Description of Work: I email Ambrose Fence Company for my elderly mother to replace one panel of her chain link fence mashed down from a large tree branch during a windstorm. A few years ago Ambrose Fence Company put in a section of my father's fence. Did a good job. To date I never received a reply to my email. Maybe my mom's job is too small for them. Will try and call when I get a chance or contact another fencing company in the near future. Did notice someone wrote in 2015 Ambrose Fence Co. never called them back when they called them and left a message.

I emailed Gary Ambrose with basic information about what needed to be done. He called a couple of days later. With the information given to him, he quoted a price. He came out to look at the area and stuck by his quote. He scheduled a morning to do the work and completed it within a few hours. They did a nice job and left the area clean and neat.
Description of Work: Replaced damaged chain link fence damaged by fallen tree. Installed 19ft. of 5ft. high fence, top rail and one post on a slope. Removed and hauled away damaged fence and debris.

We requested an estimate about 9 months ago. Gary Ambrose was very prompt and very helpful with ways to handle our unique problems. So we scheduled the fencing. Unfortunately we had to cancel at the last minute. We called a few months later to reschedule. And once again we had to cancel at the last minute. I thought that Gary would never want to here from us again. But we called one more time and Gary was as polite as can be. The chain link fence was finished in three days. Gary's 2 co-workers were as knowledgeable as he was. Because of our backyard terrain there was a lot of problem solving to do. We are very happy with the job. Now we can let our dog out.
Description of Work: Put in a backyard fence. Very tough terrain.

The only small issue was in scheduling the estimate - there was a mix-up, so Gary missed the initial appointment and had to reschedule. He was very apologetic and came on the weekend at my convenience to do the estimate. He's a super nice and professional guy and the guys working for him all seem great. I got three estimates, and Gary's was the best. When they were scheduled to begin, they came on time and had people working on the fence daily for a week and a half. They made a special effort to keep the yard neat for my dogs and were incredibly considerate about doing the fence in sections so my dogs were always safe in the yard. The fence looks great and they did a really nice job on the gates as well. My dad was in town and apparently kicked in some carpentry work, so Gary took $300 off my bill, which he didn't have to do - I would have never known the difference. Also, there's a particularly tricky section of fence going down some stairs and I didn't like how it looked, so Gary and one of his guys came back and changed it for me at no extra cost. I just found them very easy to work with. They're very responsive and listen to what your needs are.
Description of Work: They built a redwood fence on two sides of my property, braced the existing fence in the back and built three gates.

They were very prompt and efficient and they were great. They didn't do retaining walls but they don't do that service so they did a great job with building the straight fence.
Description of Work: They came and built a fence around house. They didn't build retaining walls so I had to hire two new companies to do that. They did a great job on the straight fence, though.

Gary worked to conserve parts of the fence that were wholesome. He bid on the project late Friday afternoon and because I needed the work to be done immediately, he scheduled and completed the work the following Monday. I was very satisfied and I would use him again.
Description of Work: LAST OCTOBER 2007, Ambrose Fence Co replaced approximately 12' of new 6' high rough redwood dog-ear board fence and two posts & hauled off the damaged fence. An "unfenced" area was exposed when a large oak tree that had grown into my property line fell & had to be removed.

Initially I thought it went well. Gary came to check out the main problem with the aforementioned fence. I also asked him to give me a quote on a couple of other fencing projects that I had been considering. He gave me a verbal quote on fixing/rebuilding the fence - $2764 to build with redwood on one side only/$3942 to build with wood on both sides of fence (I think it was 72' long). My neighbor and I decided to use a different vendor to fix the fence rather than rebuild it. I called Gary to thank him for his time and tell him what our decision was on the repair. On the same message I also restated that I would like to have the quote on the two other projects that we discussed and for which he had taken measurements. Several weeks have gone by and he has not called me back. If he is too busy to give me a quote or whatever his situation is I feel that it is not professional to simply leave a potential customer hanging. I am answering N/A to many of the questions below because he was initially responsive, punctual and professional...but then later he was not. I answered that "yes" I would use this company again in the future, but I selected this answer because "not sure" is not an option as an answer to the question.
Description of Work: Gary came out to give a bid on the repair of a fence that had been blown off-center from wind storms. A fence between my property and my next door neighbors had been partially blown over. I am the one who facilitated getting different estimates together, but since my neighbor had agreed to share the cost of the fix the decision was a joint one. My neighbor and I ended up using another fence company to do a less expensive fix due to cost considerations

Gary came to our house on a Saturday, gave us the estimate on Sunday evening, and scheduled the work within the week. He arrived with two employees on the Friday morning, and had the old fence and most of the ivy gone, and the new poles set the same day. The following day they installed the new fence, and we finished about 2pm. It's a simple fence but it looks great and is strong also. Our lot backs onto a private lane that serves several houses. The ivy had been growing for years up a utility pole in the fenced-off corner of our lot. Although the power company had trimmed the ivy, they had never removed the lower part, which had stems as thick as my arms. Gary's crew not only cut this down, they dug up the root even though they could work around it. This was beyond what I had expected. Our back neighbor also likes our new fence and was very impressed with the speed of this job.
Description of Work: Removed old wood fence at rear of property, including overgrowth of ivy at one end. Installed 57 feet of new wooden fence on steel poles. Also removed metal fence dividing rear yard. Hauled away everything.

Showed up on time, friendly and courteous, three-man crew, including company owner, worked all day every day for a week, exceptional quality work, solid and well-crafted, cleaned up old fencing and construction debris, price as quoted. Offered to come back as often as need to "tune up" fence as it ages and warps, no charge.
Description of Work: Complete wood fence and two gates surrounding property, a Craftsman bungalow in Pasadena. About 130 linear feet of 6-foot rough redwood fence on steel posts.

Fantastic fence builder. Great crew. Very competitive bid. Fast, honest, I would highly recommend. Has come back a few times to repair a couple places where people have hit the fence and cracked some boards. Also has came back several times during rains to adjust for the large gates fluctuations in water weight.
Description of Work: Approximately 400 linear Redwood fence around a 2 parcel home. Portions of the fence are 12 feet off the ground. In addition, parts of the fence could NOT be attached to granite walls. They came up with a system of kick stands to support fence. Created several gates as well as a large gate for our cars.
