Scam artists. Instead of a reverse air machine, they ran a shop vac in the attic for an hour, probably not connected to anything. They agreed to do the work in an Angie's List coupon that included furnace cleaning and cleaning of 10 registers, but when they arrived they tried to convince me that it only includes cleaning the outside of the furnace and that the shop vac was strong enough to clean all the registers from the inside. Wanted an extra $200 to clean the inside of the furnace.

We recently had our duct work replaced by SL Home Designs. Shawn, owner of the business, is very professional, personal and knowledgeable. He has high standards and integrity. His crew was efficient and pleasant. All around positive experience; we highly recommend his business. Rebecca Sieling

They were subcontracted out by my general remodeling company to install a new heating and AC in my home. They took out my old one and installed a new one. It took them 2 days. I chose an american standard unit and I wanted something quiet so. My project manager said that he works with this company all the time because they are quick easy and good at it. Happy to post this review because Shawn asked me to. We installed the unit about 3 months ago and everything is good.

Shawn and his crew were great. I was satisfied with his work and I am very happy that I was referred to him by a friend. They were professional and super clean. They repaired by broken air ducts in my attic and cleaned my downstairs ducts. The office was very helpful over the phone as well setting up the appointment with me and calling to confirm our appointment.

The company was professional, very quick to respond and easy to work with. I would hire them again in a heartbeat.

I called to ask what it meant when it said they only did 1 register, he explained that and how to count how many I had. He also made me an offer to do the work at the discounted price that was offered in the deal but to pay them directly after the work was done. I accepted the offer. A different person came out to do the air duct cleaning, he said the first thing he does it to inspect the system to make sure everything looks fine. He then told me that I had a rat problem and that the air duct was not put in shoddy, they were put on the ground instead of suspended. Also there was a hole in the roof. He showed me pictures on his phone and told me what they meant. He gave me a written write up of what it would cost, as they said there were going to give me an addition discount to correct everything, including suspending the ducts so they were off the ground. He gave me an estimate of 4300.00. He left and then I called a pest control company and they came out and said that they saw no evidence of rats. I then called a roofing company and they said that they did not see any evidence of a hole in the attic, but that it wasn’t his area of expertise. I feel like they were trying to do a high pressure sales technique on me for work that wasn’t needed. Now if I needed the work that sounds like it would have been a reasonable price.

the technician spent over an hour examining everything and pushing me to overhaul, upgrade, replace -- a few hundred for this or that, or a few thousand to replace this or that. when i insisted i did not want to spend anything over the $79 i had already paid Angie's List, he said he couldn't clean the vents because my ladder was too short. (i live in a loft with high ceilings). So i asked him to clean the return air vent, the one low enough that he could reach on my ladder. He climbed up, took out the disposable filter, and said i needed a new filter. i asked if he had any, i would pay extra if needed. he went to his truck, came back and said no, he didn't have the correct size. so he left the dirty disposable filter out, closed the grill, and said for me to call if i changed my mind and wanted a system overhaul.

S&L used a small vacuum machine (other companies use a strong machine in their van) and use spinning brushes to clean the vents. S&L wanted to charge extra to use spinning brushes. To thouruouly clean a spinning brush must be used to clean the ducts.

S L Home Designs sent out Mordechai to do an air duct cleaning service advertised on Angie's List for $79. After inspecting the ducting, he claimed that my ducting was damaged and torn in several places and that I need all my air ducts replaced. I signed a contract that same day for $4,380. After having second thoughts, I decided I wanted to get several more quotes to compare and cancelled the contract that same day. I hired an HVAC company to service my furnace and AC unit, the HVAC employee examined the ducting and stated that it was in good condition with no damage or tears evident. I also hired another air duct cleaning service to clean the air ducts. They provided the cleaning service and they informed me that the air ducts were in good condition and none were torn or damaged.

Could not do work since ducts in poor condition so didn't want to risk more damage.

It went very well. He will be doing more work.

Shawn responded promptly to our inquiry and showed up at the arranged time to service our air ducts. From the first he asked no questions about performance or problems, only for access to the attic to inspect the ducting. After climbing to the attic with my husband and inspecting the ducts, he informed us there was damage to them from rodents, so additional repair and/or replacement work, plus elimination of the rodents, would be necessary before the job of cleaning could even begin. He said he would submit 3 estimates the next day or so, which he did. Unfortunately, none were remotely feasible for us to accept, ranging between $1,541 and $3,971 - a huge upward jump from the $79 cleaning job we set out to do. My husband reacted with "sticker shock," protesting the order-of-magnitude difference between the original offer and final price, but Shawn offered no other option. We have not yet compared prices and services from other companies, and when we do we may discover the same "sticker shock" elsewhere. But this process takes time. So for now we will not be using Shawn's services. Instead, we will request a refund from Angie's List for the $79 already paid.

