I needed them to do the work on Veteran's Day because we would already be closed. It wasn't easy for them to fit these dates into their existing schedule but Andy found a way to make it work and understood the importance of showing up and making sure the school could reopen by Monday. The work they did was excellent.
Description of Work: Andy and his crew did a complete new re-roof on my preschool. It has a flat roof and was a complicated job but they did everything to accommodate my difficult schedule, including working over the weekend to minimize the closures. Andy and his crew were excellent and I would recommend him to everyone....but with the pending El Ninos, he, like all roofers now, are almost impossible to schedule.

They did they estimate and then disappeared. We asked for clarification on some things and said we'd like to schedule. They would not return phone calls or emails. When I would get Rick the Roofer on the phone he'd say someone else will take my call/email. After calling/emailing at least 10 times and getting the run around, we decided to move on. Every time I called, I got a different answer from a different person. They were not working together and Rick was very unprofessional and sometimes rude when we talked. Spending this much money on a project when people cannot return calls or explain the estimate is foolish. We moved on.

After 3 tries be email and 2 phone calls, I was finally able to get an appointment for someone to come out and give me a bid. Then on the day they were supposed to come, they called a few hours in advance and told me they were too tired to come to our 5pm appointment, but that they would stop by the next day while I was at work. Two weeks later I hadn't heard back from ANR, so I called them to see if the bid was ready or if they even inpsected my property. They told me they would call their field rep and get back to me. They never got back to me. Trying to do business with ANR was a complete waste of my time and effort.

We had new single roof installed and it was ANR Roofing who did a satisfactory installation. The quality of the work was pleasing beyond anything we have expected. ANR sent a crew who worked hard for several hours ? beginning at 8 and ending before 5. They never quit, even though the sun?s rays were pelting h****** them. Heard no complaints from them and only saw them work diligently. Once they were done with their work, they immediately cleaned up after themselves. They even offered to take the old roofing with them and this saved us the hassle of taking care of our old roofing. ANR wasn?t the cheapest roofer but they weren?t the most expensive as well. We chose them because Andy, the project manager, was a great lady to work with.

RUN don't walk away from this company. They tell you one thing and put another in their contract. They are not professional. Very shady company. Their salesman Rick strung us along with assurances that all of our needs would be met. When the original contract did not cover what it was suppose to he told us not to worry they would get us out a new corrected contract. Every week we were assured the contract was coming and not to worry about a thing. Two weeks prior to the start date that Rick had given us we still did not have a contract. I called and was told they did not want to do our roof after all. Are you kidding me. They said something about the date we wanted was not convient for them. Keep in mind Rick the salesman gave us the date. I think it had more to do with their shady contract we would not sign. It will now take weeks to find another roofer to fit us into their busy schedules. ANR's bid was not the lowest one we received or the highest. I chose them because they had good reviews on Angies List. BE WARNED, DON'T USE THIS SHADY COMPANY.

We would like to thank all angieslist members for your continued support. I would like to also thank this member for allowing us to bid on her project and wish them the best moving forward. We were negotiating terms. We tried to schedule but the date was not available. When we receive a contract and deposit than we will place you on our schedule. It is not fair to others, we process in the order received. Our contracts will protect you and my company. Our legal team advised us not to make any changes as requested by this member. El nino is here and all us GOOD CONTRACTORS HAVE A BACK LOG. Lock in with a good roofer quickly as the backlog gets longer and than you will need to go with a shady roofer. Do your due diligence check online for history records on other contractors. Check to see how many jobs they have completed. If you look at our history 99.5 percent of our negative reports are from members who went with other contractors. I would love to see what grade these members gave the other contractors who gave ANR Roofing "F"s. What do you think? What do you think Angie?

