Wowed by the great reviews on Angies List, I asked Mr Handyman for a quote to fix a back stairwell and deck, which had some issues with rotten wood. I expected someone to come to the property, check out the issue, and provide a written quote for the work. Very straightforward. With Mr Handyman, it was a debacle, they were rude, dismissive, unreliable, and bottom line, I don't believe they were telling me the truth. How they got so many good reviews I have no idea. Here's how it went down: 1. Weeks and weeks of phoning and emailing to ask if they could go out there and give a quote. At first, they asked me to send photos, because they were too busy. So I did - but I still asked them to take a look in person, because there might be other issues they saw that needed attention. I got the runaround for over 3 weeks... "my computer crashed", "the guy's not in today", "his cell's out of battery.." 2. Finally, the man on the phone said that his guy had visited the property when no one was in, and made an estimate. He sent me a three line quote by email. The quote made no sense - so I asked if I could talk to the guy who actually saw the property. He said, "he's busy now... it looks like I sent you the wrong quote." And he sent me another three line quote. Here it is: "Replace stairs Labor would be $3952.00. Due to the corrosion we would not just replace the landing. The deck/landing would be $2964.00 in labor.Materials would be between $3,000.00-$4000.00 depending on the type of wood you want to use." 3. This quote - which took a MONTH to arrive - is THREE TIMES the price of every other quote I received. It shows no details, no understanding of the job concerned - I didn't ask for the stairs to be replaced, only the damaged steps, what corrosion is he talking about exactly, and what materials? How long would it take? Other contractors provided detailed pdf attachments, with specifics and dates and cost options. THE BOTTOM LINE: I don't believe Mr Handyman ever sent anyone to inspect the place. And I think they pulled this quote out of their a**. In other words, they lied to me over and over again. I can't definitely prove it, but it's pretty obvious to me. I wouldn't trust this company. They're rude, unprofessional, and in my opinion, brazenly dishonest. Note: We got the work done in the end, using another company with no Angies List reviews - and it cost us under $3000 all in. And we're very happy with it.

I did not accept provider's proposal, it was too high.However, provider was very courteous on the phone.

He did a good job I was originally quoted six hours but he was able to complete it in four hours and gave a price break for it.

The handyman was very courteous, on time, and performed work efficiently. My contact with manager in Westside office to schedule return visit was not very pleasant. He was rude and do it my way or the highway attitude. A little customer service would go a long way.

I called Mr Handyman last Friday, having used their services on 3-4 other occasions. The appointment was set for Tuesday between 12 noon and 3pm. Marco, the technician, arrived at 1 pm and listened to our concerns about the problematic areas of the fencing and the newly discovered problem with the hip rafter. We brainstormed some ideas on how to repair the rafter and came to an agreement about the best course of action. While Marco started to work on the fence, my husband and I went to Home Depot to get the wood needed to fix the rafter. About one hour later, the fence was fixed: I could not be more pleased with the quality of Marco's work. The work on the hip rafter and the remounting of the formerly dangling phone cable bracket were equally outstanding. The area was left clean. Marco was only technically proficient, he was professional and friendly.

icWas able to schedule service same day, which was quite nice. they were very responsive. Can't remember the name of the service guy who came out, however, he was very punctual--they even called to say he was on his way. He was also very informative and friendly. He let me know that they have a flat fee and that he could do other things in the time allotted, and to have a list of other items. He was very efficient and completed the closet doors in well under an hour and was able to also replace an electrical outlet. I would use them in the future, but would buy the materials for them to use. They will got to the local hardware store to buy what they need, but they add on a surcharge of about 100% for the parts--whcih does cover their time to go get them. Great service to get odds and ends completed.

It was good but they were a little pricey. Other than that they do good quality work. I spent about $500. They did a very good job, they cleaned up very well and they were on time.

