I didn’t use them but the people who owned the house did and I inherited that mess. When we had a problem he just looked around and he missed the exterior crack; the chimney was in no condition to use. If we had used the chimney we could have set the house on fire. He was supposed to find everything that was wrong with the chimney and tell us what it would cost to fix it. He missed the whole crack. When he was talking to me about my house he was trying to figure out what was the bare minimum, even though it wasn’t up to code.
Description of Work: Chimney Jack gave us an estimate to fix our chimney.

Our brick chimney, which is at the front of our house, had been damaged in several previous earthquakes. There were cracks running throughout the top of the chimney, and at its highest point, the chimney was two feet below our roof line-a dangerous situation that needed immediate attention. Since we live in a Los Angeles historic overlay zone, we had to follow strict guidelines when repairing and or renovating any feature of this 1923 Tudor Revival home. Chimney Jack quoted for rebuilding from the chimney breast upwards, and plans were drawn and permits applied for. But when the crew arrived to begin work, it was discovered that they had to rebuild from the ground up due to some calculation mistakes in the original measurements; though the difference is cost would have been substantial, Jack honored his original quotation to us, which we greatly appreciated. The crew also took great care in preserving all of our original brick so that the new chimney could be faced with this brick. There was one snafu in the middle of the process, wherein work ceased for a few weeks due to scheduling conflicts, but once this passed, the process picked up and proceeded without further hitches. The crew's work was impeccable and they made everything from the permit process to the finishing touches relatively painless for us. Highly recommended if you are looking for proper crews who do work up to code. Not the cheapest company, but by no means the most expensive.
Description of Work: Entire brick chimney plus fire box and hearth rebuilt from the ground up. Chimney brought up to code and reinforced. Fire box entirely rebuilt and gas log-lighter installed.

It looks and works great! The outside texture and paint job looks very nice. It took about four weeks only because the inspectors went on strike for a week. Otherwise, they would have finished in three. After they completed mine, my neighbors across the street hired them.
Description of Work: They tore down my old chimney and built a new one.
