We called the ANR roofing company phone number office in Eagle Rock and made arrangements for them to provide an estimate. The company representative (and installer) who contacted us was a man named Gerry Kelly who had my wife sign an ANR identified contract to do the job. He gave us a resonable price, asked for 1/2 payment in cash to buy materials and 1/2 when the job was finished. He and another man installed the roof in a timely and professional manner and it looked great. Several weeks later it rained and the roof leaked (late Feb. or early March). I called ANR roofing to complain and they told me that Mr. Kelly was doing the work as a private job and that I should contact him directly. I finally managed to reach his wife at a phone number he provided on the bottom of the ANR contract. She told me that Mr. Kelly was dealing with a family emergency, that she would contact him and he would get back to me. He called a few days later and I explained the problem and he said he would have someone come out an fix the leaking problem. A week or two later a man possibly named Octavio called and made arrangements to fix the problems with the roof. He came out and instead of making things better he proceeded to cut off support beams for the deck roof to add a pitch. This damaged the deck, changed its appearance and to add insult to injury the deck roof still leaked the next time it rained. I had agreed to pay extra for the materials for this repair based on information provided by Mr. Kelly or his wife, Susan. When I saw the mess my deck was in I refused to pay until the issues were resolved. Repeated attempts to call Kelly's phone were unsucessful so I finally tried to discuss the matter with ANR directly. ANR sent over a company reprentative who took pictures of my damaged deck roof (Mr. Urgate). He again stated that Kelly was doing our job as a private job but said he would relay a report to ANR. Then he sent an email saying I should deal with a Ms. Zavala at ANR directly about this issue. She maintained that ANR knew nothing about our job and had no record of it and asked that I provide her with documents to substantiate my claim on the company. I sent them copies of the signed contract from ANR roofing but decided not to provide them with a copy of my canceled check used to pay for this job since I began to suspect that this company may be a fraud. Next I received a letter from Mr. M. Weinberg stating that he was a legal representative of ANR roofing. Essentially, he tried to absolve ANR of any responsibility for my botched roofing job and stated that Mr. Kelly "ceased working for our client prior to perfoming work at your residence". He claimed that Kelly was fradulently representing ANR. I think this written statement may be less than truthful since Mr. Kelly appeared at our home only after we called ANR directly. Also, when we called ANR several weeks after the original work, the person who answered the phone clearly stated that Kelly was doing are job as a "private job" and said to contact him directly. ANR apparently feels threatened by my complaints and thus has contacted their lawyer to deal with me. They have not directly answered my questions about company policy or practice to have employees do "private" work while clearly repretsenting the company. My direct dealings with representatives of this company have been mixed. Some are satisfactory but now things have deteriorated and their lawyer has denied my request that ANR repair the damage their company representative did to my deck. I would not recommend this company since I honestly believe they are either fradulent or trying to cover up a fraud perpetrated on them by saying it is now only my problem. I hope pressure from Angie's list can help resolve the situation. I have numerous email and written communications and copies of the contracts my wife signed as well as a signed receipt from Mr. Kelly when he did the work and I can gladly supply these to Angie's list if necessary.
Description of Work: Installed a plastic roof on our redwood deck to replace one blown away in a wind storm. Returned to repair a leaky roof after a rain storm and damaged the support beams and changed the structure of or deck roof. We contacted this roofing company based entirely on positive Angie's list reviews.

ANR Roofing had the cheapest price and they were most responsive to my phone calls and questions. My next door neighbor, who is a retired contractor, said that ANR roofing did excellent job on my roof. My neighbor watched the whole job from his second story window was impressed. During the job, I lost power from air my conditioning unit and ANR roofing had electrician out to fix the problem, at no charge to me, that afternoon. Also i over paid by eighty dollars and they had a check for that amount back to me beore I even noticed the over payment.Great clean up when the job was complete. The people at ANR roofing are pros and made the job a quick and painless experience. I recommend their work.
Description of Work: My roof began leaking this winter. The roof was at least twenty years old and had three layers of shingles on it. I needed to have the old roof torn off and new plywood and shingles put on.

