I believe I've told the story from the start to the "almost" finished already.
Description of Work: Although we're not finished with he project, I was asked to rate Janet Grey thus far. When I hired Janet as an Interior Decorator, I asked for many things and I expected a big budget and some real time to make it right. So let me start from the first meeting. Janet is very punctual, always well dressed, very friendly, very professional but fun, ready to hear ideas, prepared with a contract after a full meeting about needs and desires and very creative. In other words, just who I wanted. Thank goodness she was on Angie's List. So now we tackle things one at a time. Let me say that I am decorating a 103 year old Craftsman without modifying it in any way. In other words, nothing that can't be reversed. So there is a challenge. I wanted it to look like I had lived there a long time and that it was just like home would feel even though I had been here only a couple of months. Oh, I should add here that Janet will shop, consult and generally give me ideas constantly, but will not get anything we haven't agreed completely on. If I'm in any way put off by something, she will continue to search until we are both satisfied. Having said that and for obvious reasons, she does not want you to go off and start purchasing things on your own for equally obvious reasons. Tying the place together is her specialty, of course, and with a Craftsman home, that's not always easy. I also have two very special rooms that require very specific looks, so she is keeping those in mind as well. Since Janet is such an organized and creative person, she has a cadre of professionals who know how the "show and tell" and "installation" parts of the project. For instance, window treatments. She brought out one of her best people to go through the rooms and choose different blinds and window treatments. A week later, they were installed and incredible. I had no idea about what some blinds can do regarding heat and privacy, but those alone were an example of her knowledge and expertise. As far as Janet shopping, I was mostly looking for antiques. Usually I get three or four examples (photos) at one time and they each have a detailed description with positive and negative attributes. Let me insert here that she is always keeping me updated with her progress and the cost of the entire project. She is very up front about fees and costs so there is zero confusion about what you are spending. I knew I was spending this much, even though it may seem exorbitant to many. We are still closing in on the finished project, but so far I'm thrilled with the way things are pulling together. She knows patterns, contrasts, room to room accents, rugs, window treatments (I had a special request for the exact amount of light coming through a large window with an equal request for privacy from outside and she had it at her fingertips), and accent pieces like a chandelier. (Yes, she has an expert electrician who can safely install a chandelier.) Janet is a pro, simply put. If you want a pro, Janet Grey is your Designer. If you want a curtain hung, she may do that, but it's not what she does. She designs and works with you and sometimes takes you to ideas you never imagined. Personally, I have lots of doubt about my particular taste. It tends to be haphazard. Now the house is starting to make "sense", it looks like it was built around the interior rather than the other way.
