Took the cover off the outside unit checked wires and connection. cleaned and checked coolant. Everything was fine, workers were on time, clean and professional.

The inspection/experience went very well. Carlos performed the inspection, he was prompt and very courteous. He answered my questions thoroghly and was knowledgable. I would recommend this company/service.

The tech was very nice, careful, clean and when inside wore "booties." The system was working, quite 15 minutes after he left. I called the company and they were able to have the tech come back about 2/3 hours later. He spent another hour plus tracing electrical wiring until finding a short and resolving the problem. As of now the system is still running.

I selected JW because they had good reviews on Angie's list, and seemed to know what they what they were doing when they came out. They installed the system, and shortly thereafter a nasty smell like old moldy socks starting coming out of the vents. I called them, and the came out and cleaned the system. The smell soon came back. I called again, they repeated the process, and fixed some other holes in the system that I discovered while search for a cause of the order. By this time I had lost any faith I had in these guys (although Jeff was always very nice and helpful). It seemed to me that the cause of the problem was that the way the unit was hung caused water to collect in the bottom, instead of the drain, but when I presented that idea they told me that wasn't the problem. The told me that this is a problem that sometimes happens. They offered to install a UV disinfecting system (at my cost for parts, free labor) that they said would fix the problem. I passed on the offer. Finally a few years later I had a couple of guys come out to top off the coolant, and mentioned the smell problem. They immediately put a level on the unit, and rehung it so that it drained properly. The problem went away (mostly - as the mold that causes the smell is now throughout the system, any moisture sets it off again!). 10 years later I was having remodeling done, and when the gas company came out to relight the pilot, they noticed that when the heater/cooling fan was blowing, my water heater vent was no longer venting. I called JW Heat and Air, and they came out, looked into how the two were joined together with the vent chimney, and saw that it was really badly put together (not JW fault - they had just connected their new system to the old heater vent). They scheduled an time, and came out and fixed the connection with a 'T' vent connector, and extended the chimney on the roof for better draft. They didn't charge me, and were very nice (as they always are) about it.

JW did an absolutely awesome job, & I'm delinquent in not having posted this review a lot sooner. I had a condenser that had gone out repeatedly last summer, & another HVAC company had installed a booster for hundreds of dollars. It worked for about half an hour before the unit died again, & they refused to give me a refund. Costco had a major A/C promotion this summer, & when I called their special order desk, they put me in touch with the same people who had installed the booster. I insisted on getting a credit for the work; even with it, & with the value of a Costco reward card figured in, their bid was several hundred dollars higher than JW's. What's more, JW inspired confidence from the moment their salesperson, Ted Ceausu, showed up. (Not from the first phone call, though; their scheduling process was annoying, but I stuck with it because of their Angies List rating.) Ted clearly has spent a lot of time installing systems himself, & immediately pointed out a few things that the 2 other bidders I'd had didn't. We crawled around the attic, as I had with the other guys, & he was the first to point out that several pieces of equipment were separated by too much space, & the system was much less efficient as a result. He also offered to replace several ducts at no additional cost. We scheduled promptly, and a crew headed by Shawn showed up early in the morning and put in a very long day -- my recollection is about 10 hours. Shawn is the Central Casting version of an A/C installer: cheerful, pleasant, clearly competent, not at all pushy, clearly has great rapport with his crew. I was considering moving the condenser location, & Shawn obligingly hauled a several-hundred-pound piece of equipment to different locations & back. Meanwhile, I work at home, and *not once* during the day did I hear radios -- loud or otherwise -- from the attic entrance in the next room. It wasn't until I went up late in the day to check on them that I even realized they had a radio up there. Astounding, as anyone who's had repair work of any kind knows All this, and on top of it, Ted showed up a week later to check on the work -- & brought a decent bottle of wine as a gift. I wish these guys also did concrete, fences, painting, you name it -- it couldn't have been a better experience. By coincidenc,e the timing was also superb -- right before the extended heat wave that's been in effect ever since.