Mr. Handyman's worker arrived on time to assess the failure of my kitchen swing door to properly swing back and forth when pushed. The door had been damaged by Sears during a flooring installation. On the first visit of Mr. Handyman?s worker in January 2014, he assessed the door and stated that the door possibly could not be repaired, and may need to be replaced. Upon further assessment he determined that he could replace the mechanism that makes the door swing to see if that would resolve the problem. The mechanism had to be ordered Online. At the end of the visit he gave me an Invoice for the day's work. I requested that the company charge me the total amount of the job once the job was completed since a part had to be ordered. I explained to the worker that Sears would reimburse me for the repairs; therefore, I needed a final invoice upon completion of the work that stated all the charges. The worker ordered the part Online and returned in approx. two-three weeks to install it. During the installation he encountered several obstacles but was able to overcome most considering the age of the door. The door screeched when it swung after the part replacement but the worker stated again that the door probably needed to be replaced. He presented me with an invoice that included the cost of the part and that day's work. I did not know, (the Invoice was not written in detail), that the amount of that Invoice didn't include the charges for his initial visit. In the following days I presented the Invoice to Sears and they paid me according to the Invoice that I sent to them. Shortly after the installation of the new part the door started making a louder, annoying, screeching sound every time it swung open or close. When I contacted Mr. Handyman to request that the worker return and do something to stop the screeching. I spoke to the office manager who informed me that the worker refused to return stating that nothing could be done other than replace the door. I asked to speak with the owner, David Silverman, but was told that he would contact me later. He did not contact me. I endured the screeching until April 2014. At that time Mr. Handyman's new office manager called me stating that my bill had not been paid in full. After discussing this matter with him I found out that the charges for the first visit had not been added to the final bill. Again, I wanted to talk to the owner. After several conversations with Mr. Silverman we were finally able to resolve the problems. During the period of time we spent trying to resolve the problems; Mr. Silverman stood me up for an appointment, canceled an appointment and sent me a corrected invoice for the wrong amount. In the end, however, he made amends by reducing the charges for the initial visit by $75.00. He personally came to my home to stop the screeching noise by applying oil to the spring mechanism of the new part. I was not however, able to recoup the initial charges from Sears due to the closure of the agreement I had with them back in February. The door is functioning well after the application of the oil. I did appreciate that Mr. Silverman apologized and reduced the cost of the initial visit. I was thankful that he was able to stop the screeching noise.

Went very well. They were on time, friendly, and helpful. They did the job quick and I am using them again this week!

Scheduling an appointment was easy. Office staff was very helpful. The serviceman arrived promptly and I reviewed the work that needed to be done with him. He went to a nearby building supply store only a mile from my home and purchased the non slip strips.. After installing the non slip strips, he then nailed up two fence boards that had come down. He inspected a motion sensor light and repositioned the sensor.. He changed an oven light bulb for which I already had a replacement. He installed some weather stripping I had in the back door, but it was too thick and the door wouldn't close. He was running out of the contracted time and so he removed the weather stripping and advised me about what to do about closing the gaps in the back door. He inspected and gave me an estimate for refinishing the front door. I was unhappy with the time it took to accomplish these simple tasks and with the price --- $305 for labor and $154 for materials. (I understand and agree with the travel time and mark-up). I complained to the owner, Dave Silverman. After hearing the details outlined above, he made a generous adjustment in the price of the work. I have used this provider in the past and was very happy with his work. I would not hesitate to recommend him. He is honest and fair and will try to rectify anything that goes wrong with your visit. His workers are knowledgeable and competent. I think his prices are high, but you get what you pay for.

Absolutely nothing negative to say about him. He was very good, knowledgeable, approachable, qualified. Everything one would look for in a handyman. I was very happy with the work!

Our overall experience with them was very good. The price was reasonable. The job overall went fine. Nothing specific stood out about them but their service and professionalism was fine. I would tell others they were good.

He cleaned out my rain gutter and raised it on one end so it would drain water. He water tested it to make sure it would work. He was available to come on the same day I called him. It was going to rain and a big problem would have been created if he were unable to come. He cleaned up after himself and my yard was spotless. I would use him again if I ever needed another handyman.

It went well. There was no complications. They were in and out. They were only here for two hours to do the job. They're very efficient and very friendly. They did a good job. They were on time.

Really great service. Danny arrived on time, did an accurate job in a reasonable amount of time, & he cleaned up the mess and dust left over from job with vacuum cleaner. He was a very professional and amicable. Would use again and recommend to everyone.

Work was done very promptly and efficiently with great results and he went out of his way to save me money. Who could ask for more?

They quoted us a good price. They actually worked under the hours they estimated so they saved us money. The cost ended up under $200. I would definitely hire them again.

The service was fine. The problem was when I scheduled it, the office person did not convey it to the service tech. Therefore I called to find out when he would be at my home..she had to contact him in the field, and he was able to come, but after the original agreed time. Job was done late in the day but was completed.

Anesta from the West LA office coordinated the service. Anesta was cordial, punctual, professional and coordinated/scheduled the work. Danny T was sent to perform the work. Danny T was very skilled, educated, meticulous, and extremely prideful in his work. Not your typical handyman profile. My ceiling drywall looks as good as new. The cost was a tad on the high end, over 400 for the job, but you get what you pay for. Plus Danny spent 3+ hours on my premises Overall one of, if not the best, experiences with handyman service I've had. I have made lots of handyman calls with my primary home and my rentals. A+ from my only experience with Mr. Handyman WLA, and Danny T is the best.

The peopleI dealt with both in the office and in the field were very friendly and knowledgable. They fixed the problem and were very fair in their dealing with me. If you want a premier handyman they are your company.

Everything about them was very professional. They did an excellent job and I would highly recommend using them.
