Andy, Ruben, Deliah and the guys who actually performed the work did a very nice job. Pinpointing the arrival time every day could have been a bit more accurate ("they will show up between 7:30 and 8:30") when they would usually make it closer to 9AM. They were very attentive and answered all of my questions, returned my calls and left a neat orderly work site every day. Overall they seem like nice hard working people with a well run family business.
Description of Work: Removed pitched section of my roof (approx. 1200') put in new flashing, new plywood, new shingles. Also installed coating on flat section of roof that I had re-roofed a few years ago.

I left a live message to call back since they were booked because of the rainstorm. She called back a few days later to appologize because they were still booked and would call at the beginning of the next week. They didn't call at the beggining of the week so I called them back. The person who answered the phone stated that she didn't see any notes that I called previously but perhaps the estimators took it with them. I left my phone number again and she stated that she would question the estimators. Someone named Ruben called back and stated that he couldn't get back with me, but would call a few days later and also stated if he didn't call that I should call him and left his cell phone number. After waiting a couple of days I called his cell phone and I still haven't received a call back. I washed my hands of them and contacted another company on Angie's List.

Work started on the day I requested and was completed in 3 days, the estimated time given to me by ANR. They called if there was a delay in the arrival time of the work crew, which occurred one day when the truck broke down. Overall, the job went well. The inspector recommended that longer vent pipes be used, which was done; and he signed off on the inspection report when the work was completed.
Description of Work: Company was asked to fix a problem with the flat roof over the family room in the back of the house. Water would pool after the rains because it had no way to escape. ANR suggested adding a slope to the roof line to allow water to go into the gutter. The work required a permit, which the company obtained. It also required an inspection from the city, both before and after the work was completed.

It was easy to arrange for an appointment with Ruben for an estimate and when he was running late that day he called to let me know. He was very professional and courteous and when he sent me the proposal he included copies of the report from the BBB and the contractors state license. The job was completed in a timely manner but we will have to wait for a heavy rain to know the result although there is nothing to indicate that there will be a problem.

Well, this went very well! Andy, the owner came right out to give me an estimate. He came on time and spent time answering my many questions. He was very interested in doing a good job. I researched different products for my roof and got different estimates. I e-mailed back and forth to Andy/Ruben to get more data. Ruben answered me right away, every time. I decided to go with ANR because I checked with other referrals which also liked them and mostly because I felt that they wanted to do a good job. They stayed in communication with me. They came out to do the job when they said. They did it in the time they said. Manny, the foreman, really knew what he was doing. He transformed my garage from something that was very much in need of repair to a perfectly redone roof. It was artistic the way he did it. He knew exactly what he was doing on each step of the way. All the crew were great. Manual, Chris, Jose and some I didn't get their names. They all knew what they were doing and did it with a smile. Chris cleaned up the yard everyday. They used a magnet to pick up any loose nails. Swept and blew it clean. They made my roof look great! Today it rained. No leaks so far. When I paid Andy, he said that if there was any problem in the future that he would come and fix it. They have a five year warranty on labor.
Description of Work: I had my old roof taken off an a new one put back on. Had old garage roof taken off and new one done. Had solar fan, hatch and special vents put in my roof. Had new wood put around a deck perimeter.

On the phone, Rubin suggested the installation of a torch-down, granulated, roll roofing. After inspecting my garage-top patio, he suggested that I might not be happy with this kind of roofing. (This was a surprise, because I had already talked to several roofers that only suggested the roofing technique(s) that they perform.) I had a long discussion with him regarding other roofing alternatives. Rubin was very helpful and suggested alternatives that I would be able to perform myself. Rubin offered to perform the work at rate that was competitive with the other quotes that I received. However, I chose to perform the work myself.
Description of Work: Rubin provided an inspection and quote for replacement of my garage roof / garage-top-patio floor.

