We found out about MC=E3 Electric through Craigslist.com and were somewhat nervous about hiring someone we didn't know. Marvin, the owner of MC=E3, put us at ease pretty quickly with his professionalism and fair pricing - more importantly though he put my son at ease which is no easy feat as my son is a very high-end general contractor who really knows his business. My son was out of town and couldn't perform the work himself so Marvin explained to him over the phone exactly how he planned to handle the job. My son approved MC=E3 for the job and we moved forward. Prior to the start of the job, Marvin was so great about responding fast to the few questions and concerns we posed to him via voicemail and text. That kind of communication is often hard to find with contractors and it made the whole project so much less stressful for us. The guys at MC=E4 are talented and hardworking electricians, especially Marvin, the owner. He seems to genuinely like what he does which is huge!. He's not just in it for the money and he actually takes pride in a job well done. He listened carefully to our requests and concerns and didn't drop the ball with regard to ANY of them. His intuitive sense about how to do our jobs yielded optimally functional and ELEGANT results . A specific example of this is how Marvin and staff painstakingly moved pipe under approximately 25 feet of ivy so that the backyard aesthetic was preserved. We look forward to hiring Marvin and his crew again.
Description of Work: We needed distance-electrical wiring for a swim spa and also complete wiring for a freestanding workshop with ceiling fans, exhaust fans, and multiple wall outlets.

These young kids have a lot to learn. Marvin was very eager and on top of things during the walkthrough and estimate, but it all went downhill from there. When I asked what I needed to do to prep before work started, Marvin said, "Oh don't worry, we'll take care of everything." No, they didn't. When they arrived, they tromped through the house, pushing stuff haphazardly out of the way, and began sawing into the walls for access. Dust went EVERYWHERE and got on EVERYTHING. My naivet? for not realizing that would be a part of it, but that's why I ASKED what needed to be done to prep!! I got out old sheets and proceeded to cover everything, but it was a little too late. As they worked, several times they requested to use MY tools. They used my inside broom to clean up outside without asking permission. They needed attic access, so I gave permission for them to cut a hole, but they did nothing to stabilize it. After the final inspection, I went back into that closet to find that not only had they not done ANY cleanup in there, but the entire ceiling had been broken due to their carelessness. Marvin has no sense of spacing, and is determined to make every switch in the house a 3-way switch. I had to argue with him SEVERAL times about this, despite clearly stating at the beginning of the process that I did not want any 3-way switches. I asked for an outlet near the fireplace mantle, and showed Marvin three different locations I thought were acceptable. He ignored them and tried to put the outlet smack dab in the middle of the wall space above the mantle! I caught it and told him again the places I wanted the outlet to be, and he argued with me saying ?it?ll be easier here?. He doesn?t really care at all what the client wants. He just wants to come in and whip out the wiring. They are not able to handle any unusual situations, either. I had a strangely placed switch that sat about 20 inches from the doorway, and about 5 ft from the ground. He assured me during the estimate and walkthrough that he could move that switch without a problem. When they got into the walls, he moved it down but said he couldn?t figure out a way to move it closer to the door. I offered several suggestions, but he kept saying he didn?t think they would work. After he left, I moved the switch myself by nailing in ONE CROSSBRACE into the frame. That?s all it would have taken, and he could not accomplish that. I also have lath and plaster walls, and he and his team could not seem to figure out how to place the boxes so that the switches and outlets would be flush after the plaster repair. I caught some of the boxes before they left, and they reseated them while I watched over them, but after they left, I still found more, and have had to reseat them myself. They also tried to shortcut installation of the boxes by using drywall screws through the sides instead of wood nails through the designated slots. Thank God for the inspector. Lastly, I told them I would be handling the plaster repair separately, so as agreed they did not put faceplates on, but left them for me to do afterward. Again, Marvin paid no attention and left me the wrong kinds of plates - he only left two hole outlet plates despite multiple GFICs, and he left plain lever switch plates even though he had installed paddle switches! Yes, in the grand scheme it?s minor, but it demonstrates how little he cares about the end result. Marvin wooed me with his initial clean cut manner, good pricing, and the fact that he was willing to include telephone, cable and network wiring in the quote. But it wasn?t worth the aggravation they caused, and the crapload of cleanup and ?little fixes? I?ve had to do after the fact. I do not recommend them.
Description of Work: Full house rewire, with telephone / network / cable run at the same time.
