Description of Work: I had used them a long time ago, and called them to do some work in my kitchen. I called several times, I was promised a call back did not get one. Ultimately an appointment was made and capped and they came out. They charge $150 just to come out. They gave me incorrect information regarding the lighting system I chose (I confirmed this with the lighting company wrap) which would have cost me hundreds of dollars in on necessary equipment, and work. They gave me a "ballpark" estimate of $3000 to finish the work, and promised that they would get an estimate and scope of work to me the following week. That was about a month ago. I have not heard from them. The information they provided about the amount of work that needed to be done was not accurate, and would have resulted in significant unnecessary costs. For $150, they did nothing.

Description of Work: We've been using Phillip Yee for many years. They installed our heating and a/c, but don't remember how much we spend. They service this every year at a cost of just over $200. Additionally, Phillip Yee updated our electrical box, which was probably 2000.

They were incredibly professional. I called during a heat wave and they were able to come out and inspect my broken unit the same day. They arrived with the replacement unit on time and performed all services according to contract. Friendly, professional and I will definitely use them again to replace my furnace when needed.

Phillip Yee and co came out to do an estimate on fixing our broken Carrier package unit. They said it would cost $3850. They said the compressor was broken and a bunch of other stuff was also wrong. They encouraged us to consider buying a brand new unit for $6500 and said it would be "greener" and more efficient. My husband and I weren't so worried about the repair, as the escrow company had to cover it, not us, but if a new unit was going to be purchased we would have to pay the difference between $3850 and $6500. So we decided to get a second opinion. We got Emin from Emin's AC and Heating to come out after finding him on Yelp. Emin said it would cost about $2500 to repair the unit, and $5200 to replace it. But, he said, there was no reason to replace it, as it had a good 7 to 10 years left on it. Needless to say we are going with Emin. I will say that the people at Phillip Yee were very courteous over the phone, but otherwise I'm afraid they are at best very overpriced and at worst unethical in their business practices.
Description of Work: The company sent someone to inspect the AC/heating package unit in the house my husband and I were about to buy. The AC had broken 2 days before escrow closed.

We set up a time with this company to service one of our tenants HVAC's, explaining to them from the that we normally get invoiced for services performed and not to try to bill the tenant as according to the lease this type of maintenance is the landlords responsibility. They called the next day, asking to switch the appointment, stating that it was too early and reminded us to have a check ready on arrival. We explained to them that we are a very large company and that most of our vendors send invoices. We invited them to take a look at our website to see who we are as our corporate offices are not anywhere near the tenant. They maintained that they are not willing to change company policy leaving us to find a new vendor at the last minute for repairs.
Description of Work: No services were performed; only an appointment for service, which never happened.

Jason Yee arrived to do an inspection on our A/C which had recently failed. He proceeded to tell us that the compressor was bad along with several other parts and that repairs would exceed $2,000 with only a 90 day warranty. Therefore we should replace with a new unit at a cost of $3,500 and get a 5 year warranty on parts and a 10 year on the compressor. He then told us that our furnace was obsolete and showed signs of leakage even though I told him it had been pressure tested for such leaks a year and a half ago. He said it was on his last legs and that it should be replaced for $4,500. I trusted him on the A/C but disagreed with him on the furnace and decided to seek a second opinion. I found another company willing to install an excellent unit for a few hundred less and had him come out to take a look at it. This 2nd opinion guy told me the compressor appeared fine and that the unit only needed a new capacitator and a hard start booster for a cost of $266.00. This 2nd opinion guy told me this when I was willing to have a new unit installed so you know the guy is honest. I then had him check out the furnace which Jason Yee said was "obsolete" and he said it was a good high efficiency unit with no obvious signs of problems. This 2nd opinion guy said I should have the Gas Co. come out and do a free check. Needless to say I elected not to have him do any further work on my "obsolete" furnace which has never given me any trouble. This experience with Jason Yee has led me to the conclusion that he is either a fundamentally dishonest person or an incompetent technician who I would not entrust to fix a desk fan. Either way I beg you to heed my words - STAY AWAY from Phillip Yee Heating and A/C.