Attached is the email history and evidence of Ricardo's lack of ability to do what he promised. After I sent him this email, he insisted "the numbers and information are correct", he refused to adjust anything on the proposal (which has consistently included mistakes and omissions) and said he would prefer not to work with me... Due to a "difference in opinion". Square footage and linear footage is not an "opinion", it is very easily measurable. I gave Ricardo an opportunity to make things right in the bid, to legitimately re-measure the roof, etc, if it was an honest mistake, and he chose to wholly dismiss me.... WOW. P.S. The roof has been measured now. It is very close to 1260 sq ft... No where near the 1800 sq ft Ricardo insists is "correct". My experience with this company is that they grossly overcharge for supplies, and then keep unused materials for themselves. Is that even legal? I am all for businesses making a living, but I don't agree with being misled, lied to, and then dismissed out of the blue -- because I asked for an honest bid, or maybe because someone was unwilling to admit a mistake? I understand adding a reasonable amount of extra supplies, to cover for mishaps, but adding 540 sq ft on a 1260 sq ft roof is excessive... Almost half of the whole roof size?? Overall, not good business practice. Another note: All of the emails and conversations between Ricardo & myself end up feeling very ineffective when the proposal does not reflect what has been discussed, nor what has been promised in writing, via email. A company needs to be able to provide what they promise in a clearly laid-out and accurate bid... That is not too much to ask... Exactly for the reasons that this experience illuminates. To be clear this company told me they could not work with me, after I asked questions about their bid. I had no other company in mind to do the work when ANR "fired" me, out of the blue. I have since been working to find another company to do the job ANR said they could do, and then bailed on. Email history: Hi Ricardo, Thank you! However, I don't understand your new price? The proposal you sent me on June 11th was for $13,420, plus $935 for gutters. That's $14,355. The previous quote you gave me, after I told you I wanted the gutters was $15,740 (emails attached below)? I asked you more than once to make sure the math was correct and you assured me it was... I just sat down & did all the math on the materials myself, for an 1800 sq ft roof -- knowing you will need about 56 pieces of 2inch polyiso board, and about 56 pieces of 7/16 plywood... This is if I understand that you will be applying one layer of plywood, then one layer of polyiso board, and then the shingles on top? Which is what I thought we spoke of... Though your quote says you are installing plywood over the polyiso board? I don't understand, which is correct? In any case, if your new bid is $16675, it appears you are charging almost $1000 extra dollars in labor, for what is probably only 2-3 hours of extra work, depending on how many workers you have -- to install one layer of 2inch polyiso board? I do not understand. Also, your pdf does not include gutters, insulation, or fascia board boxes being checked, which I think they should be, right? In the gutter section, I'm not sure what "80" refers to (linear feet?), but you said you would be doing 105 feet of gutters via email. You also said you would change the drip edge -- i believe to 2x4 instead of 2x2? I thought this was clear, but I guess it was not: I also need the square footage of shingles (and also polyiso board) included in the pdf/proposal in order to get the rebate from LADWP. They pay specifically based on square footage. My house is 35' long. Your quote says there is 80' of fascia board (40' on the front of the house & 40' on the back). If that is the case, than the square footage of my roof is actually 1400 square feet... not 1800. I'm sorry I didn't catch that sooner, and it does make me question your math all over once again... In fact, the "pop-outs" lessen the square footage further. The larger pop-out is 13' (at most) from roof peak to drip edge, by about 10'. That's roughly 70 feet less right there (20' - 13' = 7', 7' x 10' = 70')... So now we're looking at more like 1340 square feet, without even deducting for the bathroom pop-out, if applicable. In any case, asking me to pay for 400 extra square feet of shingles, plywood, and isoboard, when you told me you do not return money for any unused materials seems dishonest. Especially given that that's (at the very least) $600 dollars in materials you are overcharging. Please let me know your thoughts, and if the roof is 1400 square feet (or less, as it seems to be), please adjust the whole quote accordingly. Thank you, Kristen Hello, Yes, with ISO board you would use 7/16? OSB plywood instead of the Radiant Barrier plywood and the metal edge would increase depending on the size of ISO board installed. The pricing is below for your review. 1? ISO board with 7/16? OSB Plywood (R6 value) Price: $15,020 1.5? ISO board with 7/16? OSB Plywood (R9 value) Price: $15,260 2? ISO board with 7/16? OSB Plywood (R13 value) Price: $15,740 The prices above are the total price since everything else would remain the same. The only thing that would change is the size of the metal edge. Please let me know your thoughts. With the ISO board does that mean we'd use regular plywood? I guess if it is adding several inches that will also affect your size of drip edges/boards on the sides of the house as well... Another question: What do you think and/or would it be an option to do a plywood that has the foam insulation attached to it (as opposed to just radiant barrier plywood)? Or however it works -- the foam (R-20 /R-30 -- or whatever the code is? then the plywood, then the roof?). Something like this? http://www.greenbuildingadvisor.com/articles/dept/musings/how-install-rigid-foam-top-roof-sheathing I am obviously not an expert! I just had an old contractor friend over for his opinion about the ceiling situation (he did my whole outside patio area several years ago & helped with the foundation of the house being re-done)... He said that the plywood-foam combo is what he would recommend, since I will not be doing any drywall or ceiling finishing for at least a year or two upstairs -- until I have the electric for the house re-done & the money saved, etc. He also thinks that if I can afford it, it would be good to have the gutters as you suggest. Thank you, Kristen On Jun 11, 2015, at 4:33 PM, Ricardo Gutierrez wrote: Hello, Good questions. Yes we will be adding gutters and downspouts to both sides of the house including the lower sloped areas. Unless you don't want them I can adjust the estimate. It is best to put gutters and downspouts where water is going to flow off the roof. Lastly, I did not see anything about the power lines that was out of the ordinary. We should be able seal around them without an issue. Ricardo Sent from my iPad On Jun 11, 2015, at 4:15 PM, kristen wrote: Hi Ricardo, Thank you! The house is about 35 feet by 25 feet dimensions in total. Also, a question I forgot to ask: There are some power lines that connect to my roof in a few places. Your guys are equipped to handle that? THANK YOU ANGIESLIST MEMBERS FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT. The "F" grades we have received come from people who chose another contractor. It would be nice to track those peolple to see what grade they earned. Maybe Angie should let us know since it is so easy to give out these failing grades. For those of you which have made us your contractor of choice I would like to take the time to welcome you into the family of satisfied customers! Just because you pay us the final payment does not mean we disappear. We are a family owned business and 2nd generation roofers. We treat everyone fair and try to give everyone the best price possible. We get it. We know you can find a cheaper contractor. We do what we say we are going to do. We have demonstrated that and we will continue to do so as long as I am alive. I have found that many people have gotten abused by bad contractors. We are not those guys. Our track record says otherwise. This was a very difficult job and the price quoted was absolutely fair. I would like to personally thank you for the opportunity to bid on your project. We do however wish you the best as you move forward in your quest for your roofing project. Here at ANR Roofing we try our best to help prospective clients with a competitive price that makes sense to the client as well as our business. Below is a job scope of the project. Overall, the job went very well. The majority of the job was finished in a 6 day duration. The crew showed up every day and worked full days, except one day that threatened rain. A few minor items were completed over the next couple of weeks. The crew left the area clean every night, and except for an occasional nail here or there, we have not found much debris left from the job. We were shopping to replace our asphalt roof with another asphalt roof, and this contractor suggested a metal roof because we live just a few houses away from the national forest, and there is a history of large fires that have come down into the backyards of our neighbors. The metal roof looks great (photos attached), and we are very pleased with it.

