They were basically handled by George Haney and Sons who were performing the HVAC installation. Their representative was super efficient, friendly, and knowledgeable. The load calc came out NOT needing to increase our electrical supply (thank god!), the permits were granted, and all went smoothly. Just like it should.
Description of Work: We were installing a totally new HVAC system and reroof. The new HVAC needed power brought to a powerless attic, and our electrical box was totally full. We needed a load calc, permits run, and the actual power lines run.

I think it was a little over-priced. I called them last week because they were supposed to install new fans and one of them sounds like an airplane. I am going to have to get them to come back. I don’t know why a new fan would sound like that. That was a lot of money just to put in two fans. William, the owner, came by and I showed him what I needed. He sent another man who put them in. One of the fans is okay but the other one is very loud. I’m not complaining right now but I’m going to call them. He cleaned up his mess although it’s still kind of dirty where the fan goes; I thought he was going to clean it up better. He did vacuum up the floor. He only spent an hour and a half here and $368 is kind of pricey. I don’t know what electricians charge these days. They should have done better.
Description of Work: I used Garafano Electric. I have two bathrooms and I needed the fans replaced.

I had Garafano come about a year ago to install a new circuit and plugs. I was amazed at the price- it was about a third of what I expected. The circuit they installed started tripping recently so I called them to come back out. After their technician checked the circuit it turns out it had nothing to do with the electrical system. I have an air conditioner on this circuit which, due to having a dirty filter, was overloading the circuit The technician, John, who used to work with air conditioning systems, went above and beyond the duties of an electrician. He cleaned the filter and also the coils on the air conditioner. It now works and the circuit doesn't trip. Also, I don't have to buy a new air conditioner. Also, the appointment was for 10 AM. John called about an hour and a half before that and asked if he could come at 9:45 which he did.

William came out promptly to give me an estimate, he was very nice and very knowledgeable. I had him estimate a bunch of things so I can pick and choose what I want to do, and he was very accommodating. I think his pricing is fair, but I felt so confident that he's the right guy for the job that I never bothered with getting another quote. Initially, I was going to install a fan and a new vanity light in the bathroom as well, but I had problems finding a vanity light that I like so it took me a few months before I got back to him. There was a little bit of miscommunication, he forgot that I told him I was not going to do the bathroom fan, the vanity light, and the extra outlet in the patio area this time; so that was on his list when he came out. He had actually sent someone out to pick up the fan, but when I told him that we weren't doing the fan, he just rolled with it, no drama, no whining. A crew of two showed up for the job, they were prompt. William showed up immediately after them. We went over the job, I was still unsure how I wanted the string lights to hang. William and I discussed the various options. He was very patient and he came up with a wonderful configuration for the string lights. He spent a lot of time with me and his crew, probably close to an hour. He went over every detail of the job and what needs to be done with his guys. He even remind them to clean up and put everything back exactly as it was. I have worked with a number of good contractors through Angie's List, but William is exceptional. You get the feeling that it's more than just getting the job done. He really cares about how well it is done, and that puts him on a whole level above the rest. The crew, John and Rene did a wonderful job. Everything looked great, very neat and professional. They swept up and cleaned up everything. The hours estimated were right on. I gave Wiliam a check before he left, and I got a call from his office later on to say that William had made an mathematical error and that my bill should have been $10 less. I would think most people would just keep the extra $10 and I would never have been the wiser. I love everything they did and especially the way the string lights look in the patio. Garafano Electric is great, and I will definitely work with them again. I would recommend them to anyone, even my very finicky brother.
Description of Work: Garafano Electric installed a dimmer for my dinning room light, a chandelier in the bedroom, an exterior light and string lights in my patio. They also closed up an exposed junction box, a fire hazard, left by some previous contractor when I bought the house.

