B & J Plastering

When organizing my attic in my 100 year old home I slipped and stepped right through the ceiling creating a good size hole. I called 4 plaster companies on Angie's. Brad came over a gave me a realistic quote and knocked it out, making it look brand new. Lath and plaster is no joke and you need someone who can give you insights and bring skill sets. Brad, with over 30 years experience, is your man. B and J is my go-to for all my plaster needs. Most plaster folks wont even bother with minor jobs.

He came out quickly to give me the estimate, and then Emailed me the estimate. He was able to schedule the work quickly as well. I would definitely call him again. The job took one day and a couple of hours of the second.

Contact Brad about the work. He came out and gave me an estimate. The work involved places where plaster was separating from lathe and other degradation. Brad gave me an estimate via email. He came out at the time and on the date promised. He covered and protected all furniture and other items. He repaired all the areas, including ensuring that the underlying lathe was o.k. After the work, he and I inspected everything. He removed the protective covers and cleaned everything to my satisfaction. A quality job.

We have not been able to coordinate all our schedules time that would match all our schedules but will be asking Brad in the next few weeks to finish the job.

Brad was excellent! He came out promptly and gave me an estimate for stucco repair and painting of an exterior wall. When he later came out to do the work, there was an additional area that needed attention and he included that for a small additional charge. He had to come back on a second day to do the painting and, even though he'll tell you he's not a painter, both the stucco work and the painting were done with care and skill. Brad was also careful about keeping things neat and clean and I would recommend Brad without reservation.

The owner, Brad was an absolute pleasure to deal with from start to finish of my small project. He was very courteous and professional and his workmanship was high quality. Even though my project was small, Brad was responsive (came out the next day) and his prices were fair and reasonable. After dealing with a nightmare general contractor who caused the problem Brad was hired to fix, dealing with Brad was a breath of fresh air. Would definitely hire again for larger projects.

I am 100% satisfied with the work they did. Brad is a true professional with many years of experience. I called him on a Monday and the job, which took all or part of three days, was completed on Thursday of the same week. I would definitely use his services again and recommend him to anyone needing stucco or plaster work.

Needed an estimate for some exterior work on my home. He did call back promptly. Unfortunately what I need isn't in the scope of what he does. I will likely call him in the future for other work.

I had had this previously patched by another person, but when it failed, he would not warranty the work. I used Angie'sList to find B & J Plastering. I actually sent a message with photos about 10:30 pm one night and was surprised that I got a reply within 5 minutes. They came out the next day to look at it and give and estimate and within 2 days it was fixed. I was very pleased. Greg Callahan was the one who did the work. He actually charged me less that the initial estimate. If I ever need work again, I will definitely use this company. I wanted to upload photos to show how great the work looked, but I guess I can't. I will try to send them directly to the company.

They were excellent. They came on time. They did a good job. They were clean.

I've used Brad twice, once for an exterior job and once for an interior. The exterior work involved repairing missing stucco behind a section of trim around a window, and some small patches. The interior was repairing a one foot high section around three walls of a bathroom. Both times he was timely and affordable, and very clear about the scope of work and effort involved. When repairing the bathroom, Brad and his guys also kindly replaced the wax seal on our toilet (which they removed to access the wall behind it) and fixed up some non-plumb wall work. Really great, reliable work. Plan to use him in the future for all plaster and stucco jobs.

Brad and his crew arrived right on time (actually a wee bit before they promised to be here). They went right to work. Brought up all necessary scaffolding and materials. My bathroom ceiling was completed on the 1st day. I must say, they did a beautiful job. They screwed 1/2 inch drywall into the existing lath, and then taped and sealed it up and went over it with compound. I'm quite serious when I say that not a seam is visible anywhere on that ceiling. The job they did was PERFECT! I couldn't be happier with their work. On 4//2/2014, they returned to complete the attic entry and fix the ceiling in my linen closet. Those two tasks were also done to perfection! I can now return my towels and linen to my closet. There is one more thing I'd like to point out.....I have a very old house. the bathroom floor is old hexagon mosaic tile ( white with black) The door is an old skeleton key type, which would drag across the floor when being opened or closed. Since they had removed the door, one of Brads crew offered to shim the bottom of the door so it wouldn't drag. Again done perfectly. They went the extra distance to satisfy a customer. To sum it all up, I am very happy and satisfied with the job they did, and when my kitchen ceiling falls I'll be calling them back. Michael B. Vermette

Brad was the only stucco contractor who came out to look at the job before we had our new French door framed. Others that I contacted asked me to email photographs or said that they would only give an estimate once the door was in place. Since I wanted the stucco and plaster done quickly after the door was done, it was important to me to get the estimate beforehand. Brad also seemed like an honest, down to earth person and I decided quickly after meeting him that I wanted him to do the job. Some of the things that the door framer did seemed to pose a couple of small challenges for Brad, and I was initially a little worried when he expressed his concerns. But he, Mike Wingo (also on Angie's List), and Greg quickly solved the problems and did a beautiful job. I am a perfectionist and I have very high standards. I rarely am 100% happy with work that is done on our home, but I was this time! A few days after Brad was done, I noticed that the interior bullnose corners didn't quite reach the floor. I contacted Brad, and he came out to fix the problem. It is now perfect! Thanks, Brad, Mike, and Greg!