Overall I am happy with the service. Ruben could have easily told us we needed a whole new roof and we would not have known the difference - so we were impressed by his honesty and professionalism. They are also a local Eagle Rock business, so we like the idea of using a family business in the neighborhood. Now we just have to wait until it rains and see if the roof leaks or not!
Description of Work: We contacted ANR through their website and got a call back immediately to set up an appointment. We needed to have our roof inspected for repair and/or replacement. We were having issues with a small leak in the dining room and we also unsure about the overall condition/age of our existing roof. Ruben came out and inspected the roof and reported that the roof did not need replacing and said it was in pretty good shape. He suggested a roof "tune-up" which would consist of a thorough cleaning and resealing of the flashing (with special attention paid to the area above the dining room.) They were very accommodating and came to do the work on a Saturday -- it took a couple of hours to complete.

The completely stopped communicating. Two months into the process and waiting for a start date they never returned a phone call or email. They wasted two months of my time and the roofing manufacturers time. They are as unprofessional as you can get. I can only be grateful they didnt start the job. If they behave this way before the job, I cant imagine how bad it would be once they started.

I scheduled a site visit to reroof my house several days in advance. The day before the scheduled visit, it was cancelled by the ANR representative. After trading emails or voicemails (I forget which), I set up a subsequent meeting at 8 am on the following Monday. On Monday, I waited until 10 a.m. before I concluded that they were not going to show up. I received a call later that day (around 2 pm) from the company saying that the person who was going to show up was sick and did not come to work that day. I expressed my disappointment. The next day (Tuesday), I received a very nice and apologetic call from (I believe) the owner. He said that he would have another representative call me to set up a meeting the next day. The next day (Wednesday), I received a call saying that the representative wouldn't be willing to call me until the following day. The following day (Thursday) after 4:30 pm, the representative called me. I informed him that I had selected another company for the work. At that point it was over two weeks after I made my first inquiry to the company and two weeks after the originally scheduled meeting. I'd like to believe they do really good work. I just couldn't wait long enough to find out.

I left a message on the 7th and then called back to have them come today. They agreed to come at 2 o'clock today, and he showed up at 4:30. He brought a child a with him, and I told him I did not feel comfortable having the child up on my roof. He brought the child up on the roof to 'mentor' him on roofing work. The ladder is 20 feet high, and the child was around 14 years old. I thought it showed very poor judgment to allow him up on my roof. Had the child fallen off the roof, it would have been my responsibility. His failure to show up on time, coupled with his reckless endangerment of the child, guarantee that I will not be using this company for the work.

He's been climbing ladders, trees, anything and everything since he was 2 years old. While most kids stay at home some unsupervised, (mom and dad have to work) during the summer months. He comes to work to learn and earn the value of the dollar. Maybe he shouldn't go on the roof, I was not aware of this. I assure you that while anyone of my employees or family members are with me or my associates during business hours we will be responsible to provide coverage for our own... I am truly sorry to hear that we were not able to provide you with excellent service. I wish you the best as you move forward with your porch repair. Thank you for your concern I am not one to put any child in harms way...

It went very well, overall. There was a bit of a communication snafu after initially contacting them to set up an appointment for an estimate. This is an update to an earlier report I submitted on 12/5/07. After having them re-roof my entire home, then they came back and fixed the sloppy workmanship they left behind, I'm now dealing with a leaky roof. As of today, 12/15/08, they have been back out twice to fix the leak. The most recent time was last weekend. So after two attempts to repair the leak, I come home again today to find the leak on my front porch is still there, except now it has spread into my living room where the paint is now failing and I have a giant puddle of water on my hardwood floors. In the owner's response to my first submission, he said he let the previous workers go because their poor workmanship. I now wonder if he needs to do the same thing again. Now, they have to repair the exterior leak and also the inside leak. My advice - do not use the company. I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who is having bad experiences with them (as the owner hinted that sometimes it's just difficult to please all customers). I'm sure that if this were his home, he wouldn't be happy either. I get the impression that ANR is cutting corners and trying to minimize their out of pocket expenses for a job that should have been done correctly the first time. Now, they are going to have to put in more time and money. Update 3/21/09: Initially replaced entire roof. Then came back out to identify source of leak and repair interior ceiling damage. Update 3/21/09: I'd now like to give some credit where credit is due. ANR finally found the source of my leaking after multiple attempts. I have to give them good marks for coming out multiple times until the problem was resolved to my satisfaction. The owner helped explain to me that the new leaking that damaged my ceiling could have indirectly been related to the roofing replacement process - shaking, jarring, vibrations, etc. Only after the roofing job was completed, did water somehow manage to find it's way into my house through cracks between the foundation and damage my living room ceiling. However, they were nice enough to caulk up the areas of concern. In addition, he sent out an excellent handyman to repair my ceiling damage. The handyman was very courteous and did good work. The owner was true his word. He did what he said he would do to make me satisfied. People all make mistakes and bad things happen, and I'm glad to see that ANR did what they needed to do to make things right again.