The roof project involved several different pitches (slopes) and was completed in 3 days. Gutters were installed two days later. The first rain occurred the day following the roof installation with no leaks. A very heavy protracted rain, including hail, occurred 1 week later, again with no leaks. Thanks to the additional layer of attic insulation, we didn't even hear the thunderstorm raging outside. The employees were great. They worked very diligently, and were considerate to us and our neighbors by working nearly silently before 9 a.m. after 5 p.m. The price quoted was what we paid and City inspections passed without correction notices. They maintained a clean work area during the day and cleaned the site each evening. I would use ANR again but, with a good roof now and no plans to move, the roof will outlive me so I'm not a good candidate as a repeat customer. If you're looking for a quality roofing contractor, ANR should be at the top of your list.
Description of Work: ANR re-roofed our single family home (approx 1600 sf) and 2-car garage using asphalt shingles including tear off of the existing 3 layers of existing asphalt shingles and original base (from the 1930's), installed new plywood base, rain gutters and batt insulation in attic, and added more roof venting for proper air circulation within the attic.

Rick (Ricardo) came to inspect and give us an estimate for our roof. He sounded very knowledgable, but I don't know much about roofing, so I was a bit wary. After several other roofers not returning our calls (trying to compare prices), I decided to go with ANR Roofing since they were the only ones who took the time to meet us. I did a little bit of research online after Rick left. The type of roof we have is called a "torch down roof", as the name suggests, a torch (fire) is involved with putting down the roof. This made me very nervous, but the urgency of replacing the roof was conveyed well by Rick. Rick and his crew were always prompt and professional. What really amazed me about ANR Roofing is DOING EXACTLY WHAT THEY SAID THEY WOULD FOR THE PRICE THEY QUOTED. I cannot emphasize enough how important and RARE this is. I kept telling my wife that I wished all our contractors (or any really) were like this. I cannot recommend these guys enough! I gave them a price="C" because the price they quoted was completely fair. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR, and ANR Roofing prices are for quality and professionalism. Honestly, being upfront with cost and spending money on these guys will save you money in the long run. And the icing on the cake is when I had a ductless AC unit installed on the roof, ANR came out and resealed the area around the unit for a small fee. ANR Roofing is great. I wish every one of my contractors were like these guys. I can't recommend them enough.