Fantastic! Reasonably priced, arrived on time, clean and pleasant. Mark was extremely thorough and kept me updated as to the things he was finding and repair costs with various options. Excellent service

They were so nice and prompt and fast. Cleaned everything up beautifully. Jose went above and beyond to help me understand it all and made terrific suggestions as well.

I am considering upgrading my heating and air conditioning system to a dual system or some kind of zoning. My current system works fine but is rather old and not as efficient as it could be - hot upstairs, cold downstairs. A problem not uncommon in the Valley. At his stage, I really just wanted to talk to someone regarding the options and the estimated costs so I could make a decision in the fall. JW couldn't give me that basic information over the phone so they came to my house. The sales person seemed professional and knowledgeable. He looked at my existing system and we discussed a whole new system vs. a second system for the upstairs. I requested a top level estimate for both - nothing fancy just basic tasks and costs so I could make a decision. Two weeks went by and I had not heard from JW. I figured the heat wave was keeping them busy so I called to see if they planned to respond. They indicated they were busy but would send me a proposal that week. I haven't heard from them yet and it is going on 2 months since they came to my house. All in all, they wasted my time and theirs. I would have preferred they just tell me over the phone or at the appointment that they were not interested in the business. Fairly disappointed in their professionalism/customer focus. Too bad, as others have had a positive experience and I think they could have done a good job.

I spoke to JW on the phone before scheduling because my wife and I both work, so I wanted to be sure we could find an appointment time that fit our schedules. Since JW does not do weekend appointments, they agreed to an appointment time of 7am on a weekday which was helpful so that I wouldn't have to take very much time off of work that morning. On the day of appointment no one showed up at 7am. At 7:35 with still no call or technician at my house I called JW to check on the status of our appointment. It was before their normal business hours so the after hours phone service said I would get a call back. I did get a call back shortly from Cindy (who was very nice) who said that she had called my technician, Carlos, but that she couldn't reach him. She assured me that he was aware of the appointment scheduled for 7am that day. At 7:46am Carlos left a voicemail at my work phone number (which I only realized because I get email alerts on my cell phone when someone leaves me a voicemail at work). I called Carlos back and reached him at about 7:55am. He started out by saying, "I'm running a little late." My response was, "I'd say you're more than a little late since it's already an hour past my appointment time." He then proceeded to make excuses and say that traffic was bad and that was the reason he was running so late. I pointed out that I specifically needed the 7am appointment because my wife and I both had to go to work. He response was, "I don't know what to tell you, I can't predict traffic." I was a bit aggravated by this point partly because I really wanted the AC service performed that morning but mostly by his unapologetic attitude (he never apologized) and his excuse making. I told him that I believed he clearly had not planned properly or left on time to arrive at my house by 7am, and that I'd rather he just apologized then continue to blame traffic instead of himself. He said he would not apologize and asked if I'd like to wait for him and keep the appointment (he still wasn't close to arriving at my house) or cancel. I said I needed to cancel as it was now way later than I planned for my work. I'm a reasonable person and I've lived in LA a long time. I know that traffic can be very bad, but I also know that there is ALWAYS traffic in LA and you need to plan accordingly when you have an appointment. I'm willing to give someone the benefit of bad traffic as an excuse for being late within a reasonable amount of time. That's why I waited more than 30 minutes to make the first call. If I had continued to wait for him I don't know when he would have eventually arrived, but he wasn't saying he was close, so I'm guessing an 8:30am arrival would have been the earliest. No amount of traffic would cause you to be an hour and a half late (I checked the traffic that morning and there were no major freeway shut downs or huge delays). I've driven from LA to San Diego in Friday night traffic and it takes about two hours. Assuming he left on time for a 7am appointment, he would have needed to leave by at least 6:15 or 6:30, meaning he was claiming to be on the way to my house for two hours or more - no way. This guy clearly either forgot about the appointment, or just slept in and didn't get started on time. It happens, no big deal, just don't insult my intelligence by blaming traffic instead of yourself. I'm getting a refund from Angies and will find another provider for the service.