He got here on time, but seemed disinterested from the start. This is a shame! I had dealt with Phillip Yee before and had been happy enough with their service to be leaning towards going with them for the A/C installation. I didn't like that Jason called me by my first name, either.
Description of Work: Estimate only for central air. Jason was most disinterested. Did not look at existing furnace, did not ask for specs. Told me I'd need a 5 ton A/C, which would have been incompatible with my 4 ton furnace. (My house is a little under 2K square feet and from what I can read, 4 tons is plenty - the heater surely works just fine). Gave me a vague estimate of $12K for new furnace and A/C, $8.5K for just A/C (13 SEER, single cycle). No info about "out the door" or plus tax and electrical etc. It is hard to evaluate the price, as I have no idea what it represented.

I was EXTREMELY disappointed that the technician claimed carbon monoxide when there wasn't any because he really had no proof. He also tried to induce fear in me and the others living in the house, telling us we were in extreme danger and our only solution was to pay $8000 for a new furnace. This is extremely upsetting when you reach out to a company you think you can trust based on their Angie's List ratings, only to find out it isn't true.
Description of Work: The technician came to our house to give us an estimate on fixing our noisy air conditioner. While there, he looked at the furnace as well and claimed we had a carbon monoxide leak. This concerned us a lot so we got a second opinion. The new repairman, using an instrument specifically made for carbon monoxide detection, showed me there was no leak in the house.

We called the company to do a yearly/seasonal diagnostic of our system. Upon inspection they discovered serious wear and damage to our heating system that might lead to dangerous carbon monoxide gas leaking into the home. Jensen (the technician that did the inspection) was helpful and clear about our various options. He offered an estimate for a new heating furnace and upon further consultation's found the estimate to be more than fair (they even applied the cost of the diagnostic to the full cost of the furnace replacement). We agreed to have the suggested work done and they sent another technician in a few days, Jim, who was also helpful, efficient, and further assisted us with some upkeep on our system that would add further efficiency to our overall system. We couldn't have been happier with our experience.

Jason Yee arrived on time to view the project. He behaved professionally and the estimate arrived on time as promised. The estimate included contact information for quite a few references, which is great. Downsides: estimate was much higher than expected (and much higher than another reputable contractor) and he said he could tell me, without looking, that all my ductwork needed to be replaced. He was right, but I would have preferred him to actually investigate before giving me the (again, quite high) estimate.
Description of Work: We asked for an estimate to move our air conditioning unit and add an electrical outlet.

I was very impressed with this company. First of all, the office staff was always responsive. Second, they charge less for the initial service call than many others - $65, waived if they do the repair work. Third, they're local to the east side and a family owned/operated. Most importantly, they worked incredibly hard to solve problems created by whatever stupid company originally installed our floor furnace. Our furnace had been installed right against the ground, so it could never be opened for maintenance work! Jensen and Jose spent about 2 1/2 hours doing difficult excavation by hand in our tiny crawl space, and another 2 1/2 hours installing a whole new valve system. All this work had to be done basically lying down in dirt. Throughout the job they were professional, good-natured, thorough, patient, and worked non-stop - and for much longer than they had anticipated. The furnace now works beautifully, and I think the price was very reasonable for so much effort and hassle.
Description of Work: First, a service call to diagnose why furnace wasn't working and to replace thermostat. Second, a return visit to install the other needed part: a new pilot generator. This precipitated the discovery that our floor furnace had been improperly installed and couldn't be worked on. Third, a final visit to excavate considerable ground around the furnace (under the house) so that it could be opened, and to replace the entire valve assembly. $990 is for all work, all visits, and includes $325 for excavating labor.

Description of Work: There was a lost of airflow on a brand new system installed by another company. Other company couldn't figure out why. Jason came and did a thorough investigation for about 2 hours. He determined I needed a larger return air unit, which was installed a few days later. The problem was resolved. Everyone I dealt with at the company was a pleasure.
