The project consisted of remodeling a half bath, replacing the kitchen flooring, making repairs to the rest of the house and painting inside and out. They were very professional and clear in the estimate process. The only reason we did not choose them is that their price was higher than the bid we chose. Our guess is that they would have provided excellent service for the price and been a good value.

They are really nice people. They gave me the quotes pretty quickly. Their price quote was high. The person who came in to give me the quotes was nice. They gave me their advice of probably how I should do the remodeling and I think some of the advice was pretty useful. I would say to other members that if you have them in your budget I would recommend them. They gave me a finishing time of like two weeks, which is like pretty quick.

We were renting the place and now we are selling it so they were doing some work to get it ready for sale. I was not there when they did the work but I did a walk through inspection when they were finished. They did a really great job and were meticulous. I was very happy it. When we reached out to a number of companies, they responded first and had very good communication and that was also good. We would definitely use them again in the future if needed.

I needed to remodel my 50's style main bathroom and Shai and his team did a very good job. Tom, who is Shai's partner, came out to the house to give me a quote. I had already interviewed two other contractors and Butel was the third. Tom brought up some technical considerations and possible solutions that the other contractors did not even mention. I knew at this time that they would do quality work. Shai and his team exemplify the best in customer service. If I have any issue, I send Shai a text and usually the next day they're here to take care of it. The skilled folks who come to the house are generally courteous and do great work. There was a few weeks delay due to the custom cabinet design not having started early enough and the drawers had to be refinished because of scuff marks during transport but the end product was very good. If you're like me and the quality of the work is of utmost importance, Shai is your man.

I did not have them to do the work. That would have been May of last year. It was probably, something around $70000 or $75000. I do not know if they have anything specific about them, but when I did my search on Angie’s list, I have my criteria and they had good grades, went quotes by things been reliable, and done some little work. I met with one of the sales reps, I thought it was a kind of a hard fail which I did not like and would never appreciate in this kind of situation whether it also notch money and time. And so, I think, that might have been one of the higher factors on my negative list. I do not recall any specific characteristics of that company that would have stood out among the others, other than the fact that they had some experience doing that kind of work they went quotes by, had good rating, some others, I think, pretty positive reviews. Again, that is in several months ago. I do not remember the exact detail. They get back to me. I do not have the real basis to determine that. I have to find it very difficult to grade professionalism that I will need actual work been done. It is probably not indicative about the staff or the cool work. I am not really sure, I am trying to recall, and I do not even remember the name of the person I spoke with. So, maybe, I could not say definitely. Not at this point. I will prefer to do that when I am prepared.

We met with Shai several times to work out the details and a price. The contract was very specific, which I liked. The house is a 1941 ranch style of 900 sq. ft. We were adding 500 sq. ft on a single level. We did not have an architect yet. I felt Butel would have been a great fit for us. The only reason we did not sign with Butel was the price. Butel has a great understanding of the process of remodeling a house. He gave us some good suggestions that we heeded. He always answered our calls, or had his office assistant call us. I would try and use him in the future if the price could be negotiated.

Shai, Jose and Miguel did an excellent job! I was nervous about adding laundry machines to a bedroom closet and how it would look, but it is obvious the job was completed by professionals and looks great. Shai and team knew about my concerns and gave me their suggestions on how to keep the closet and bedroom looking good and even took a couple extra days for me to receive the machines and demonstrate what the end result would look like before finishing the job to ensure I was going to be happy. Access to a neighboring unit was required to complete the job and Shai even took on unrelated extra work for the neighbor as a result and to keep everything running smoothly. The team was punctual, responsive and did great work. It seems like the team went above and beyond to address any questions or concerns I had (mostly from me just being nervous). The finished project looks fantastic - much better than I imagined. Would highly recommend Butel Construction to others and would definitely call Shai again for my next project.

Shai and Tom were professional and punctual from the start. They met with us immediately after asking for a quote and got to work right away. Every one of their contractors was professional, fast and courteous. They exceeded our expectations. We were informed of everything throughout the entire process and both Shai and Tom, as well as the office manager Anthony, were always easy to reach if we had questions. They took an interest in our family and were always checking in, asking about my pregnancy. Every person we came in contact with at Butel Construction was very kind and a joy to work with. I would recommend them to anyone as they did an amazing job. We get nothing but rave reviews about our kitchen and it's all thanks to them.