Came right away. Shook down the entire HVAC system. Freon level was low so he added freon. Got everything working great.

I purchased an A/C tune-up three weeks earlier, Fernando showed up slightly before the scheduled time. He explained to me what he was going to do for the services I purchased. Before coming into my house he put on his shoe covers so not to bringing dirt inside, I appreciate that. He spent time to check the temperature controller, the heating unit and the drain pans in the attic, clean and test the condenser outside the house. Fernando cleaned up afterward and answered my request to provide an estimate later on for possibly replacing the condenser unit sometime down the road. The unit is working fine but is noisy and not very energy efficient. Fernando was courteous and well mannered throughout.

After several years of consideration, we finally decided to install central air in our home in Culver City, and proceeded to contact three different companies for bids, including JW Heating. We waited to post this review until we were able to take full use of the unit and make sure this review was current and thorough. Ted from JW Heating & Air arrived at the initial meeting promptly and, to our surprise, took about 1 ½ hours to explain the entire process, the available equipment, the pros and cons of doing certain things, and financing. We didn?t realize there was so much entailed, since we already a furnace and the ducting in place. After receiving the three presentations and bids, we narrowed it down to two, and ultimately chose JW because the company seemed more ?hands on? and professional, and had excellent Yelp and Angie?s List reviews. It wasn?t the lowest bid, but it seemed the best considering what we were getting. We were replacing a 30 year old furnace, redoing all the duct work, all new registers, installing an air conditioning unit, installing an attic fan, wireless thermostat, etc. When installation day arrived, three workers promptly arrived and started the project. The installation took three and a half days, and JW took great measures to make protect the home and garage to make sure there wasn?t any mess. If there was debris, dust, etc., they cleaned everything up upon completion, each day. In particular, the team leader, Cesar (along with Ted), worked with us to discuss different strategies regarding placement of the unit, running pipes and electrical wires, etc., which were essential issues, as the aesthetics as to what shows on our house is extremely important to us. After the installation was completed and walking around the neighborhood, we noticed many instances where decisions were made that affected the outside of the house and were unsightly, so we really appreciated the input and decision making with respect to our specific installation and placement. There were a few inspections done after installation, and not only did they all pass, but many times the inspector(s) indicated that it was a nice, clean and totally professional job. Over the last two months, as you might imagine, we have used the system regularly, and it works perfectly. A day doesn?t go by (when it is 80% humidity outside) that we don?t appreciate having central air now, along with a quality installation and service.

Not great. See above. Then today i got a bill for the work i had already paid for with a check. Seems like the rep didnt turn in the check.

Extremely satisfied. The technician who came out was friendly, honest, and knowledgeable. He checked out our system in a thorough way, helped us diagnose some minor issues but ultimately advised that no repairs were necessary. One week and one major LA heat wave later, and he's been proven absolutely right. He was also to give us advice on the age of our system and some cheap DIY ways we can increase its efficiency and extend its life. Time will tell, but it seems his suggestions were right on the money. Should we ever encounter problems with our HVAC, we will call JW again in a heartbeat.

We used them before for an estimate on A/C changes we had in mind. The Sales Rep that came out was so friendly and honest. It was quite refreshing. He gave us very good information about our upgrade and we will use them when we are ready for that in few months. There was no charge. We called them out again a few months later to get the compressor checked out. Good thing because it needed to be cleaned out to be more efficient. This Rep was just as friendly and informative. I highly recommend this company.

My experience with them was very good from beginning to end. During the height of the recent heat, my compressor stopped working. I called JW and they answered the phone immediately. The operator I spoke to was very pleasant and confirmed the call the day before the appointment. The technician arrived within the allotted four hour window. I believe his name was Mike and he was thoroughly professional. He brought his own booties to walk through the house and went to work immediately. He walked me through what was wrong and told me the cost. He then replaced the capacitor and cleaned one of the connection wires. He was at my place for almost 45 minutes and the problem was solved. I waited a week to post a review in case anything went awry, but the unit is working perfectly! I would highly recommend!

