Technician was very professional and thorough; explaining what he was doing and recommendations. Met separate person that provided estimate to finish installation of furnace and replace furnace and a/c. I felt confident that this company would install and very good product. Unfortunately, the cost was much higher than other estimates I received. If you don't want hassles with your heating and a/c and cost is less of an issue, than definitely go with J/W.

He came and performed the service but did not even offer to perform service on the other unit...I guess they did not need the business

They did nothing and charge me for a visit. I was returned my money.

I bought this thinking it would be worth it, especially since it included a new filter. $69 for A/C tune up. The company was nice and set up the appointment quickly over the phone. She asked me the size of my air filter, which she patiently waited for while I looked. She told me she needed to get the measurements so that the worker could bring the filter on his truck. When the guy shows up he is nice enough. Tells me pointers on how to keep the A/C or heat working more efficiently by pointing the air vents in different directions or buying a different type of vent grill. He ASKS me if I want him to go up in the attic to look at my system, but tells me he doesn't need to. He then goes outside to the fan, and takes off the cover and does a nice job of removing all the twigs and leaves from the cooling area. He then lubes up some part of the wiring/tubing coming off the fan. Then comes the hustle to get me to sign up for a maintenance plan. It sounds reasonable enough, and affordable. I decide to do it. He then quickly gets on the phone to one of the office people (I assume) to brag of his accomplishment of converting me into a maintenance plan. (At that time I start to rethink this...) I then ask him if he is going to change my air filter. He says that he doesn't have the size on his truck and he would have to fabricate one, which wouldn't be as good quality. But he assures me I don't need it right now because my filter isn't dirty. By this time I'm disgusted, and as soon as he leaves my house, I call the company to cancel the maintenance plan. Don't waste your time with this company if this is how they "bait and switch" on you with promises they never fulfill. Or maybe because I'm a single woman they decided they could do this to me.

I have never had a bad experience with JW heating and air. They come when they say they are going to, do what they say they will do, and don't overcharge or push us into other repairs. A great company!

Unfortunately, the filter turned out to be the wrong size and I had to exchange it. Service was good, and would have been better if technician had supplied correct filter.

Technician Mark was a pro and had the job done in less than an hour. I appeciated the fact that they were willing to repair a very old furnace rather than HARD sell a new one. I will definitely call them when it's time to install a new unit. I felt their price was fair even though I found the motor cheaper online, I felt their warranty, professionalism and fast service justified the extra expense. On top of it all, they honored the Angie's List Coupon and gave me an additional $25 off the installation.

Service was great. Diagnosed the problem quickly and applied the fix. Service tech was efficient, knowledgeable about my unit and professional in the repair. I gave them a B on the price, only because prices are never an A on anything. But he did a great job.

The technician did not show up within the assigned 4-hour window the first time, he got too busy on other jobs. The office manager apologized profusely and rescheduled us for a specific time on another day... no time frame "window.". The tech showed up that second day right on time. He crawled into our two attics, inspected our furnaces, filters and other elements of our heating systems. He gave us a clean bill of health, we are now ready for winter. At $49 per heating unit, I think we got a good dea;.

The serviceman was very thorough and explained each step of the job as he was doing it. In fact, I was so impressed that I purchased a contract for annual service of bioth my AC and heater (so I suppose he was a good saleman as well!!)

When we decided to install central A/C to our house this past summer, we extensively researched what we needed and how to select a contractor. We interviewed and obtained bids from 5 other A/C contractors, many of whom ranked as Angie's List's top A/C contractors, before selecting JW. While JW?s price was not the lowest quote we received, we chose JW because its employee, John Mattson, answered all of our questions, provided us with a detailed bid, including a Manual J load calculation that the other companies refused to provide, and because of their Angie's List reviews. The installation was completed in mid-July and it went very smoothly. The installers were timely and tidy. However, post-installation, we had a few hiccups that lasted about several weeks. Initially, the return in the hallway was loudly reverberating. John came by and fixed that problem. Then, our thermostat went out and we could not control our unit, and the A/C would not work. The fan kept running but the condensor would not turn on. We had to turn the circuit off at our electrical box to stop the fan. John came back several times, trying to diagnose the problem, including installing two different thermostats. By then the dog days of summer had rolled around, JW was very busy and we were waiting for a technician. In mid-August, I sent an email through Angie?s List to JW?s owner, explaining our frustrating situation. Jeff Williams, the owner, called me the next day. He apologized, offered us a year?s worth of maintenance, and said he would send out a technician as soon as possible. The technician came over, fixed the problem and everything?s been fine since. Overall, even with the bumps in the road, we had a very good experience with JW. They were professional and responsive and we felt that they truly cared about their work and their reputation.

