LA CUSTOM TILE

From first phone contact to job beautifully done, we couldn't have asked for a better experience with Mark of LA Custom Tile. We have a 4-foot tall, urn-shaped cement planter in front of our house that is 60-70 years old. After a recent exterior paint job, we were debating what color to paint it. My wife, bless her heart, came up with "Wouldn't it be great if instead we covered it with a broken tile mosaic." Since, I had made a mosaic table 40 years ago (that's still our kitchen table) she thought I could do it. We went online, picked out tiles and ordered what I estimated we would need. When they arrived I soon realized I was in way over my head and emailed LA Custom Tile with my unusual job request. Mark called within a few hours and offered to come by and take a look at it. I sensed that, although he mainly does kitchen and bath remodels, he was intrigued by the artistic challenge and I felt he truly understood what we were after; (after finding him on Angie's List) I had seen his website photo of a broken tile backsplash. In addition to having master tile setting skills, what's even more important is that he cares. He was flexible to work with and gladly collaborated with us on this project. We are thrilled with the results and would trust Mark with any tile project.

Mark was very helpful in finding a tile that would fit the area and that I really liked. The demolition (removing carpet and underlying laminate floor) was very messy and took longer than expected, although Mark was very careful about covering furniture, etc. Because he was working without any helpers, it made the job more difficult. Then he uncovered some unexpected issues with my living room floor, which resulted in re-cementing the entire area - again more time added to the project - but no one's fault. Finally the tiling could start. The rooms look great but the process was not easy.

Contacted Mark on Tuesday for an estimate to install a tile back splash. He was able to come and give me an estimate the same day and perform the task on Thursday the same week. He did an excellent job and was extremely professional. I highly recommend him, his prices are very fair and he has a passion for his work. Very happy with the service and the job performed!

What most people what in a contractor is someone who cares as much as they do about the job- but can do it a lot better. Meet Mark. He is a person that cares so much about his craft that you have to remind him to stop working to drink some water occasionally. He?ll tell you that his work is a meditation of sorts for him ? and it definitely shows. In a world of chain stores and companies with employee ID numbers ? Mark is a one-man operation ? which means total quality control. You see a review you like ? you will get the person that prompted it. It is for this reason that you might need to understand that a wait for your job start may be necessary. But having something done right the first time beats having to deal with it twice. This job was in an 81 year old bathroom reno that among other things had very small porcelain tiles that presented quite a challenge ? but Mark approached it with humor, innovation, and an admirable work ethic. He?ll be the first person I call the next time I am ready to face another reno project.

I emailed Mark via his website after reading all of his good reviews on Angies list. He got back to me and was very nice. We set up an appointment for a week later. I had a flood in my house and was anxious to have a wall of glass tile replaced. The morning of our appointment he said a job ran over and he couldn't get to my house on time and asked if we could change to the next day. I understood and said that was fine. He came on Sunday could not have been nicer. 3 days later I never got the estimate. I texted him and never heard back and then emailed him again asking for an estimate. Absolute silence.

We needed to install a backsplash behind a sink in our renovated kitchen and we found LA Custom Tile on Angie's List. Mark provided an estimate and was able to complete the job quickly and according to a custom design using multicolored ceramic tiles. The work performed was excellent and we love the new look that he helped bring to the kitchen.

Mark was great to work with. Though he is very busy, he was able to fit us in prior to the end of the year which worked great for us. Mark laid out his plan and was reasonable on price. He and his assistants were very respectful of our home, and he took especially great care of our very curious dog in the process. Mark's work is top notch. Everything is high quality and he pays great attention to detail. And when we changed our minds or asked for a new addition to the project, Mark was happy to adjust and ensure that we were happy. He was also very knowledgeable about the process and options, including color and material choices. This proved very helpful at critical junctures throughout the process, as Mark helped us make choices that we would have struggled with otherwise. I chose Mark because of the reviews on Angie's List. I had a particularly difficult backsplash to install because the tiles were made of many different sizes of small colored glass. Mark was outstanding in his work, a perfectionist. I am very pleased with the wonderful result in my kitchen.

Mark did a great job at a very reasonable price. I did the demo work on the master bathroom in my recently purchased home. Mark came in and completely redid the balance of the bathroom which included installing the pan (hot mop, cement, etc.), reinforcing and redoing the wood floor supports and floor of the house, installing drywall, installing lights and air ducts, installing fixtures, installing molding, repainting and, his specialty, installing beautiful tile work. My only small complaint is that Mark did go over his estimated time and estimated price (not by too much, though) but I am partially to blame because I expanded the scope of his work and the project also had unforeseen issues (e.g., the wood joists under the floor needed to be replaced). Overall, great job especially his tile work which is top notch.

He was helpful from the start, and suggested a ceramic tile that i wouldn't have thought of. It was a great choice, and he started work right away. His estimate was right on and the quality of his work was outstanding. The job went smoothly, his team did a great job moving appliances and cleaning up afterward, and as an added bonus he found a way to restore other tile in the bathroom to their original shine. Best thing about working with LA custom tile was the quality of the installation -- I am an architect and am very particular and they did a meticulous job.

