Description of Work: I read his company Bio and it sounded really good. Family business for 25 years. Serving the Coachella valley and on and on about how great they are. So I called on a Thursday and they said that they would be out Friday at 1 pm. I waited and waited, and nobody showed, not even a phone call. I would never use this company.

Response from an
Hello Member, i am truly sorry for causing this inconvenience. During that time we had hired 2 new contractors, one which turned out to have very poor management skills. It’s unfortunate to say you were not the only one left waiting patiently that week. We grew aware of the problem all too late and tried to reach out to everyone. I can’t explain how upset it made me to receive a weekly note with 1/4 of this meetings unattained to. Needless to say he is no longer a part of D'Oros Constructions, and if there is anything we can do to make it up to you Member, please give us a call back and we'd be happy to reschedule. Even contractors make poor hiring decisions; i hope you can forgive our mistake.

Accomplished lowering front handicap ramp to be flush with driveway. Did good job with that part. Front deck was lengthened as requested, but fitting railings together was poorly done, leaving very visible gaps and slanted rails. Back ramp was reversed with steps as requested, but only lengthened it 36 inches instead of eight feet, leaving it well outside of ADA guidelines. Used greatly inferior materials on back ramp. Railing on lengthened portion of very poor quality wood, pitted, cracked, not rounded on edges to match existing rails. Paint was badly mismatched with original color. Had to hire a separate painter to do it properly.
Description of Work: Lower front handicapped ramp to be flush with driveway at bottom. Lengthen landing of front ramp. Reverse steps and ramp of back porch, doubling eight foot length of second ramp to 16 feet. Extend railings to match length of new back ramp. Paint all work railings.

Description of Work: Redesign and rebuild my porches and handicap ramps where previously, the original builder had failed to follow instructions and left them dysfunctional, dangerous and not to code. D'oros Construction was asked to fix what someone else had badly botched. 1. Reversed steps and handicap ramp on back porch, and extended that ramp to double it's previous length. (The original builder had ignored my instructions and built them to his liking, also ignoring the first rule of architecture--"Form follows Function." In doing so, he made the ramp so short, and so steep, it wasn't even close to the American's with Disabilities guidelines or local building codes. Being so steep, it was virtually useless in addition to being dangerous. In having the steps and ramp backwards, it also created a parking problem, where one of our two cars had to sit half-uncovered by the car port, and such that it maximized the distance I had to travel with my walker when I used it.) 2. Reconstructed main (front) ramp so it came in flush to driveway. (Previously, it was not flush, and had a poorly designed, very dangerous concrete slab to go from the ramp to the driveway. That slab was eliminated. I had already fallen off the edge with my scooter coming down on top of me, and for pedestrians, it was a broken ankle waiting to happen. Huge safety and liability issue.) Also, re-did the railings for both ramps and painted them. 3. Thirdly, at the top of the main ramp, the landing was expanded to allow for easier movement in and out of front door with my large, bulky mobility scooter. (Again, the original builder had ignored my instructions and built it so that I could not drive my scooter in and out. I had to push it in and out by hand, backing it up, moving it forward, repeating it a couple times, turning a little at a time until I finally had clearance. King of like parallel parking a huge Chevy Suburban SUV in a spot big enough for a Cooper Mini.) I had not been able to supervise the original builder as I was hospitalized while he was building. Nor could I go back to him for corrections. He died. So, it was left to D'Oros Construction to fix all that had been botched by somebody else.