We needed electrical upgrades in order to relandscape our backyard with a waterfall and pond. William Martinez from Garafano Electric was wonderful. He submitted a reasonable priced bid, had a great crew working for him, cleaned up after themselves each day, and was on time and very organized. The apx cost of the work completed was $3,189.00. It took 6 days to finish due to the massive root system that needed to be dug out. We have several trees nearby. We would definitely hire William again, without hesitation. Thank You,Shirley and Steve Rundell
Description of Work: Start date: June 28, 2012 Needed: electrical updates from house to garage and inside garage, too. As well as some landscaping lighting. House built: 1948 * Ran power to feed underground from meter panel to garage. * Provided trench work with back fill and compaction. * New sub panel located on rear exterior garage. * Installed grounding electrode system. * Ran metallic conduit into rear ext of garage. * Provided workbench outlets and motion light in garage areas. * Provided electrical repairs to existing power located in tree plantar. I have tried to list the highlights of the work performed, but Garafano Electric did a much more detailed job to be fair.

Went really well. The initial quote/estimate process was very simple and fair. The work was done very promptly. When William came back out for the walk-thru we realized his guys had forgotten to switch over the breaker switches on the panel to be the appropriate size. He immediately apologized and came out the next day to fix that. Had a great experience working with them!
Description of Work: As William put it, the wiring in my attic looked "like something from India". Apparently the person that wired my house originally (I just bought it in Dec.) made it look like a Spaghetti nest in the attic. Some sort of DIY job gone horribly wrong. I noticed something bad when the breaker in the living room kept tripping. I had tenants moving in a week later so I needed to get it checked out. When William came over he crawled up in the attic, got shocked, and came down saying it was a huge safety hazard to let anyone move in with the wiring so bad. So he suggested we rewire the front half of the house. I immediately thought $$$$$$$$. Actually....not too bad....and they threw in a doorbell! They were very professional and on time. Since this is a rental unit that I don't live in he even came out a week later to do a walk through with me and talk to me about my next renovation (a garage conversion). Really nice people, really honest and fair. I'm young, and new to home ownership, so it's nice to work with people who aren't trying to take advantage of me!

I called Garafano this morning because a couple of electric panel issues arose during the escrow on our new house. Since we were working on a deadline (close of escrow) I asked them for an appointment as soon as possible. William Martinez met me at the house 2 hours later, actually a few minutes ahead of our appointment. We had a brief discussion about the electric panels (need to upgrade, correcting substandard wiring, impact on future renovations, etc.) and he was friendly, informative and cooperative. He inspected each of the 3 subpanels, made reasonable, and economical recommendations, and by the time I got to my office later today I had an email waiting for me from him, spelling out the work to be done and the cost, both of which I thought were quite reasonable. Not only would I contact / hire them again, I intend to. (To put this review into perspective, I have an undergraduate degree in architecture, have worked professionally in the real estate development industry for over 40 years and have extensive remodeling / renovating experience, both doing the work myself and supervising the work of others.)

The estimate process with William Martinez was thorough, quick and smooth and he tried to find the best economical solutions. On the work day, Renee and his assistant arrived promptly at 8am and worked until 6pm nonstop. Renee had a great attitude, worked hard, and cleaned up afterwards. William checked in on progress a couple of times, solved some wiring problems, and went back out and got a different bathroom fan when I saw it was the wrong shape. Afterwards, I noticed a couple of things that weren't quite right and Renee came back out 6 weeks later and fixed those items at no charge. We would definitely hire them again.

William came out to do a quote and was on time and very professional. He was full of great information and insight into possible upgrades and fixes. I was very excited to have the work done. When he left he said he would have an estimate drawn up and then we could proceed. From there I was rather unsatisfied with the communication and correspondence. I was under the impression that the work could be done quickly as it was a small job, but when I spoke with the scheduler...she estimated that it was going to take two weeks! Also, there was a little back and forth on the quote because I originally had wanted the outlets installed, but then changed my mind because I felt like it could be done at a later date. The adjusted quote took a couple days to get back to me. I would actually give Garfano another try, but I ultimately went with a company that could do the work faster and for the same amount of money.