When Brad inspected the house for the estimate, he recommended we install drywall on one of the ceilings as being less expensive than plaster repair. He recommend a drywall contractor and coordinated the work. Both Brad and the drywall contractor said if there are any issues that a future painter has they will come back and take care of it. He did a good job of protecting the furniture and cleanup. Even helped me move a piano.

I worked with Brad from B&J Plastering and he was great. Multiple phone calls, emails and visits to keep me updated on the status of material and to make sure everything was right. He and his crew were very prompt and did a great job on removing and replacing the stucco trim and crawlspace entry. I only wish the previous owner of my house had called B & J Plastering! After meeting with Brad, I didn't see the need to get other estimates, so I don't know how he compared to other contractors. For the time he spent getting the material, the material cost itself and the labor involved, I believe it was very reasonable considering the quality. Will definitely use B & J Plastering again for any future stucco work.

I sent a message through Angie's List, including pictures of the damage to our exterior garage wall. Brad responded the same day (on a Sunday) and provided a preliminary quote for the work, subject to verification once he was onsite. We spoke over the phone on Monday to confirm that the preliminary quote was acceptable and that he would come out on Saturday to perform the work. Brad arrived early to the job and we reviewed the work to be done. We talked about how the damage might have come about and he checked the wall thoroughly to determine how much would need to be replaced. He provided detailed information about what type of material our wall had applied to it (Tex-Cote) and what materials he would use to repair it and why. He was extremely knowledgeable about different types of plastering. After reviewing the scope of work onsite, Brad confirmed that the original quote did not need to be altered and even agreed to patch up several other smaller areas that were not in the pictures I originally sent. He completed the work in approximately 2.5 hours. After the work was done, he provided advice regarding possible future maintenance in the area as it related to care of the stucco. I am extremely happy with Brad's service and I would absolutely have him come out to perform additional work in the future.

LOOK NO FURTHER! Seriously, look no further for your needs. I was online looking for a stucco repairman at 8:30pm on a Thursday night when I found Brad. I called the B&J phone number expecting to leave a message. Brad, himself, answered and based on my description of the job gave me quote over the phone! He then came over the next day and had the job done by 1pm! (less than 24 hour turn around time!) While he was here, we had him do some additional patching of damaged stucco. Brad was courteous, on time, very fairly priced, and he did the work himself. This is your guy! We will most definitely use him again.

Brad was great from the first phone call. He was responsive and his quote was very competitive. His communication and follow-up were also commendable. We were very happy with his work and will call him next time we have a plaster problem.

I contacted Brad to re-stucco the exterior wall of my house that had a hole from recent plumbing work. He was able to show up, give me an estimate, and have the work done by the time I got home from work, which I really liked. The actually patch looks much better than I thought it would, so I was pleasantly surprised.

An estimate was given for a portion of the job. We wanted to make sure they could do a good job. After they exceeded expectations, we awarded the full job. My mom was very pleased with the outcome, so pleased that she asked me to leave a positive review for the company.

Brad couldn't take my particular job. But, he still took time out of his schedule to talk to me about my job. I really appreciate that Brad !!! I'm new on Angie's list and so far, our conversation has been the off set for my yearly subscription here on Angie's list. Yes, I've spoken to other contractors here. None, have compared to Brad. Brad listen to the whole situation, took his time, wasn't concerned about a hiked up price, was only interested in delivering the correct and complete job. Thank you, Brad !!! Cut back stucco damage to studs, rewired, flashed breaker box with Vitcithane, and laid new stucco, matching texture. Coordinated with City Inspector to make sure code was met. Phone call to estimate to completion took only four days.

Brad was on time every morning and worked efficiently. He noticed additional areas that needed further work and did not ask for additional monies. However, I did actually give him more for the job done because he deserved it. Considering the extreme heat he opted to work three partial days instead of rushing the process in the unbearable afternoon. Since I still had a few weeks before the painter was scheduled it worked out perfectly. He also said if later there are more spots we see, to call and he will return for no additional charge.