I found out about JW Heating & Air through Angie's list. Our central heater had stopped working. I called and their first available appointment was in 3 days. The serviceman, Roddy, arrived on time and was very friendly. He got up on the roof and made the diagnosis of a broken gas valve in about 15 minutes. At this point he gave me an estimate of about $450 to repair. The key was to obtain the part. I know that many other companies would probably have come back on another day to make the repair. However, out of respect for my schedule, Roddy immediately drove out to get the part and returned to finish the work. He was very determined and worked efficiently - completing the job in about 20 minutes after he returned. I was a little worried about making him late for his next appointment, but at the same time I was very grateful since it is so hard for me to be away from work during the day. After application of the Angie's List member discount, the total price came to $415. This morning it was good to wake up to a nice warm house, and to have my wife and kids be comfortable.

The professionals at J. W. Heating and Air performed all services as described in the intial bid for the project. The workman were polite, courteous, conscientious and clean. From the minute they arrived, their top concern was customer satisfaction and performing at a professional level. At arrival the Jeff Williams and the foremen Sean went with me to the attic to discuss the best and appropriate layout for the heating furnace and the layout of the ducting system and for the best route for the gas and drain lines. From there they asked for my input on the staging area for their supplies and equipment.( Even though I requested they stage their supplies in the back yard of my house, but only use the front entrance they not only agreed, but throughout the entire installation the entire crew complied with the arrangement. ) Thereafter we discussed the best location for the air compressor unit. The final choice required them to do some menial gardening and pruning of shrubs and trees. They performed these gardening services without leaving me a mess and damaging my plants and lawn. Finally, in preparation for the install, we discussed the placement of the ceiling grills and return grill. They help me determine in both a technical and ascetic manner the best possible placement for each grille. Once ready to begin the crew laid down cloths to cover and protect my floors. For the next three working days the crew showed up each morning at 7:00 am and finished around 4:00 pm. At the end of each day they swept up any dust ordebris and picked up the floor cloth runners. The crew worked diligently and continuous for approximately three days, to install the furnace and the air conditioning unit. Even when outside contractor were required, i.e., electricians, etc., they arrived timely and never caused any delay. Once finished, a city inspector was called, the inspector arrived the following day spent mere minutes checking the work and signed the permit. The next day Jeff came by and walked through the job with me. I pointed out some minor plastering defects to be fixed. Jeff informed me that Sean would be by later that day to turn on the furnace and complete the minor repairs. Jeff and I then signed the final paperwork, I submitted the final payment. Later that day, Sean came by and finished the work. He took the time to show me emergency procedures, i.e., gas and electrical cut-offs for the unit. And he then explained the use and programming of the thermostat and how to set the attic cooling fan. My review of their work and is somewhat dull and predictive...because the installation was drama less and went exactly as planned. When I phone to make an appointment on monday, I was told that no one would be available until friday afternoon i.e. I had to wait for 4 days. The afternoon of the same monday, I received a phone call informing me that someone would be available the next day due to a cancellation. I received another call on tuesday morning informing me that someone would be availabe that morning. We made an appointment for the same morning (tuesday) and the repairman arrived promptly. He removed the old thermostat for the wall unit heater and replaced it with a new one. He then lit the pilot light and tested the thermostat. However, we almost did not make it because he did not have a lighter in his truck to light the pilot light with. I managed to find a book of matches for his use. .