Overall everything was going fairly well but there were a couple things that soured my experience. Firstly, the bid was broken down by services and hours. So when I was told it would take 2 full days to perform the work, I saw that reflected in the bid. But the assigned electrician that carried out the service was at my residence for about 5-6 hours a day. To me, that said that the bid was overinflated with hours that were not worked. Secondly, I had asked that the placement of the junction box for the spa was placed in a less obvious way as to not draw attention to it. When I realized it was in fact in the most seen area, I asked to please move to the original position we spoke about. I was told they would have to come back to do that and that someone would be calling to reschedule. Its been 6 weeks, the check is cashed and no one has ever called to apologize or reschedule for the work that was promised due to their error.
Description of Work: My house was a mess of electrical wiring in the attic and under the house. They cleaned them up and strapped the wires per code. They also made sure all electrical outlets were functioning and again up to code. The last service that was perfomed was adding a 220V box to power an outdoor spa.

The owner came over and checked out what needed to be done. He quoted me a price which startled me (in a good way). It was much less than I expected. He sent an installer a few days later and also came here himself to check out how it was going. They did exactly what they said they would and the price was also exactly what they said it would be. The also were very good in communicating to me what they were doing. The office called to schedule the installation and the installer called me and updated me on his schedule.

We had a socket added to a laundry room then the inspector saw we had not got the smoke detectors to code. They are supposed to be hard wired and all connected together. So we asked William to do the work for us. This was not an expense I had expected but we needed it done to complete the inspection. They did a very clean job. I was even able to put the sheet rock pieces back which they had cut out of the walls, making the repairs very easy. I was very impressed with the work and their attitude.

It was great and I would recommend them and use them again. William is very attentive and Roger and Brian do fabulous work. Also, we have had numerous people comment on how nice the canister lighting is, so thank you Roger and Brian!
Description of Work: I called and William, the owner, came out to give me a bid on the following items: Canister lights in living room (plaster ceiling and flat room with a pitch roof on top) Canister lights in the dining room (drywall) Electrical switch for ceiling fan in bedroom Move light in closet to center Move light in living area and center it over the bar divider Exterior lighting -- find out what switch they're hooked up to Install light in attic I wasn't sure how many canister lights I would need, or what would look good in our living and dining area. William went over the different types, styles and sizes and told me what he thought would look best. He spent a lot of time with me and sent me a bid the next day. I scheduled him for the following week. William and his crew came out to the house. William went over everything with his crew and then left. Roger and Brian were here for two days working (my ceiling, attic and walls were very challenging). They not only did great work, they were professional, neat and very friendly. They did an awesome job and were a pleasure to deal with.

I found Garafano Electric on Angie's List and I could not have been happier with the work done on my home. A friend of mine first referred 'a guy' to me who could do the same work but after much consideration I felt that it would be best to have a licensed electrician who could make sure the work would be done safely and to code. William and his team were professional, experienced and completed all of the work flawlessly -even with the tough task of running power through a concrete wall to a new outlet in a brick wall. Since we just moved into the house and there were a lot of mystery switches I decided to hire William again to do a full electrical plan of our home. Aside from being very knowledgeable and reasonably priced, he is also an exceptionally nice guy. I look forward to having him do future work when I remodel my home.

William did an estimate the day that I called (the Thursday before New Year's eve). Got the estimate after the weekend. I scheduled the work for a week and half later, since this fit my schedule the best. William plus 3 other electricians came on time, finished faster than originally estimated and on budget. They did all the work in a way to minimize the amount of repatching and painting needed. They did an absolutely wonderful job and I would use them for any future electrical needs.

have hired william a couple of times before. He is always the quintessential professional. Who else comes out in the rain just to see what your electrical issue is? He is amazing. His crew is always equally professional. Rene, a gentleman who works with William was fantastic!! both men spend time cleaning up you never knew they were there~!! I only use Garofano I am dedicated as they show dedication equally.