ANR sent Javier to give us an estimate on replacing our flat roof, which had been leaking in several places. Javier gave us several options for the types of roof that could be installed, including a PVC membrane roof and a modified torch-down roofing system. In contrast to some of the other companies that gave us estimates, Javier seemed familiar with the advantages and disadvantages of each system. Although ANR did not give us the lowest estimate, they offered the best warranty on the workmanship (10 year vs 3-5 for the other companies). After signing our contract, the work was scheduled and started incredibly quickly. Although we were told that the process would take 3 days, it did end up taking about a week to complete, as we ran into some issues along the way. First, after tear off of the roof, there was some substantial wood rot identified along our patio roof, and this required replacement and restructuring of a large portion of the area. We also had more wood damage in the garage than was estimated. This added a substantial cost to the project. Second, we had some 'surprise' rain on the fourth day of the project, which slowed down the process. Third, after installation of the clay tiles along the parapet walls, we were not enthusiastic about the quality of the workmanship (the placement of the tiles was poor, so you could see the underlying roofing, and the tiles weren't spaced correctly). So the tiles had to be reinstalled, which took an additional day. They also had to come on another day to install the downspouts from the scuppers. Overall, we feel like the roof that was installed will last well, and is a good product, but we were a little disappointed with how long the project took, and the end cost, which was over $2000 over our initial estimate. We do understand that the wood damage was not something that was entirely predictable (although we were told that it was highly unlikely that we would run into this issue during the estimate process). We were also unable to reuse the clay tiles (which we were told would be possible), which added some additional cost to the project as well. As positives, the project manager through the project was responsive, professional, and easy to get in touch with during the installation. He did address the concerns we had about the tile placement quickly, and had them replaced correctly the next day.
Description of Work: Replaced a flat roof on our ~1300 sq ft house (Spanish bungalow built in 1928) and 2-car garage with a modified torch down roofing system and an energy cap layer. Repaired damaged wood on main house, garage and front patio roof, replaced clay tiles along edge of roof. Enlarged scuppers and replaced drains on garage and patio.

I have used ANR before and was pleased. This time they refused to come out for a minor repair job to my roof without a $750. service charge. I noted that this seems to be common (3 other roofers told me the same thing). With ANR, though, I am a returning customer. I was told that this its just not worth their while to come out for small jobs. I find this an unacceptable attitude towards customer service.

Response from ANR Roofing
Hi Member, We appreciate your feedback and are sorry you feel our pricing was out of range for your repair. I reviewed your file and feel the pricing was honest and fair for the scope of work involved. What you see as a "minor repair" involves difficulty and risk to my technicians, this is a risk we were not willing to take for the amount you were looking to pay. Your garage is a 12/12" slope with difficult access on both sides. In order to properly repair the 2 holes we would need to strap our technician onto your roof to avoid falling or injury. This process is tedious and takes time. If your garage was easy to access like most and did not have this pitch or access issue the pricing you requested would be more inline. Though I always look to earn clients and especially previous clients business, I have learned as a business owner know when to take on jobs and when to walk away. I hope you understand we our a growing firm and strive to do whats right in order to do that we need to charge accordingly. Best wishes I hope we can earn your business again in the future.

We contacted ANR Roofing in a panic because of a leak from our roof into the family room during a recent heavy rain. Although he was sick, Ruben (the Regional Sales manager) responded by phoning within an hour to schedule an appointment. He explained he couldn't assess the situation that day (due to heavy rain) but promised to schedule an appointment by the next business day. He promptly sent a follow-up email confirming our appointment. As promised, he arrived the next business day on time to review the damage. I was immediately impressed by his professionalism when he encountered another roofing company reviewing the damage at the same time. Ruben introduced himself to the two gentlemen and proceeded with his review of the roof. After careful review, Ruben determined we didn't need his services and that the problem could be remedied ourselves or by a handyman. The issue was due to a faulty DirecTV satellite install whereby cinder blocks were put in place to stabilize the satellite. He explained the weight of the cinder blocks created a "pond" on the roof and recommended we simply remove the 100lbs + cinder blocks. He also suggested we apply a sealant to protect the tiles and gave us information on where to go and who to contact for the materials. Based solely on my interaction with Ruben, I give ANR Roofing my highest recommendation. I hope he's still around when we have to replace our roof in a few more years.
Description of Work: We contacted ANR Roofing from Angie's List to obtain an estimate to repair a leak in our roof. Based on Ruben's recommendation (Regional Sales Manager), the problem was simple enough to do ourselves and did not require any work to be done by his company.