These guys were great. John looked after us from start to finish with lots of communication and focus on the project. The team was friendly and punctual and their attention to quality was superb. Sean and Eli were great to work with and really made sure everything was done in the best way possible while explaining the options to me and keeping me well informed the whole time. The end result is fantastic and we are very happy with the overall experience.

This is the 3rd time we have use JW, and it's always been great. Very professional, they stay in contact with you, and the service is terrific. This time around, just by chance we had a plumbing issue that happened right after the visit, and we thought it might be related. Their service guy came back to assist in the troubleshooting. It turned out to be an independent problem, and I had a plumber come to address afterward, but the JW guy was kind enough to turn around on his way back, and check the problem out for us. I will use them again in the future.

Our AC unit went out during a heat wave. We called JW based on Angie's List recommendation. Took a couple of days to get an appointment, but they showed up on time. Needed a few days to work out our repair options (replace? Fix?) and then a couple more days for them to order parts. That was fine. A few glitches getting the repair work done -- at one point, repair guy installed circuit board incorrectly and it immediately burned out. That meant he had to order a new one and return a few days later. Eventually, he made repairs, we paid, AC worked. Several weeks later, while AC was running during another heat wave, compressor unit started squealing and stopped cooling. Had to call JW again. This time, one of the supervisors showed up personally (the next morning), checked out the unit. He found that a capacitor had been installed incorrectly (unclear to me that it was one they installed or that had been previously installed; I'll give them the benefit of the doubt), causing unit to break down. He fixed it, tightened everything else up (presumable also including the fan assembly the previous guy had reinstalled). Everything now works fine, and they didn't charge us for the last visit and repairs. I'll give them good marks for eventually fixing everything they'd been hired to fix, though it took several visits and a long time, and for being responsive when there was a problem and not charging us extra for the final issue. We'll see how long the AC continues to work (again, to be fair, they advised replacing the whole system, an option we rejected in favor of interim repairs because of cost).

It went well. They were knowledgeable, inspected it properly, were very polite, pleasant , and honest. It was a great experience.

I found JW Heating and Air on Angie's List, and based on the numerous excellent reviews contacted them to give an estimate on installing a new roof-top air conditioning and heating unit for the upper unit of our 1932 spanish style duplex. i solicited estimates from 3 different contractors, and the decision to hire JW to do the job was an easy one. George Magnani was the sales rep who came out to assess what we needed and give us an estimate. He looked at everything, thoroughly explained what he would recommend and why, and gave us a detailed written estimate of what would best suit our needs on the spot. I had done extensive research on the internet, and his recommendation comported with everything i had read. The estimate was the best of the estimates we got, but that was not the determining factor in our hiring them - George instilled confidence, was very professional, welcomed us to contact him with any further questions, and left us with a well prepared folder about JW and the impressive qualifications of its employees. shawn and his crew showed up exactly when they said they would, and worked steadily - causing no inconvenience to us - for 2 two full days. they cut 11 duct register holes in lath and plaster ceilings very cleanly, had to crawl around in a narrow crawl space to bring ducting to 9 rooms over 1450 square feet and did a great job. i could not see how it would be possible for a crane to hoist the unit to the roof without damaging the trees in the front of the house, but the crane operator they use was absolutely amazing, and not a twig on any tree or a ceramic tile on the roof was damaged at all. i was also very impressed at the fact that the whole crew definitely observed safety procedures to avoid any injury. all of the guys were pleasant to have around, and cooperated really well with the other workers we had on site. when they were through, we had a great AC that keeps the entire unit cool, and is very quiet both on the inside and outdoors. the entire job passed the building and safety inspection with flying colors. we were also really impressed by how well they cleaned up the work site before they left. we definitely recommend JW - and Shawn and his crew - very highly!

Incredibly smoothly from start to finish. I can't say enough about the crew, they were perfect in every detail. A shockingly good experience.

Joe and Ramon were very friendly, professional and worked hard. Our new system was installed in a few days. It has worked so beautifully, especially in this hot and humid summer we've been having. It is also so much quieter than our original system. We are very pleased with the work and the results.