Roberto initially gave me a initial quote at $9000. He then said it would be $ 8000. When I told him I needed to get addtional estimates he brought it down to $7000. I asked how may linear feet of duct would be replaced he would not give me an answer. I asked him more than once. He then said he could be give a deal at $6500. He pulled the car salesman trick where he said he needed discuss it with his boss. When I hestitated he pulled I want to take care of you because your are latino. I gave in to the "deal". The crew came in and in appx 4hrs--do the math-completed the $6500 job. I blame myself for not getting addtional estimates. I also asked him about insulation. He said his company would charge about $5000 but he could do it for $3500. In this case I did get estimates and had another highly rated Angie List company perform the job for almost half his $3500 estimate. I know overpaid for the duct work. Will never recommend this company. This is not a fake review

The air duct was cleaned with a vacuum machine attached to a single vent. Only the vents on the floor and the air returns that had collected more dust were vacuumed individually. Inspecting/sanitizing furnace area was suggested for additional fee. He removed the rust in the area completely, according to the photos he took with my camera.

Shawn Levy, presumably the owner, contacted me promptly and was very courteous. At the agreed upon time, he promptly showed up and was ready to work. He asked to see the ducts in my crawl space. Shawn immediately concluded that his equipment was not capable of doing the job due to the size of the duck work and offered to give me back my money. I was impressed with his honesty since he could have gone through the motions and taken my money.

I got home late, but Shaun was nice enough to wait for me. Performed the service, but recommended I need a more extensive cleaning and to cut the tree down overlooking the AC. I will contact Shaun before Summer to have the cleaning done

From the first call, very quick response and came the next day. Explained everything, took pictures and started working connecting machines and by hand. Worked quick hard and clean. Will you again.

Angies list Search, Called SL after moving into my home and getting it inspected by an inspector. Discovered the air conditioning ducts have never been touched and cleaned. The filters were never changed and the insulation was bad according to inspection reports. The ducts had a lot of dirt and were torn apart and there was a bad smell coming from them. Shawn came in and cleaned my furnace, replaced my duct and removed my old insulation and installed new one. He changed my filter and gave me an extra one to change for next time for free. The smell went away, and everything is connected now. Looks great and works great! Shawn was very friendly and helpful telling me how everything was going and what process they were working on step by step. I wasn't pressured into buying anything and they didn't try to "upsell" me but I liked how everything was explained and knew I needed to do this from the inspection reports so I put my trust in them. Great competitive price and great friendly service

I bought air duct cleaning service for unlimited vents for $79. I thought it is a deal. The technicial arrived and inspected attic. The story started. He said there is disconnected duct, he could not perform the negative pressure vaccumming. He needs to to roto brush and replace the damaged duct. Total would cost me $2,200 and it is lifetime warranty. He also try to scare me that if I dont replace it, I will get a lot of dirty air and etc. Of course I did not do it. This is a single disconnection, could be taped easily. You think I was born yesterday?

Great service, straight forward and to the point. Shawn came my home to do a cleaning of the air conditioning unit and the ducts. He cleaned all the registers and spent a long time cleaning the AC unit. He also replaced the batteries in our thermostat. Good job overall. Will you again

Never before have I been so blatantly lied to by a professional service person. I called SL Home Designs to ask about duct cleaning. Shawn Levy came to the house on 2/8/17 went into the attic and said that 5 ducts could not be cleaned as they have or were made with asbestos material and that if they broke during the cleaning his people would be in danger. Point made, point understood. He pointed to his business card which stated that he was under compliance with the EPA. He would replace the 5 ducts in question for $1,500. and could do the job immediately. I know that the use of asbestos was discontinued somewhere in the 50s or 60s and the duct work in our house was installed in the 1980s. So simple arithmetic told me that he was lying. I contacted General Heating, with whom we have a twice yearly inspection and cleaning agreement, and asked them to come for their service and to advise me if indeed the ducts had the presence of asbestos. They categorically told me "no" and stated so on their service report. If you hire this company, do so at your own risk.

Needed to get some attic work done and did a quick search online for an HVAC contractor. I called shawn and set up an appointment with him. He came over fully prepared with pictures and information about the ductwork that is required and with the most efficiency. After discussing price, I decided to give him a shot because I liked his work ethic. Shawn and his crew worked around the clock and finished the job in a full day. It was done very professionally. It's been about a month now since they did the work and I am very happy with the job. Thanks for the hard work.
