I did my research and called back the next day. I spoke to another polite woman and pointed out that the deal I had been offered was NOT the same as for new subscribers. The dollars were the same, but they got a free year of HBO channels, 3 free months of other premium channels and an Amazon Echo DOT. We both get 120 channels plus radio channels, totaling 190 channels. I referred her to the DISH.com website. She said I should be using the MyDISH.com website! Hogwash. She refused to give me the same deal. I told her I wanted the renewal dated back to 9/13 (the proper renewal date if I had been given 30 days' notice). We finally agreed on $49.99/month + $17 for hardware +taxes), effective that day but with courtesy credits for the non-notice (which neither gal would admit) after I threatened to tell VISA I had not agreed to the higher fee. Total increase: $10/month. I would give DISH an F for professionalism except that it answers the phone faster than previously, and both women remained polite when I was clearly angry at the company. Their tech support has been good. On the other hand, I just tried to print the DISH.Com offer, and it would only print the headers and footers-- 5 pages of them! Are they afraid of someone holding them to their offer? (I grabbed the text and made a Word file of it.) Why didn't they tell me earlier that I could avoid getting and paying for the sports' stations? I rejected DirecTV because its website didn't have a compact list of channels I could print and it wasn't clearly cheaper or better. Spectrum's website was also not very helpful.
Description of Work: I have had both DirecTV and DISH for at least two years apiece as I accepted their promotions and declined to pay much larger fees later. I just renewed with DISH, but I am angry about their intentional dishonesty. DISH takes the monthly bill from my VISA account and gives me a email notice of the amount and date charged but no other information about my bill unless I make a special effort to find it on their website. I had not done that lately, and they did NOT send me an email or letter saying that my preferential fees were expiring. I was suddenly charged $96.61 instead of $59.47, a 63% increase. I called and spoke to a polite woman who, at my request, removed the sports stations I never watch (I have told then that before), and politely quoted me a lower rate which she said was the same deal I would get if I were a new subscriber. I said I needed to research the alternatives and would call back.

It’s not Dish per se but it’s the fact that satellite is not the way to go for internet service – not if you’re on all the time. It just didn’t meet the needs, basically. So, it’s nothing against Dish, it’s just the technology. The internet connection was pretty stable; not as good as the cable. It’s just a different way of transmitting and so the speeds were not consistent and they also keep track of how much data you’re transmitting whereas it’s unlimited with others, and so if you hit that limitation you’d have to buy more, it would be more expensive. So, it’s just not a good way to use internet. As a company, I would grade them high because they were willing to answer our questions and walk us through what difficulties we were having.
Description of Work: My parent’s home had Dish Network for internet. They replaced it with some other provider seven months back.

I received a bill for a raise in the fees, so I called their customer service department, and they kept my bill at the rate of $15.63 per month. I only use the basic news channels, so it would be a waste of money for me to pay for more channels. When my six months was over, they let me continue at the reduced rate for another six months.
Description of Work: They have been keeping my bill at the lower price for 6 months and then renewed the lower price for an additional 6 months.

I like their system. First of all they provide probably too many channels. There's tons of channels. The quality of their broadcast is exceptional. We went out and bought a state of the art TV just so we could take advantage of the signals that they send. They provide this high-end definition stuff that Time Warner couldn't possibly do. Each room has its own recording device so we can record and watch in any room at any time anything we want. The amount of hours to record were much higher. I could go on to any of my connected devices and I can access any of my channels and watch any of my shows from any of my devices. Being at work I can watch TV or movies on my cellphone or on my laptop. Especially if you travel a lot, if you're in a hotel room or something, you can watch your movies or anything. It's an enabled feature. I called them up and they just walked me through the process and they fixed it. I haven't had any problems with them. I'm very happy with them.
Description of Work: I use them every month. The last time I had a service issue was probably about 4 or 5 weeks ago.

Dish uses independent contractors, so you never know who is going to show up on a service call. I pay a monthly fee for service coverage so I do not have to pay for service calls or equipment replacement. I have been a Dish customer for about 7 years and have had to replace my DVR/receiver about every two years. Long hold times for when calling customer service, but techs usually show up on time.

I have had Dish for 5 years, every 2-3 months I have to call them for some type of trouble shooting. Eventually, I finally get a hold of someone to come out on each occasion; which, yes they do come, but it is too much of a hassle to get someone to come out. In their behalf, the people that come out seem very knowledgable, but then another problem arises. It is just too much to deal with, I would not recommend them.

They have been excellent in their technology to helpful people who do not understand all that needs to be. They walked me through a lot of little things I was frustrated about and really took care of me. They try to get me through whatever I am looking for by doing it on the phone with automation. They are really wonderful if I can past that as they will work with me to solve my problem so that it does not exist. The package I have with them is not the cheapest but also not the most expensive one, but in-between. Their pricing is average and they are right in there with the others. They do not make me go through loops, bells and whistles to get to them. They have a really nice office and are really very courteous when I get to them. I have no problems with their quality and I always get my stations when I need them. They do not have as many stations compared to other companies for the price I am paying.
