He was very fast to get back to you and get you an estimate. He stuck right to the game plan and told me exactly how much it would cost and how long it would take. There is no mess or clean up, you couldn?t even tell he was there.

Another GREAT job by Brad! He showed up on time to give me an estimate, and did the work again beautifully. I will definitely be using him in the near future for another external stucco patch. Brad is really the best in the business, and I won't trust my stucco and plaster to anyone else.

Phoned Brad and we discussed the problem at length; he visited the home promptly (within 24 hours) and gave me his honest opinion of the work scope that was needed. He was very professional and extremely prompt and even though we did not move forward with this company for scope reasons, this company is definitely a "keeper."

We are repeat customers! Brad responded to my email the same day and was able to squeeze us in the next morning. He is always courteous, prompt, knowledgeable about his craft and focused on getting the job done. It turned out that the wall had had a prior repair from some time before our ownership, over 10 years ago. The repair was done the wrong way - with joint tape and layers of plaster over it - so Brad scraped off all the bad stuff and fixed the wall the RIGHT WAY (i.e., not with joint tape and compound). He also covered a few other more superficial cracks in the same room and in another room of the house. It all looks like nothing ever happened - just the way it should. We are so relieved we found Brad. Seeing that we may have plaster wall issues in the future, and may run into more controversy with our contractor, it is nice to know that we won't have to settle for sloppy repair work on important, very visible areas of our home, or entrust the work to someone who just wants to do it the easy way. Thank you so much Brad (again)!
Description of Work: We had a floor-to-ceiling crack in a spare bedroom. This room is directly above a corner of the house where the foundation was dug-out and underpinned by a contractor. This work was supposed to prevent any further settling, but that didn't happen - about three months after the work was done, the corner "re"-settled so deeply that a huge gash ran across one wall of the room, as if someone had run a pick through the plaster. Not pretty. After a lot of back-and-forth with our contactor about coming back to fix it, we asked Brad if he could help us out (the contractor's claim was that he didn't do any work inside that room, and it therefore was not part of his responsibility, nevermind the fact that the room was sitting directly above the work he did).

Brad previously did an extensive replastering job in my living room after a leak from an upstairs water heater earlier this year. We had another leak in the ceiling in July after an upstairs shower drain cracked. Brad came out to look at the ceiling immediately after the leak occurred and made some recommendations about how much of the ceiling to demo. He recommended removing a small area which saved us a lot of money in repairs. After we had the drain repaired and allowed the ceiling and adjacent wall to dry thoroughly, Brad came out and re-lathed and plastered the coved ceiling area. His work is absolutely smooth and he is a true perfectionist. He is punctual and a pleasure to deal with. I will always request Brad's plastering and stucco services for future jobs.
Description of Work: Surveyed damaged ceiling after leak occurred; recommended portions of damaged ceiling to remove; returned after ceiling dried out; removed further damaged lathe and plaster as necessary and re-lathed and plastered the area.

My house which was built in the 1940's has had additions, bad paint jobs, bad stucco patches and bad tex-cote applied over the years. B & J Plaster has done a great job fixing all of the problems with the surface so that my new paint job comes out well. Brad had done extensive work on the house but when we began painting I tore down the old rain gutters and discovered some additional problems. Brad came by at the end of the day to fix this. It took him at least an hour but he told me 'not to worry about it.' The next day I reconsidered the stucco on the back side of my garage and decided to have Brad repair it as well. He adjusted his schedule and came by the next morning to do it so that we would stay ahead of the painters who were already in progress. Brad is Extremely Fair, Hardworking, and Very Very Skilled!!! Thanks for everything!

At our first meeting, the owner described how the job would be done and what to expect. Two men arrived a few minutes after 8 am; prepped the job and worked through (with short lunch break) till the job was completed at about 3 pm. They used a fast drying, mega-hard material, which was reassuring and appreciated. The job went smoothly and results were perfect. They did a thorough job, very professional. The owner also went to the trouble of matching the existing stucco color.

Brad Migneault is true craftsman and professional. He is prompt, clean and very pleasant to deal with. I wish I had him involved when I originally cut openings and framed out the new windows. They did straight cuts in the stucco instead of chipping out the old stucco and retaining the paper and wire. Brad took great care in installing new wire and moisture membrane and making the patch blend very well with the rest of the wall. I had about 10 vents and 2 access screens to the crawlspace which were 20 to 50 years old and had been painted numerous times and looked horrible. Brad did a great job in removing the old vents and installing new vents and access portals which are flush to the surface, properly adhered with stucco and blend in nicely to the wall. Brad also brought an associate in to do drywall and window casing which went very well too. I plan to call B & J for any stucco or plaster work in the future!!!
Description of Work: Patched stucco around two windows which had been cut and framed by another individual and installed by a window company. Broke out old crawlspace vents and crawlspace access points and installed new vents and access point with a stucco finish around them blending into the old stucco. Scraped and resurfaced where old stucco had existed. Finished interior wall where a wall heater had been removed.

Brad explained that it would be 3 working day project, with breaks in between the coats. The whole process took about 10 days, and the end-result was fantastic. Brad and his grandson did a spectacular job, and the garage flows seamlessly into the rest of the house. They were professional, on-time, and cleaned up after themselves. Brad even drove 30 minutes to our house on demo day to make sure everything was going well. Highly recommended.
Description of Work: Our attached 2-car garage was the only stucco-less part of our home's exterior, and ever since we moved in, we'd been eyeballing the garage's deteriorating wood siding. We decided that demoing the siding, and have stucco installed to match the rest of the house would be an excellent investment in curb appeal. We decided that we would do the demo ourselves, and took a few bids on the stucco work. Brad's was the lowest bid, and coupled with his stellar reviews on Angie's List, we accepted it.