Based on Angie's List reviews, I chose L.A. Custom Tile to contact regarding my small tile project. Within a few hours after sending an email through Angie's List on April 12th, Mark responded to my email and requested that I call him for an appointment. Two days later, on April 14th, Mark came to my house to discuss the project. I knew the look I wanted for the front porch and steps was that of wood plank flooring but I wasn't sure if the porcelain plank "wood look" tiles could be installed over the existing brick and mortar. I showed Mark the sample of tile that I wanted to install and he assured me that he could do the work and it would look beautiful. With that assurance, I made my final decision on the tile and emailed Mark on May 14th with the specifications - thickness, width, edges, bullnose and heights available. We decided that the 8" height would work best. Mark came to my house again to take final measurements for the amount of 8" and bullnose tiles and grout to order. Once the product was purchased and I was ready to proceed, Mark and I set up an appointment for the installation. He arrived promptly and worked diligently over the course of three days, always cleaning the area before leaving. He is professional, respectful and takes pride in his workmanship, which is exceptional. Mark has an engaging personality and is a pleasure to have around. The final result of my "wood look" porch and steps exceeded my expectations. Mark loved it so much he said he wished he could take it home with him! I have had numerous compliments and everyone thinks it is actually wood. Mark has great attention to detail and is a true artist and perfectionist. I live in a 60-year old house with three bathrooms that need remodeling and I'm looking forward to working with Mark on those projects in the near future. I highly recommend Mark! I contacted LA Custom Tile for a quotation on removing and replacing bathroom floor tile. Mark came over the same day to look at the project. He immediately knew what the problem was and gave me a verbal quote right then. I asked him to please send me a written quotation which he did later that day. He was able to start within a couple of days. On day one Mark removed all of the floor tiles, expect those directly beneath the toilet. We only have one bathroom and he left the toilet for our convenience. (Thank you Mark) He laid all the other tiles and grouted on day one. Day two he removed the toilet and place the tiles underneath. On day three he came over to seal the grout. Mark is very professional and very nice. He was very concerned about not disrupting our home. He made very little mess and cleaned everything up before he left each day. I would definitely recommend Mark and will use him again.

Mark came out the same diay I called him. He looked at the area to be done and examined the glass tile. He gave me a great price that included all the materials for the doing the job. He started the job the same day! Wow, talk about service. Mark prepared the area in a way I have not seen other tile contractors do before. He was very careful to keep the cabinets and counters clean from the bonding and grout materials. He set my tile in very straight and cut all of it very precise. He has great attention to detail. Mark works very fast and is a great friendly guy that was so easy to get along with. It was more than a job to him, it was a labor of love. The best part was seeing my wife's mouth drop and big smile on her face when she later saw the tile job. It made me the hero! I had trouble picking out the grout for the glass tile, but Mark picked it out right away and it really enhances the glass tile. Mark is really an artist, with an Artist eye, not just a everyday tile guy. I would highly recommend Mark and LA Custom Tile for all and any tile jobs you have. I would use him again anytime.

Mark came out and gave me a thorough estimate of the work that would need to be done. He offered several options and was able to save me money and time by carefully removing the floor tiles so that they could be reused. He completed the job efficiently and within the timeframe he promised. I was very impressed with his work and the respect he showed my home. We contacted Mark because we liked the idea of hiring someone who specializes specifically in tile work and who works for himself, not for a large company. We thought Mark's initial quote was very reasonable, and he stuck to his original estimate throughout the project. In addition to high quality craftsmanship, Mark took design elements, such as helping us choose the best color of grout, seriously.During the project, Mark contacted us ahead of time about when he would arrive, and he never arrived late. He was careful not to scratch our wood floors and protected our countertops, and cleaned up after himself each of the 4 days. Mark took pains to do the job right and not take shortcuts to save himself time. When we had a last second small tile project in the family room, Mark fit that into his schedule as well. The finished kitchen looks great.Mark is a very polite, friendly and personable guy, which made it fun to work for him. We are now planning to hire him to do a complete remodel of our bathroom. We very much recommend Mark for any tile, kitchen, or bath remodeling jobs!

Mark did a mignificent job.I gave him a lot of leeway on designing a pattern for the accent tiles and the job looks really beautiful. I will definitely use him again on my other two bathrooms!

FANTASTIC!! Mark was super professional and did an outstanding job. From the estimate all the way through to completion Mark was on time, courteous and very neat. When I told Mark the tiles I wanted had been discontinued ( but I had already tracked them down) he offered to call the tile distributors using his contractor's number so we could get them at wholesale price rather than me just purchasing them at retail. His initial estimate--though a great price-- was a bit vague in the details (I like to have everything in writing). When I pointed this out to him, he redid it in a line item format in an hour and got it right back to us. He also put a "completed by" date in the contract and met it no problem. He and his colleague showed up on time every morning and his carpet removal was so neat and precise we did not have to do any touch up painting on the side walls when he was done. I wish I could post before and after pictures so people can see what a difference Mark's work made to our house--our entrance way and stairs now look elegant and tailored. I would definitely recommend Mark to anyone.

The grout in our shower would not stick and I was told it could be because our shower pan was leaking. Mark came out and inspected under the house. He told me he would need to take out the existing tile on the shower floor and about one foot up the wall. Mark did the job quickly and he was very neat. He always went above and beyond what was expected, even doing things that I had not requested. He was also able to repair a pipe to our bathroom sink, which saved me having to call a plumber. I would highly recommend L.A. Custom Tile to anyone needing tile work.

Mark did an excellent job. He was very reasonable with the price and finished ahead of schedule. My wife, whose family is in the tile business in a different state, asked him several specific questions about the job. He answered them all with knowledge and patience. We've received many compliments on the work he did and we have been very pleased with it overall. We highly recommend him.