When I first interviewed 3 companies. One of them lied about the time frame it would take just to get started (said it would take 6 months just to start cause of permits), other company said they would do the work but didnt want me on the site during the process (which I though was shady). Butel was honest, upfront, and had a reasonable bid, I immediately felt comfortable speaking with the owner. Overall the work Butel did was amazing. My girlfriend is an Interior designer and she drew up plans. There were a couple of glitches on several instances on were things were meant to go, but Butel was quick to fix any errors on there part. I was clear on all the specifics on what I wanted Butel to do and they upheld integrity on their part of the bargain in a timely and professional manner. He has a great responsive team willing to make accommodations to make me happy. I was very happy with the overall work and final results.

We originally got the name of Butel Construction from Angie's list and recently contracted with them for a fourth remodeling job on our house. Butel has been a pleasure to do business with. We have been completely satisfied with the excellent quality of work performed each time. The price for each job has been fair and we've never been charged for unexpected "extras". Workers are at the house every day until the job is finished. The men take care to be as tidy as possible and always clean up at the end of the day. Each project has been completed on time. We would not hesitate to recommend Butel to our friends and family.

Overall, our remodel went very well. Shai Butel and his team are very professional and readily available. The quote was reasonable compared to other quotes we received. Cost was important, but the feeling of trust was more important. Tom, who provided the quote was timely and followed up extremely well. Of the 5 contractors we talked to, 3 of them eliminated themselves by simply not getting back to us in a timely manner. Shai did a great job in coordinating the team and presenting information to us as it came up. The project went longer then expected partially due to our level of detail and extras that we added along the way. Everyone who remodels should be aware that as you tear walls and floors apart, you may find items underneath that need to be fixed or replaced. For instance, when we took apart the kitchen floor, we found severe water damage to the support studs beneath the floor. You have to make the decision to live with what you have or replace the wood. We replaced the wood and Shai was very good in helping us through the process....but it does cost more. The workers on the project were all very professional and I did not notice much downtime. As a rule, all of Shai's people were very courteous and hard workers who did the job correctly. When we had something that we did not like, Shai was available and helped us through the correction. For example, the shower faucet was not centered in the way we wanted it. After, looking at it, Shai had his guys tear through walls and tile that was just installed to fix the problem for us. One other nice story to relay was when we had a very sick pet cat stuck under the house. Shai sent two of his guys over on a non-work day to help rescue the cat. We really appreciated the extra effort as that took several hours of time for two of the guys. My overall experience was excellent!

Our experience with Shai and the team of professionals at Butel Construction could not have been better. Our new kitchen lies within the same footprint as the old one, but because of good design, we now have more counter space, more cabinet space, much better lighting, and even even more place to stand. Shai was very helpful with useful design suggestions (e.g., type and organization of cabinets) and responsive to implementing our ideas (e.g., a 10" deep counter in one small area). The professionalism of Shai's staff and subcontractors was outstanding. They remained in contact with us every step of the way, and they were punctual, organized, and professional. There were only a few changes to the original schedule and cost estimates, and those were not driven by Butel Construction, but by the kind of unexpected discoveries that occur in remodeling an older home like ours (under-house drains that needed to be replaced) and by our own changes (adding lighting to a cabinet, painting of an adjacent hallway). The entire project took 10 weeks to complete. The City (of West Hollywood) inspectors were clearly impressed with the completeness and quality of the work whenever they came out, and the final inspector even said that he hoped to see Butel do more work in the city in the future. This job also required (per code and city requirements) the addition of new electrical circuits for the kitchen and the relocation of the entire in-house electrical panel, which involved the re-routing conduit and wires in the tight crawlspace under the house. The inspector was particularly impressed with how well this was completed. So many people describe their kitchen remodeling experiences as nightmares, but that was not the case at all for us. We will be turning to Butel Construction again for future projects we are planning.