The work was completed a week after the estimate and was quite pleased with the results. The roofers arrived on time and the work was done in about four hours. Clean up was satisfactory and they even cleaned my gutters [although I have not checked]. It was a pleasure to work with Javier who was very professional and always returned my calls.
Description of Work: I had a leak in my roof between the enclosed patio and my dining room. Javier and Eli came out to check the roof and discovered the leak was coming from the area around the antennae. The flashing around it had deteriorated. Rain water was flowing down from the opening and collecting in the area of the dining room and patio where the roof flattens out. They also found the flashing around the chimney and air-conditioner was not in good shape and a hole in the shingles. They took pictures to show me the problems and said I did not need a new roof immediately. The recommendation was to check the roof in two to five years. I asked about a solar attic fan and they thought it was a good idea. Javier gave me a quote immediately of $1500 for two solar fans and repairs needed including new flashings around the antennae, chimney, and air-conditioner. They would paint the vents and clean the bird droppings on the roof. I accepted the bid after getting another estimate from a company that couldn't find the leak and recommended at least half a new roof.

They came to my home, we talked, and then they gave me an estimate. Andy, the owner, told me that he’d even throw in a few things for free, like the installation of skylights. A few weeks later, Andy told me that their building supplier increased the price of the building materials, so the estimate rose. I called the supplier of the building materials and found out that they did increase the price, but they were still keeping the previous price for a few months so the contractors could stick with their initial estimates. The new invoice showed the price increase for the building materials along with the items he told me that he’d throw in for free. I feel like he just doesn’t want to do business with me anymore, and I’ll go with a different company.

ANR Roofing did a great job. Gerry, the sales representative from ANR, came out to my home and was very professional and easy to work with. Ricardo, the project manager, was always available and helpful for any questions I had during the work. All the workers on the job were hard working and polite. ANR Roofing did quality work and they were extremely professional. They arrived on time every day and they always cleaned up after themselves. ANR Roofing even finished my job ahead of schedule. They made this entire process stress free for me. ANR Roofing did everything they promised. Pricing was competitive and they were focused on customer service. Everybody went out of their way to please the customer. I would recommend this company to all my friends and neighbors.

Unfortunately, this is the worst experience I've had with any company on Angie's list. Nice people but very disorganized. Should have trusted my gut and cancelled when I had trouble getting a response to my acceptance of their proposal. On the day the job was finally scheduled, noon came and went and no one had arrived or even called to tell me what was going on. I took off work to be home this day. They finally came but did most of the work the following day, very inconvenient. I've worked with a lot of different companies doing different projects and improvements on my house. This is the first time communication has been M.I.A. and I've had to literally demand to know when someone will show up to do the work. Ultimately, they were very apologetic and did a nice job but the leak is still there.

Thank you for taking the time to call us. During the wind storm there was a high volume of calls that came through our system. It was impossible for us to return the hundreds of calls that came through in a timely manner to all. We began to concentrate to our local area. I believe that this experience will help us grow into a better company. We are currently looking into software to help us better serve our community. Over all There are many people we have been able to help. We are also working feverishly with insurance companies to settle claims to the clients best interest and not the insurance company. We have been able to resolve for many clients whole re roofs where the insurance companys would settle for repairs. We are a hard working family business and yes some of you will fall by the wayside, but We will be better prepared the next time. Good luck as you move forward with your roofing project.

Hi angieslist members. We had a terrific response from you thank you. I apologize for not being able to service every single member that requests service. When we have acts of God such as high winds, earthquakes, storms, etc. we literally get hundreds of calls. We are honest, reliable, and for the most part have all our ducks in a row. We are going to miss a few but on the other hand we are hitting so many home runs. In a war there are many battles ANR has won all our battles. If you look close enough you will see that the people that give us F ratings are mad because they had to go with someone else. We were never able to communicate with them. Look at our Yelp page, BBB page. When we earn your business we satisfy and it is prevalent in our reputation as a contractor. We are always striving to better my firm! Thank you for bringing your concern to all of our attention. Good luck as you move forward with your project. CEO.
