I think some of the things could have been done a little better, but overall, I would say they are pretty decent. They are a little bit on expensive side, but the quality of the workmanship for structural, concrete, and brickwork is excellent, but I am not too crazy about their landscaping work. Otherwise, the owner is very personable and you can work with him.

They're supposed to start next week. Before they did a great job. They did great quality work for their concrete and yard design. Great workmanship for their brick work as well.

I really like their responsiveness and professionalism.

Overall, CL did the job they were hired to do. There was some confusion with the way the owner did her billing. In one area they planted less than the final design called for, so the owner put a rock there instead of buying another plant! A Flax plant near the front of the house was not within an area of emitters and died. One of the larger bushes has never grown, and despite requests to evaluate the situation (basically, I wanted a re-installation), there was never a satisfactory conclusion to that. I have been told since that there was most likely an issue with the way it was planted. I asked several times if the owner would come by to check on plants and help with adjusting the water controller. She came by twice but it was difficult to get a response. My feeling was that they were more interested in the larger projects. When asked, I was first told that they didn't do maintenance and then months later the owner changed her mind and sent me a quote for annual follow up. At that point, I was no longer interested in using this company.

My daughter wanted a garden wedding in August. We hired California Landscape to design both hardscape and landscape, and we wanted to make sure that flowers would be blooming by August. Gayle Martin made that possible. She smart and very knowledgeable specially when it came to plants. Her responsiveness to our requests and change of plans was incredible and her pricing was very reasonable since the job was really backbreaking. My husband and I have our own home business, so we were there to observe and check once in a while the progress of her people's work. We could see her employees never goofed off but were always hard at work and she was always present to supervise, that is probably one of the reasons why the job went so smoothly and quickly. We started late February and ended late March, one month! I highly recommend California Landscapes for hardscape and landscape work, including landscape design. Families and guests at the wedding were very pleased and impressed of the result of her work. If anyone wants a picture, we will send some to Gayle so you can ask her directly.

Gayle's team was prompt, professional, competent and clean. Gayle is both a contractor and designer and has a team of subs that work directly for her so the tight management is reflected in the high quality of the work and the way they conducted themselves. I also appreciated her design experience that enabled her to successfully modify my plan to achieve my objectives while staying within my tight budget.