The overall experience was great. On the bathroom model I got a few quotes and Butel was in line with the other quotes. From the outset they showed up when they said they would and were organized. Tom delivered the quote when he said they would and from then on the scheduling was smooth. The entire team was professional, and explained everything as they went through. In addition to the local site manager, the owner Shai Butel was involved and visited the site frequently. He made suggestions through out which was appreciated given our inexperience. Shai kept us informed of what would be happening when and coordinated all the resources to minimize our involvement other than when decisions needed to be made. The ensured everything was protected to avoid damage during demo and cleaned up everyday after themselves. This was the first experience I had gone through with a remodel and I could not be happier. In any project there are certain issues (nothing major) and Shai and his team addressed them promptly and I felt he genuinely cared about the project and his reputation. Given the experience, we hired Shai for a second project and that one like the first went smoothly and we were happy with the results. Shai has a great team from Miguel the site manager, angel the tile guy, Zion, the general contractor and his team. All were responsive to any questions and followup. To the extent we do additional projects Shai will be at the top of our list.

This is our second time using Butel Construction and they are great. This bathroom renovation went very well and the final product is better than I could have envisioned. Shai and his crew are the best. They are very professional and did a great job of keeping the job on time and on budget. There are never surprises when working with Shai and his company. Whenever I did have a question Miguel was right there to get me an answer quickly. I highly recommend Butel Construction if you are looking for quality service.

We met with a few contractors including Butel, and ultimately chose Butel for our upstairs bathroom remodeling project based on their reliability, professionalism, and responsiveness. Their bid was also fairly reasonable compared to the other bids we received. The project started promptly once we gave them the green light and from start to finish, the Butel team was very efficient and thorough in their work which included demolition and removal of all existing fixtures, installation of new fixtures, new flooring and walls with tile, and new paint. Throughout the roughly 3 week long project, either Shai or Tom was always available and extremely prompt with addressing concerns and making to sure to rectify any problems. For example, I mentioned to Shai that the corner where the tiled shower bench meets the tub was fairly sharp after the work was complete, definitely a child safety issue for us since the bathroom is primarily for our toddler. Shai and his team were very understanding of this concern and they went out of their way to find a special corner cover for the tub. We're overall very satisfied with our bathroom. The Butel team understood our vision for the new bathroom and executed it well in a fairly short time frame.

Tom a partner of Shai Butel (the owner) came out and met with my husband and myself to do a proposal. I had collected 3 Bids and after reviewing references scope and $$, we chose Butel Construction Inc. We chose them as they had a transparent proposal that allowed my husband and myself to shop and choose to our taste. They did have a rep that was offered at no additional cost to show us samples as well for those who don't have the time to shop. The pulled all the proper permits and were very.. very.. clean, conscientious, and courteous through out the construction project and completed on time. Shai Butel and Miguel out site supervisor are both so easy to work with and easy to reach at all times. I have 2 more bath's that need work and will be calling on them when the time comes.

Butel was great. Tom initially arrived at my condo to give me an estimate. He was on-time, personable, and gave me a firm price which was very fair based on my research. Once the paperwork was taken care of (which was painless), we scheduled a start date and Shai and his team arrived on that date and handled the job quickly and competently. It was a great experience and I highly recommend Butel. In fact, I am using their services again to do some minor remodeling in my kitchen.

We reviewed 3 contractors before choosing Butel Construction. The estimator, Tom was professional and punctual, and made us consider many details we hadn't thought of. Their estimate was the same as other contractors, within about $100 or so. The contract process was lengthy due to our specification, but Tom was responsive throughout, making all amendments we requested. Once the project commenced, we worked with Shai Butel, the owner, and his foreman. Both were a pleasure to see each morning. Whenever we were nervous or concerned about something, Shai would come over and work things through with us. His foreman was always willing to rectify something that wasn't to our satisfaction. They also handled the work site in an acceptable manner, disposing of the waste in their own receptacle and providing their own Porta-Potty to use, keeping the property as clean as they could. Our project was demanding, involving complex installations like a curbless shower with a channel drain, but Shai and his team are excellent problem solvers. In particular what I really appreciated was that they never tried to change my mind about what I wanted. They always worked to achieve my vision. They encountered many issues on our project which were unforeseen and Shai and his foreman always kept us in the loop as to what was happening. Whenever a change-request was needed, we received it in writing before any work commenced. And in the end, Butel facilitated the receipt of lien waivers from all sub-contractors. I would definitely have Butel Construction work on another project.

I reviewed 14 different contractors. Butel construction was the only one that I found worthy of my bathroom. The came in and did a very good job handling the remodel. The tile work, which I consider the most important, was first class.

