Description of Work: Dug up large portion of concrete driveway and neighbor's adjoining concrete driveway, along with a raised center divider. Replaced it with concrete which looked identical to that which was not removed. Excellent job and we are extremely satisfied with the results. Mr. Egald also provided us with advice about the proper permits we needed to get from the city because we needed to remove tree roots and dig up some of the city's asphalt. We would definitely use him again for any concrete work we needed to have done.

Description of Work: Efrain and his crew were awesome. They demoed my old walkway, were upfront about a drainage problem and suggested I postpone work until the issue was fixed, and then they resumed work. |Efrain is a perfectionist and did a great job on laying pavers on for the new walkway. I am going to try to ruin my driveway so I can hire him for another job.

Egald was one of a few contractors I had bid on the job. I was given a variety of repair options from a simple replacement of the removed concrete to other upgrade options. All were priced fairly. We chose the replacement option. Egald was great, calling the day before to confirm, then showing up on time with guys who went to work quickly. The job was completed in about six hours and looked great. They were very neat, piling the extra dirt in an out of the way area with a plastic cover they left behind.
Description of Work: We had to replace a section of driveway removed for a plumbing upgrade.

I called Efrain and he said he could come by the next morning and give an estimate. He came in the morning and said it would be $600. He said he could do the job right then and would be done in about 2 hours. He started working and was done in 2 hours. He even cut some extra concrete for me with a really cool look. I would highly recommend Efrain!! It was a great experience and i will be calling him again in the future for other projects.

I called Efrain after finding his company on this site. I was having a sewer replaced which required cutting holes in a badly cracked concrete driveway. Efrain was able to give me an estimate on the spot, and start work the next day. The job was small enough, about 3 yards of concrete, that Efrain said he could save me some money by mixing the concrete on the site instead of hiring in a concrete pump and a mixing truck. Efrain said he would have no trouble coordinating with the plumbing contractor, and even helped them cut the holes they needed to replace the sewer. He was very professional and personable at all times, even the plumbers were impressed with his professionalism and price. The finished driveway is beautiful and he cleaned up the job site perfectly. He also had some suggestions regarding improving drainage behind a concrete block wall on the property that could save me a lot of repair costs in the future. I look forward to using his company again.

Egald was great. He come up with ideas that really helped make the slab not look like... a slab. He re-used the brick from the former patio, clean it all by hand and re-set it as a border for the new slab which really helped tie it into the rest of the brickwork on the house. He removed some larger plants, raised our water heater and spread the dug out dirt amongst the nearbye plants. He was on time and cleaned up nicely.
Description of Work: We wanted to pull out the brick patio the previous owner had laid himself and pour a concrete patio about double the size.

They did an excellent job- it looks great. I liked that they were very professional, quick, and personable. I would definitely work with them again.
Description of Work: We had a section of our driveway that needed to be repaired. I met with Efrim (sp?). He was very friendly and professional- he gave me a bid which was much higher but we negotiated the work and came to an agreement. He came back a couple days later to complete the work of removing about a 1/8 of the driveway and laying new concrete and patching some other cracks (which required a second visit).

There is a much longer and more detailed referral listed here, and it was that opinion that persuaded me to use Efrain. My experience was exactly in line with the other referrals listed - Efrain was professional, punctual, did most of the work himself, and takes obvious pride in doing a job correctly. I'd use him again in a heartbeat, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend his work and his services. My job was fairly small - several cracked and eroded concrete sections of my driveway needed to be replaced. Efrain came out for an estimate on a Friday, we wrote up an invoice, and the work started on Monday. He and an assistant did amazing work demolishing the old concrete, grading the surface, and pouring the new stuff. HI\is eye for detail is terrific -- my neighbors had some old garden perimeter bricks that were embedded right next to my driveway. Efrain removed them to place his concrete forms, and then replaced them exactly as they had been. That's a small thing. Those bricks could have been dug up and removed and nobody would have noticed, but he was meticulous about replacing them. It's a small, nearly insignificant detail but Efrain went the extra yard to make sure it was handled. Overall, I couldn't be happier with his professionalism, his work ethic, and his craftsmanship. Highly recommended.
Description of Work: Efrain poured about 20-25 linear feet of split-rail concrete driveway. He demolished and removed the old concrete, graded the surface, and poured new concrete to match.

As a former assistant superintendent for a couple of single family home developers, I would consider myself relatively well-versed in construction. However, concrete finishing is an art that I have not done on a regular enough basis that I felt comfortable doing all the work described above. It also means I've seen some crazy shenanigans by contractors and am (i) leary about hiring people (I like to do as much myself as possible), and (ii) pretty critical of the work I do, as well as others'. So, I began calling contractors from Angies List, about 3 or 4 of whom showed up to give bids. There were a couple of guys who bid the job at around $4,600, and one whacko who came in at $15,000 (we're not in 2007 anymore Toto...). Anyhow, Efrain's initial quote was around $8,000 at which time I immediately told him he was way off base. However, he finally came down to about $5,000. But the one thing that cemented it for me, was that he was, by far, the most professional in appearance and demeanor of the contractors that showed up. I am not a big one for 'feel', but Ephrain just gave off a good vibe and I could tell he would do a great job...unlike the feeling I got interacting with the other guys. Anyhow, we negotiated the contract, which was the standard CA contractor form, appended with about 5 pages of detail that I requested (no pushback). The only MINOR negative experience I had with Efrain was he tried to retrade me for about $400. I think he honestly forgot that we'd agreed to a lower price, but luckily I noticed he had it marked down in his notes. Either way, we ended up at $5,200 vs the $5,000 and for the work he did, I would have given him that amount as a 'bonus' anyhow.... The work was pretty much as I expected....His attention to detail is excellent. He literally is a professional at his trade (he did muc of the work!) He spent a good portion of one day working out elevations with his transom. He also formed a couple of steps for no additional charge, but got that back when I widened a pathway by 1 foot. I noticed the entry porch steps were slightly cockeyed, so he tore down the forms and reset correctly. The end result, to me, was exactly as I desired and I couldn't be happier. Overall, Ephrain addressed all the minor issues I brought up more than satisfactorily (note: MINOR issues). I would like to think it was a successful project due to the collaboration between us (me noticing what I didn't like, telling him promptly, and him addressing the issue promptly). Through it all, he was polite, amiable and just an all around good guy. He brought his son one day, so I let him chill in my house and use the Playstation 3 and he locked up and turned everything off just as I'd requested. TI would most definitely hire Efrain again without a second thought....but I would also negotiate price with him a little too!! I really like Efrain and would recommend him to my best of friends with no reservations.
Description of Work: Egald was hired to pour (i) a dog run the length of the side of my house (about 70 linear feet by 4 feet); (ii) construct two planter walls in the front (about 28 linear feet x 18" high); (iii) two pilasters and my entry stoop and walkways; and (iv) install yard drains along the side of the house with the dog runs.

Efrain (the owner) was there on time, finished on time and oversaw the entire job. He actually did a a lot of the work himself rather than having his "workers" do it. He seemed to take pride in his work.

Well done and fairly priced. He got the job done on time. He did an additional job of fixing a spring on a door knob for no additional charge. Pleasant to work with.
Description of Work: He poured and 8' by 12' concrete slab for a shred.
