While he is very polite and professional, we got the distinct feeling that our job was a low-priority despite his denying this. On a positive note, the end result is quite beautiful, but we suffered through over 3 months of construction when he had originally stated it would be no longer than about 4 weeks. Some of this delay couldn't be helped due to other sub-contractors and their timing, yet all of this could have been prevented had he talked to them about their timelines right from the beginning. There were many weeks where a workman came once or twice and even then, not for full days of work. Most of all, Mr. Gatenyo was not a strong communicator even when we specifically asked him to contact us to let us know whether he was coming the next day or not (either through texts, emails, etc...). We found that he would not remember what he had told us previously and then we realized that sometimes he didn't write things down. Sometimes we had sub-contractors asking us questions that Mr. Gatenyo needed to answer. We gave him specific measurements for our equipment and then he would ask for this information again. This happened more than once. There were times when we thought he was not telling us the truth about a few incidents, but it became his word against ours, so we will leave this aside. The bottom line is, he seems to be a nice man, but he did not communicate well with us for this job and we will not use him again on any other construction in our home. It was a very difficult remodel and we have had many. This was the hardest, most unanticipated longest remodel ever when it did not have to be at all.

We were referred to Mr. Gatenyo by our realtor. Mr. Gatenyo was a really nice guy. He was flexible, easy to work with and very reliable. The fence built by him looks very modern.