AT ANR ROOFING WE USE THE HIGHEST GRADE ROOFING PRODUCTS IN THE INDUSTRY AND ADHERE TO THE INDUSTRY'S STANDARDS OF APPLICATIONS. OUR COMMITMENT TO ALL OUR CLIENTS IS OF UTMOST IMPORTANCE TO ME AND TO SATISFY THEM WITH A WORRY FREE ROOF. WE DO NOT CUT CORNERS NOR DO I USE INEXPERIENCED LABOR, ON THE CONTRARY THAT IS WHAT PUTS MY PROPOSALS A LITTLE HIGHER THEN MY COMPETITORS. I PAY TOP DOLLAR FOR EXPERIENCED INSTALLERS! THIS MEMBER HAS A VERY BUSY SCHEDULE MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO SCHEDULE APPOINTMENTS TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM QUICKLY. WE HAVE FOUND THE PROBLEM TO BE STRUCTURAL RELATED AND NOT ROOFING RELATED. WE MET WITH HIM PUT SOME WATER ON IT AND WERE ABLE TO CAUSE IT TO LEAK. I OFFERED TO HAVE THE CEILING REPAIRED AND ALSO WHAT NEEDED TO BE DONE TO PREVENT IT FROM LEAKING IN THE FUTURE. I HAVE AND ALWAYS WILL MAINTAIN A PROFESSIONAL COMMITMENT TO SOLVE ANY PROBLEMS THAT MAY ARISE FROM OUR WORK. HE RATED ME BEFORE I DON'T KNOW HOW MANY TIMES YOU CAN CHANGE YOUR RATINGS. IF YOU CAN CONTACT YOUR CONTRACTOR AND HE RESPONDS AND TAKES CARE OF YOUR QUESTIONS AND CONCERNS HE DESERVES AN "A" IN MY BOOK! I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING. We received several bids over a couple of months after a heavy rain showed severe leaking in our detached garage. ANR came in lowest of three bids received (two additional companies were non-responsive). But more importantly, all of the staff we spoke with beforehand kept saying all the things we wanted to hear without us asking. They especially wowed me by talking about "community," something that is very important to me. Some phone tag and delayed communications on both ends slowed the process down before agreeing to the contract, but once we decided on a date, all systems were go and ran extremely smoothly. Andy and his crew showed up on time, and had all of the work complete in one day, as promised. A couple of days later, Andy came back to check the work again, and decided to do a little extra for us on the house. Overall, this was an incredibly easy and painless process, and the entire crew was extremely easy to deal with. The final bill came in slightly higher than the estimate, only because of the extreme number of extra layers on the roof previously. But all of this was fully outlined in the estimate, and Andy even talked to both my wife (who was home) and myself (I was not) to make sure that we knew what was going on.
Description of Work: Old garage roof and all five layers removed. New flat roll garage roof installed.

He had the lowest price, nicest service, he did everything that he said in the contract, the work is perfect and I would highly recommend him. Roof was not asphalt shingle, but was a steel shingle (with stone coating) roof that mimicked my previous wood shake roof beautifully. The color of the shingle is beautiful, it's lightweight
Description of Work: He replaced the entire roof. The $38,000 ROOF was a high end, stone-coated steel shingle roof (fireproof, light in earthquakes) on a very steep, very large roof. The old shake roof and tar paper was entirely removed and carted away.