We are in the bidding process for 400 sq ft family room. We found Butel Construction on Angie's List and chose them specifically based on the reviews, they were the most glowing of all the larger companies. We already had the blueprints completed and approved and printed enough to provide each of the contractors who were bidding on the project. Tom, one of the owners of Butel, came as scheduled to complete the inspection on 6/3/2013. He was friendly and punctual. We were advised the quote would take one week. This was standard with the other contractors as well, and we were in no hurry as being accurate with the bid was more important to us than the timeliness of it. However, after three weeks, we had not heard back from Butel. We called on the week of June 24 and spoke with Tom. He apologized and advised us that it would take another week. Two days after that conversation, we received a call from the secretary at Butel requesting a copy of the plans in PDF form, of which we did not have and reminded him that we had actually provided Tom the blueprints when he came out for the inspection. He thanked us and advised us that we would get a call back. To date (7/14/13) we have not received that call back. Honestly, I have no doubt this company is good based on the majority of the reviews, but it has been well over a month and we have not received the estimate. We have done much of the ground work already. We had plans professionally created by an architect and paid the city fees to have those plans approved (no small expense). If Butel lost the plans, I would have been much happier had they just advised us of the issue and arranged either another visit or reimbursed us the cost for a second set of plans that we would have been happy to provide. At this point, we grade Butel as "incomplete." I work in a service industry myself, and really do not like to provide negative feedback, and really try to be objective where possible, and objectively, they have not fulfilled their commitments and have not taken ownership of that failure.

Our bathroom needed to be completely redone. After getting several quotes, we chose Butel because Shai seemed very honest and understood what we wanted to do with our bathroom, and that we were on a budget. At the start of this process, we felt a bit intimidated by most contractors, because we felt that our project was not as "major" as some of the projects that they were used to doing. Shai did not come across this way at all, he seemed very honest and genuine throughout the process. He and his foreman were always only a phone call away and when there were important decisions to be made, Shai and hie crew were always patient and opened to our whims. When a piece cracked and broke off of one of our skylight covers, Shai was able to find the same cover and replace it for a very reasonable price. We love our newly remodeled bathroom!

I have interviewed six contractors for this project, all of them have excellent reviews from Angie's list. I chose to work with Butel construction because they are very professional and the price is reasonable, not the cheapest, but not the most expensive either. I must say I made the right choice. Tom came by to look at my place initially. It took three weeks before I got the bid, but the bid is comprehensive and detailed. What's more, he was able to adjust the bid to my specifications, so that all details are covered. Some of the other contractors just gave me a rough quote and they will give me the final number if I sign the contract, which adds a lot of uncertainties. When the project actually started, Shai Butel, president of the company, personally supervised all aspects of the project. He is absolutely the best in his business. The best thing about working with him is that he is accessible almost any time. He must have his cell phone with him all the time until he goes to bed! Any concerns you have about the project he will usually deal with it immediately. Texting is a good way of communicating with him. He took customer satisfaction to heart. His crew is equally nice and efficient. They are polite and keep the place clean and draped up properly. Miguel the foreman, Jose, Angel the tile guy. All very nice to deal with. They are very hard working too. I remember Angel working half day the weekend before Christmas so that the electrician can do his work on schedule! The quality of the work is excellent. These guys works fast too. The demolition of the kitchen and the guest bath was done in one day. I have been delaying this project for many years because I dreaded having to deal with all the headaches and potential pitfalls with such an undertaking. Shai made it much easier. He knows how to efficiently use his crew so that the project flow easily and there were no long gaps between different phases of the project.. He also updates you as to what will be done the next day. The project start in November 2012 and took about three and a half months. It could have taken less time if I allow them to do the two bathrooms at the same time. Since I have to wait for one bath to finish before the other one can be started, it took a little bit longer. One unexpected delay was the under cabinet LED Nora lights that I chose. They came just recently on the market and we had to wait for them to be available, even though by then most of the project has been completed already. Then it turns out there is some manufacturer's defect and the colors of the lights were not uniform. It took two more months before we got the right lights from Nora installed. Shai has been very conscientious in going back and forth with Nora to have them provide the right lights, even though this must have been a great hassle to him and his crew. The subcontractors are very good too. The kitchen cabinets from G & L Designs are excellent, and they were able to provide me with the high quality details that I wanted without significantly increasing the cost. Gil from Milano Granite was also great. I was hoping to cover all my kitchen counter tops with one piece of granite instead of two. Gil was able to do that without a seam. All in all the project went much better than I anticipated and all my friends said that the results are beautiful.