I'm always hesitant of purchasing "deal coupons" because I always feel you 1. get what you pay for, and 2. it's just a provider's way of upselling you on a more costly service. And my experience with JW Air & Heating was no exception. We were able to make an appointment a week ahead of time but they would only accept a four hour window. The attempt on their part to make that a reasonable request was that the driver would call a half-hour ahead of time. I don't know about you, but we work and can't just run out of the office in a dash or take four-hours to wait at home if it's not an emergency. We took it though because we purchased the coupon. The technician arrived about 3-hours into the 4-hour window but had trouble being able to ring our unit so we had to go down at get him (no big deal really but never had that issue before). He wasn't the friendly type but got to work...for 10 minutes. I guess all 20-points can be covered in 10 minutes but not sure how if the AC is never turned off...I don't know, I'm not a technician. Anyway, I helped him hose off the filters, which is fine and he did recommend that we get new ones. No problem. But at the end of it all we were told that we need a whole new AC unit. So, we left it with the technician that he would email us the size of filters to get and provide us an estimate with how much it would cost to replace our unit. We are still waiting on that information. A recommendation to JW Air. If you do a 20-point inspection, have a checklist that the technician checks off and then goes through with the customer point-by-point. Just like when you get your car serviced. It makes the customer feel like they got what they paid for...in a good way! I marked a D for price and quality only because we're not sure what we got for it and, more importantly, we had to call an emergency AC company (a competitor) to fix a leak coming from a clogged pipe in our AC the very next weekend.

Mark arrived right on time. He was extremely polite and very helpful in explaining our problems. He had the parts to repair the unit with him and we were enjoying cool air within minutes. There cost to repair was extremely reasonable compared to our previous service company. They have a new and happy customer. Thank you Mark!

We were told yesterday we needed a complete new system by our long term provider. Seeking another opinion, we contacted JW. Carlos arrived on time and prepared with parts needed to repair our system, thus avoiding replacement. Good service, good attitude, our new go-to provider! thanks.

THEY DONE A GOOD JOB, THE SERVICE TECH. WAS CARLOS HE WAS EXCELLENT AND KNEW WHAT HE WAS DOING.HE WAS ABLE TO SPOT THE PROBLEM AND FIX IT AND DID A GREAT JOB WITH THE 20 POINT SERVICE CALL HE CHECKED IT ALL, IN THE ATTIC & OUTSIDE CLEANED THE EXTERIOR UNIT,CHECKED ALL THE WIRES,THE VENTS & DUCTS, HE EVEN INSTALLED A NEW FILTER THAT I PROVIDED FOR HIM. HE PUT COVERS ON HIS SHOES SO NOT TO GET DIRT INSIDE THE HOUSE AND NOW MY OLD A/C UNIT IS RUNNING LIKE BRAND NEW. HE WAS ON TIME GETTING HERE AND LEAVING, GREAT JOB FROM A GREAT GUY WHO KNOWS HOW TO GET IT DONE. THANKS CARLOS & JW HEATING AND COOLING.

Our A/C needed a tune up called these guys up knowing these guys were good from all the reviews I see on Angie's List. Sure enough they did as good as their reviews say great job at a good price thank you.

We previously had someone else that we found on Angie's List out when the A/C stopped working and they told us that the entire unit had to be replaced. We waited a few months and finally called JW for a second opinion and pricing for the replacement. Mark took a look at our a/c unit, replaced a fuse, and was gone in about 30min. Our a/c works just fine now. He didn't even charge us for the fuse, just for the call. We had been suffering through the summer heat rather than replace it. Mark and JW saved us from being ripped off for thousands of dollars. It was a great experience.

The technician arrived and put foot covers on. I loved that! So many repair people walk in with their dirty feet. The technician was very polite, respectful and considerate as he did his job.

The appointment was easy to make and relatively quick, the provider came within the time frame, was friendly and very professional. He provided me with additional information necessary for the upkeep of my heating/ air conditioning systems. I would recommend this company and I will use them in the future.
