He told he would call back as soon as possible and asked to send a text message with the name and phone. Never called back.

Description of Work: We needed to get the floors redone quickly. They came out right away. Gave us a fair price and finished the job in record time. More importantly he transformed some very old and damaged floors into a piece of art.

Description of Work: Home built in 1956 with hardwood floor in 2 bedrooms, hall way and living room. Floors were dark, stained and dull. I need the project done in two phases so that I can continue to live in the house - not easy. We started with the bed rooms and hall. I got Pieters name from Angies list. He came right over and gave me an estimate consistent with good pricing I had seen elsewhere. We set a date based on my requirement of dustless equipment (there is some fine dust, but nothing like without the vacuum - I put plastic down first so it was fine) He showed up right on time and went to work. They sanded and we saw that there were pet stains. Options included bleaching, staining the floor to match, and wood replacement. I chose wood replacement since it was a small percentage of the total and I wanted light floors. I watched them replace the stained boards. Since the old boards were varied in color and shade, they mixed in different colors and shades of new wood to match. They are masterful at this and need to be! After wood replacement they sanded again at least twice. They do hand sanding and prep in harder to get at spaces. They put on 3 coats of finish - the first on the first day of work and another each day for 2 more days. The floors look beautiful - better than I expected. You can barely tell where the new boards were added. I had thought about carpeting, new wood floors, etc. For the price and look this is the best. I know they rent sanders and other equipment at Home Depot for do it yourself, but for my job I needed a quality professional like Pieter. He is scheduled to come back for the living room next week - as soon as I move back into my bedroom.

Description of Work: My experience with Pieter was not as others had described. I needed to have a job done and he was lots of fun to speak to on the telephone. The second he walked into the house he asked "Do you want the marble removed?" It was brand new. I explained I wanted pergo installed because of our pets. He said it was cheap (and it was). He wanted to install hardwood everywhere and I told him I did not think it would work out for me. He suggested sanding a staining the existing hardwood. Red Flag. Three other contractors had said it was pet stained and not useable. He told me all the sub flooring would have to be removed to install pergo. As for tiling the kitchen, he said his partner would have to check it out. He gave a very rough estimate, although we had scheduled a week in advance, and his measurements were off by 200 square feet. Our job was about 5K not including materials, and he never followed up. My read is that he is a hardwood specialist and no doubt excellent, but is uncomfortable with any products other than hardwood. Great personality and cute dog. I found his estimating skills and attitude highly unprofessional. I was very upset when he left, as I really wanted to hire him. Fun guy, but a very unprofessional estimate, He tried to trade up the costs the minute he walked through the door. Perhaps he was having a bad day! My husband said not to post a negative review as he knows where we live, but 6 weeks later I am still fuming.

Description of Work: Pieter was great. He removed our old floor, replaced parts of the sub-flooring, and put down a beautifully rendered hardwood floor, all exactly within his cost and time estimates. He promptly answered any of our concerns that we expressed over email or on the phone, and quickly and professionally dealt with every step of replacing our floor. We will use him again for the next floor job we have, and whole heartily recommend him to anyone with a large or small flooring job.