Scheduling the appoint was actually fairly easy. They told me that they do minor repairs for a flat fee of $350. My kitchen ceiling was leaking, and I was going away for the holidays, so I just wanted to get it done. They came out and took a look, and reported that part of the roof was installed incorrectly and had to be completely redone - the only thing they could do for a quick fix would be to put a tarp over that section of roof. I asked how long it would last, and they repeatedly told me that their quick fix would last through the rainy season, so that I would have some time to think about what to do and get some money together. It all sounded OK to me, so I let them go ahead. The next day, the workers didn't even knock, they just put the ladder up to the roof, did their business and then left. We didn't even know they had been there until we looked up and saw the clear plastic up there. 2 weeks later, we returned home from vacation and noticed that the tarp had blown up a bit, so we got up there and fixed it. A week later, about 1/2 of the tarp had blown off. It was secured with paint cans and small piles of shingles that were already on the roof. I can't help but think that a small child could have done a better job of securing the tarp. I asked ANR if they would come out to fix it, and they said "We usually secure the trap[tarp] with any significantly heavy such as paint cans, rocks or some sort of weight. The tarp is only a temporary bandage and is really only good for the storm at hand when it is installed." Well that's not what they told me REPEATEDLY. They said it would last through the rainy season. They have called on average 2 times per week for the last several weeks despite the fact that I have told them many times that we cannot afford to pay $4800 at this time. There's no way after dealing with these people that I would want to hire them to complete the full job.
Description of Work: A tarp was installed over the back 1/3 of our roof (approximately 1200 sq. ft. home). An estimate was drawn up for the work it would take to complete the actual repair ($4,800 to reroof the back 1/3 of our roof. The price does not include any dryrot repair).

My friend recommended Mr. Chavez. Out of all the quotes I got this was my favorite because Mr. Chavez talked to us about the garage roof leaks/weaknesses as well. No one else seemed to notice. We had not moved into the house yet, so it was important that we get it ready as the rains came just after we did the repairs. He and his crew did a good job as far as I can tell. I also found Mr. Chavez to be a very kind and responsive person. Very easy to deal with. This is very important during the stress of moving and buying a new house.
Description of Work: Mr. Chavez replaced the roof on our house and garage with a new roof. We also had him put on a special white coating that keeps your house cool in the summer. He pulled off layers of old roof and put in tile, too. He coordinated with the solar energy installers as well.

I called to schedule an appointment. The secretary/receptionist told me someone would call me later to set up date for the estimate. I waited 2 days and received no call. I called back and spoke to the owner, Andy. He stated there was no record of me calling and apologized. He scheduled an appointment for the following Saturday at 8:00 a.m. No one showed up and no one called!! I called that same day to inform him. Thinking the office was closed I left my work number for the call back. I received his message on Monday asking me to call back. I called back to find out what happened. He didn't know. Andy apologized, again, and said that is not the way he does business, and he would "PERSONALLY" take care of the matter. He told me he would call me at the end of the week (Friday) to schedule another appointment. Friday came and went and he never called. I gave him an extra day and then called him back on Tuesday at 8:15 a.m. The secretary/receptionist said he was in a meeting and would give him my message. I called 2 hours later and was told he was still not available. I waited until approximately noon, still no call back. I called back and was told he was not out of the office. So needless to say, that IS the way he does business. His lack of common courtesy in not calling back as he promised, the rudeness of not keeping a schedule appointment after having me wake up early, out of my sleep, on my day off, just to sit around and wait for no show up, and then not even bothering to call to let me know I could stop waiting, is totally unacceptable! At the time of this report, I still have not receive the promised call that he was going to "PERSONALLY" take care. He could have at least had the secretary/receptionist call me to acknowledge that he would call me back after he took are of whatever pressing matter that lead him to ignore my calls. But that would have been too much like RIGHT.
Description of Work: Absolutely nothing.

No problems-they did exactly what we discussed and it was a nice, clean job.
Description of Work: Reinstalled flashing around chimney and along another wall by scoring a line and inserting the flashing, and reseting clay tiles. Andy was very helpful in answering questions and explaining the options(and some months later on provided some helpful advice on a different topic).