Of the three companies we met with we chose ANR because they were so knowledgable of all kinds of building and roofing material on the market today and were great resource while I was researching roofing materials online. They helped us decide what was best for our needs and budget and even through they were not the lowest bid, we liked the professionalism and honest assessments of what we needed to do. They were always very patient with all our questions and changes. After we signed our contract we had to wait for the weather to make sure we had three consecutive days without rain. When they called to say the forecast was good for three days, they came the next day and with a crew of at least five. They removed the old roof, put up the substructure in day one, and were back the next two days working away. Every evening they cleaned up after themselves so that when I got home from work, I hardly noticed they were there. It was so easy and stress free. They did a beautiful job, we are very pleased with the quality, and professional service. I would recommend them to any one.

Andy and his team did a great job. I appreciated his flexibility and honesty about our roofing job, and also that he is a local business in Eagle Rock. The cost was reasonable, and I was very thankful he told me what my least and most expensive options were.

They came out to look at the job the same day I called (I live nearby) and then emailed me a price the next day. The estimator explained in detail how they would solve the problem. I was extremely pleased by the attentive customer service - the girl in the office, the workers, the estimator. The workers cleaned up and were very polite. I would definitely use them again.
Description of Work: Fixed a very leaky "hog valley" where two downsloping roofs meet. It had not been done correctly from the beginning, but with the last big rain it was a mess.

Done promptly. Almost no mess left behind. Very neat. All my neighbors are asking for ANR's name because they like how our roof looks. You can't go wrong with these guys.

Super smooth. Our biggest concern was going to be the mess and damage to landscaping but the team was great and cleaned up well. No fatal damage to plants or hardscape. The new roof and gutters perform as expected and we're super happy. The total job was completed in 4/5 days as promised.
Description of Work: Full tear off and re-roof including new decking and dry rot replacement for a 1910 bungalow style home. Tear-off included multiple layers of asphault shingle. Improvements included drip edging, gutters and improved attic ventilation.

There was nothing to dislike. He was prompt. He was friendly and since I was not able to follow-up by getting any other comparisons, I do not know if it ran high or if it ran low, but he was knowledgeable. He had his patience. He answered all my questions. He represented himself well. He seemed professional. He did try a couple of follow-up questions. He was informative on his e-mails. It was just unfortunately with signing and family circumstances, I was unable to go through with what I wanted to do with the roof at that time because my mother was ill and needed hospitalization. I hope to reach out to him again and get a re-estimate and contract to other people. We will just kind of see what goes from there, but it is good enough that I want to re-contact and kind of go from there again. There really was no service provided other than going up the roof, doing the inspection, and giving me a run-down.

I had a great experience with ANR roofing. They were responsive, prompt and finished ahead of schedule. Rick was very accommodating in scheduling my reroof even when I had to change our start date a few times. ANR came out with a huge crew of people getting the job done fast. They were also very good with the clean up. I would definitely recommend them. Thanks ANR!

They did a fantastic job, and came back later to fix a shingle that had come loose. I got quotes from 3 or 4 roofers, and though their price was comparable to at least one other roofer (it was less than the others), I chose them because I was confident they would do a fantastic job and I was right. Rick was great to work with and I love my new roof.

s Company came in with lower bid, so we asked to do the work. However, after they took old roof off they claimed that we needed over $1,000 in new plywood to replace the old plywood deck under the shingles. These additional charges meant that we paid more for their work than we would have with the other contractor bids. It definitely seemed like they were upselling us in the middle of the job, when it is difficult to not accept the new charges and/or change to a new contractor. If you choose this contractor, be sure to ask them about their contract, and make sure to discuss possible extra charges during the work--such as wood costs for plywood decking--that they may not include in the original bid and contract. The original contract did not mention extra costs for wood decking, even though they said this is a common charge that comes up while the work is being done in the middle of the job. AFter the work was completed and we paid them, they did not provide us with a receipt for our payment and we had to request it multiple times and finally drove to their office to get the receipt. We also noticed that within about 6 months of the work being completed the paint that they had applied to the different roof vents and pipes and around the chimney flashing was peeling off. This probably means that they used less expensive paint than what was required to withstand the summer heat on the metal fixtures. Overall the roof seems to be doing fine some 2 years after the work was done, but the paint continues to peel off of the metal vents and pipes. They did complete the work on schedule as they promised, but we were not happy with the surprise extra $1,000 expense for the plywood decking or with the quality of work they did on the metal vents and pipes.
Description of Work: Removed old roof and put new roof onto house and garage.
