They were great, they were prompt, they sent me and itemized bill, but they were just too high. They were in and out quick and without problems.

The job went very well considering how big it was in scope. Leonard was always available when we had questions. His workers are good and are conscientious about the work that they do. There is always a job foreman on site to supervise the work but again Leonard visits the job site most days. We were very happy with the job which was done in the end and know that our house is now safe and secure and sits on a solid foundation.
Description of Work: We engaged LC Construction to replace the ENTIRE foundation on a 1925 house build on a hillside. The original foundation was failing and was not bolted to the sill plates of the house, in addition it was crumbling due to excessive moisture exposure.

LC Construction did an EXCELLENT and thorough job on another big foundation repair job! I wish I could give Mr. Canta's LC Construction an A++++ rating if Angie's List had one! I have rated price as "Fair" because, I beleive that he gave us a "fair" price, not that he was too expensive or anything like that. Again, Leonard Canta was pleasant, professional and prompt to the job site. He called to say he was running late, but still arrived 20 mins. early. His Workers showed up He was clear and detailed with his paperwork and CLEAR with what he would do and how long it would take. He noted that there were "un finaled" permits with the City of LA's Department of Building and Safety and took it upon himself to offer to call them in so that it would be better for us as property owners/managers. Like many homeowners we had no idea that there were "un-finaled" permits on the property(ies) and that we could be fined for this (we had unfortunately hired and paid another "construction" company, to repair the foundation at this house. They made no repairs, just placed some "Simpsons" that according to inspectors were "not to code" in some areas under the house, in some cases the "Simpsons" "had undermined/made the foundation worse" according to one of the non-biased inspections we received. He is Excellent. He provides an Excellent service at a fair price. You WILL NOT be disappointed.

HE SAVED ME MONEY and gave me peace of mind. He also told me to have my new homeowners insurance co. call him if they had any questions. Now that's good service!
Description of Work: I didn't have service done but Leonard was very knowledgable about earthquake retrofitting and told me if my house was built in 1978 and on a concrete slab it was already bolted and I didn't need to get it retrofitted.

It went well overall. Mr. Canta was prompt and courteous. Provided paperwork requested. Finished quickly and cleaned everything up. The owner spent time talking to us about a concrete pouring job we needed but declined to do it because he stated that he focused on foundation retrofitting. His workers ruptured the gas line so we had to get the Gas co. out to repair it which prolonged the job. According to a subsequent contractor, this company "did exactly what was listed on the paperwork", with the caveat that the job was done "per city code" but "neglected to reinforce concrete or add Simpsons" which he stated would have "bolted the house.". According to this subsequent contractor, the job was "incomplete", however, the city inspector said that they had done "a very good job."Although we had done research on what foundation retrofitting and/or bolting were, my husband and I have very little first hand knowledge like most homeowners and know absolutely nothing about foundation retrofitting and/or bolting. The jargon used was confusing and we were surprised to hear this from a subsequent contractor. UPDATE: After several different and unbiased inspections it was confirmed by a private inspection company, the City of Los Angeles, theCSLB and a private company hired by a bonding company; that LC Construction did an EXCELLENT and thorough job on our foundation! I wish I could give Mr. Canta's LC Construction an A+ rating if Angie's List had one! Again, he was prompt (arrived 15 mins. early), was so professional and courteous and CLEAR with what he would do and how long it would take. He is excellent. You WILL NOT be disappointed. We have already contracted with him again to do another big job for us.

LC Construction staff were prompt, efficient and courteous. They completed the job on time and on budget. Daily clean-up and a final clean-up was completed. Property was left in a clean state. The L.A. City Building and Safety inspector was also impressed with the high quality and thoroughness of their work. There was one minor incident that could possibly happen on any job. It happened when the LC Construction staff damaged a buried gas line and it had to be replaced by So. Cal. Gas Co. Overall, I had a very good experience, and would use LC Construction again. I would also recommend them to others.

Leonardo was great. The work went smoothly and was completed as discussed and on time. He said that there would be no cracking of interior walls but there was. There was also a crack in the exterior foundation wall, but he came and repaired the cracks satisfactorily.

We had a fantastic experience with Leonard and his crew. The pricing was comparable, crew was reliable and work was extraordinary. They actually went beyond the agreed upon work for part of the job because it was just the correct way to handle the problem. Leonard was an excellent part of our team. He is fair and professional and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again. I highly recommend them.
Description of Work: New construction required a poured foundation of approximately 200 square feet. We also had a grading/drainage issue that needed to be addressed.

All and all, the experience was a positive one. Leonard's crew was hard-working, and very congenial. They were respectful, and as unobtrusive as possible. Leonard came almost on a daily basis to check on the progress of the work, and his foreman Marlon was there daily. A couple of times there was somewhat of a lack of communication about what was taking place, especially when some of the ancient plaster came crashing down from the ceilings in my upstairs bedrooms. Leonard assured me that this was not anything that was structural, and reminded me that he had warned me this might happen. Still a bit traumatic though. Also, a couple of times the workers didn't show up, and I wasn't informed in advance about it. (It was because rain had been forecasted for the next day) But, my house is about as level as it's going to get now, and it feels very secure. The underpinnings of my house look great, and now I can sleep better knowing that in the next earthquake we'll be better protected. I had done my homework before hiring Leonard to do the work, calling the references he had provided, and all were very positive. Also, the other estimates I received ranged from several thousand, to, in a couple of instances, TENS of thousands of dollars more (one was for $85,000!) for the same work, so I think I can say we got a pretty good deal for the money. I would recommend L C Construction anytime.

Work occurred within stated time frame and there were no cost overruns. Estimated cost was what I finally paid. The workmen really completed a difficult job at a very reasonable price. Another foundation repair company wanted to charge be $85,000 plus or minus, which means I could have ended up paying more!
Description of Work: Foundation work and house leveling: Old and cracked foundation of a 1926 hillside house was removed, new trenches were dug deeper, iron rebar reinforced concrete foundations laid and bolted to frame, house was leveled with jacks, and 4 x 4 beams and plywood shearing were added to reinforce and strengthen the walls and floor.