Brad came by to do an estimate for repairing several holes left after electrical and plumbing refits. When he saw the size of the job, he just did it on the spot for $100. I'm sure it would have taken me all day to do a far inferior job, and he matched the texture perfectly. He was also very professional and personable -- very easy to work with. I won't hesitate to call him in the future.

Brad was friendly, punctual, professional, helpful, and reasonable from start to finish. He returned my phone call for an estimate same day, came out the next, and went to work shortly after I told him I was ready for him to start. The work performed is superior, with great attention to detail. He is also an overall nice person to talk to, and I will definitely be using him in the future for all my plaster and stucco needs. I find no reason for anyone to use anyone else. Brad is at the top of his game and will prove it to you!

I called Brad of B&J Plastering after almost all of the lathe and plaster had to be removed from my living room following an upstairs water heater leak. He called back right away, scheduled a time to come out to look at the job and give a rough estimate. After the first visit, more plaster had to be removed because of moisture. Brad kept in touch and returned again to measure the job. He first patched a ceiling that was damaged by a roof leak, patched all the wall cracks throughout the house, and drywalled an upstairs closet that had been damaged by the leak. He also coated a damaged wall that had pealing paint by scraping it and coating it with a glue-like substance so it is perfectly smooth and paint-ready. The living room is a large room with high vaulted ceilings and required 3 men to lathe and re-plaster, so Brad brought in two plaster contractor colleagues of his that have equal experience. The three of them did the lathe and plaster in 4 days. They covered everything with plastic and brought in scaffolding. The front door had to be removed each day for the work to proceed. Brad reinforced the front door with a wood frame that the demo people had removed. At the end of each work day, Brad cleaned up, vacuumed and cleared pathways through the scaffolding so we could walk through. Each night, Brad called with an update about what was done that day and what would be accomplished the next day, start times, etc. He was always punctual and did exactly what he said he was going to do. The result is absolutely beautiful. I have had areas of my ceilings and walls in other rooms replastered in the past; Brad's work is superior by far, and I am very picky about the plaster work in my house. The ceiling and walls are perfectly smooth and symmetrical which is especially difficult to achieve in arched ceilings and arched openings between rooms. Brad called after the job was done to see if I was happy and offered both on the telephone and in an email to come out and fix anything that I'm not happy with.
Description of Work: Re-plastered living room, patched numerous cracks and damaged ceilings all over house, caulked around built-in outdoor brick barbecue that was leaking, drywalled closet.

I met Brad last year, when we were in the middle or a remodeling project. He gave an estimate for patching some very noticeable cracks and uneven sections of ceiling in a room that was not being remodeled. He told us joint tape, although an industry standard and used by many, many builders and contractors, is not the right way to repair plaster walls, or join them to drywall. We wish our contractor would have listened - he actually laughed at us - but we didn't have anything specific written in our contract with him. Not a mistake we'll be repeating... Our contractor actually went ahead and repaired the areas that Brad bid on, and we didn't realize it until after the work had been done. Brad suggested that if it looked ok, we should address if it began to "show" later. A few months later, after the rains, we did start to get a few large, very unsightly cracks, and some small ones. I contacted Brad and he got back to me super quickly. Since he had already been to the house and gave us a bid, we went ahead and scheduled an appointment. He patched the cracks with an elastic compound which will hopefully move with the walls/ceiling as they settle in the future, so if we do have more cracks in the future, I think it will be more a testament of the limits of the types of products out there and circumstances of an older home. He is punctual, professional, and shoots from the hip! And he's just a genuinely nice person. Definitely knows his plaster and it would be wise to take his advice. If you're thinking of doing something with plaster walls or remodeling in the future, it might be good to ask for a consultation before you make a deal with your contractor. Thank you, Brad!
Description of Work: The house has some settling, which will probably continue to happen, and cracks have been appearing. Some of the cracks are minor, while others are very noticeable due to joint tape having been used by our contractor.

Everything went very smoothly and the patch appears nicely done. I called before the plumber did his work; Brad stopped by briefly to make an estimate, and two days later he came by and did the work, in 2-3 hours. He impressed me as a very straightforward, direct, honest person.

Brad was extremely pleasant and helpful. His price was cheaper than we anticipated, and he even patched up some rough spots on a brick step outside for us, above and beyond what we contracted him to do. Brad came out for the initial evaluation, and gave us some advice of things the door installer (from Home Depot) did incorrectly. He was honest and said, "I can do this, but I think you want to try and get the door installer to fix these issues..." Secondly, he was very quick and responsive by email. On the day of, he showed up right on time, and completed the job as promised. Lastly, his professional demeanor and attitude were a breath of fresh air. My wife was home with our infant son, and he even helped her bring groceries in from the car. That level of courtesy extended to all aspects of his service and was greatly appreciated.
Description of Work: Had a new front-door put in (by Home Depot), and needed plastering on the outside and inside of the doorway. This is a home in the Historic district of Long Beach, built in 1928, so the outside is a rough plaster, and the inside is plaster and lathe.
