Affordable Tree Service

Louis answered my call and was pleasantly prompt to our appointment for an estimate. His estimate was higher than others, but he was willing to beat anyone's price, which he did. Danny and his crew were very professional and performed the tasks to my satisfaction. They seemed like nice people to boot. I would definitely use them again and would recommend them to friends.

Based on reviews, Affordable was one of our first calls. Louis picked up on the second ring and we set up an appointment for an hour and a half later. He showed up promptly and assessed the situation. He gave us an estimate that seemed very fair and said that there was a good chance that he could get a crew there that afternoon. After some deliberation we called him to accept his offer. His five man crew showed up a little after 3PM and promptly began work. They were methodical and very well organized. Louis called to tell me that, if they couldn't get the roots out that afternoon, that they would come back Monday to finish it. They did finish removing the tree and the roots. They did a great clean up and managed to restore one of the large plants that had been uprooted by the tree, My wife and I were very happy with their work. The things that really stood out were Louis' great communication and his crew's attention to detail. These folks are really good.

Excellent work for reasonable price. Louis listened carefully to what we wanted, and took note of our concerns relating to a sewer pipe going underneath our overgrown hedge. He made recommendations that not only was safer for our sewer line but saved us money. Tree trimming was well done and well balanced, with lots of sunlight now coming into our property. Clean up went very well too. Will hire again for seasonal tree trimming work.

Louis, the owner, came by and gave me an estimate to remove a queen palm tree. I needed it done quickly. He presented his references, his license and insurance. i was impressed - and one of his references was a close friend of mine. I called him and the other references - they gave me glowing references. I hired Louis - the work was done per our discussion, I am very satisfied.. BTW, neither Louis nor I was there when the tree was removed - Louis was on the phone with the crew and they were excellent. I was so confident, I did not visit the site until the next day. The property was so clean, I could not tell the tree had been removed. You cannot go wrong with Louis and Affordable Tree Service.

They were very polite, on time, came in exactly at their quote, and by the time they left were lined up for 2 more jobs from our neighbors!

It took a week to get a date for them to come out then they ended surprising us on a Saturday morning which was a few days before the actual work date. Luis (the owner) provided a $75 discount for waking us up and coming early. The team of 5 people (we never saw Luis again after the bid) did all the work in 2 hours and cleaned up our yard well of the leaves and twigs but not the area where they ground the stump. Lots of dirt on the walls and all over the planter beds but that wasn't as big of a deal as what came next. After a couple of days, our sprinklers kicked in and we found a really big issue. The stump grinder took out a large chunk of our sprinkler line. After digging in the stump area, we saw that there were chunks of PVC and a sprinkler head. We called Luis who said that his service did not cover replacing sprinklers that might get destroyed because of stump grinders because they can't know where they are. Well, first of all, my husband warned the stump grinder guy that there were sprinklers right where they were grinding and to be careful. Second, they must have seen the pieces of pipe rolling around in their grinder so they could have at least told us about it and not let us just find it days later in a pool of mud. So, if you have a job that requires stump grinding or work near your sprinklers, I suggest you do not use this company. The money we saved using them is lost because we have to get our sprinkler line replaced.

He did cleanup perfectly. He gave me free estimate. He is licensed, insured and bonded. They did a beautiful job; you would never know they were here. I am using him again; he is coming to trim a tree in the back yard.

We actually scheduled the service about two to three weeks after the original estimate because of my schedule, not because they weren't available. They showed on time without any disturbance. Louis was not present during the service but was clearly available by phone all day as we spoke at least twice and he definitely knew his team's progression. They worked quickly and cleanly and were responsive when I asked for a couple of the trees to be cut back a little more. It will take time to see if our trees grow back with a "framed" "landscaped" look. I was very please with this experience.

Louis Limon was extremely professional and courteous - as was his team of workers. He came over to give me an estimate shortly after my initial phone call, and the work was performed several weeks after that. Louis wasn't present while the work was being done, but he came over with his foreman in the morning before they got started, and the three of us went over the details of the job. A small tree next to our deck was inadvertently broken by one of the workman's ladders, but Louis came over after the work was done and staked it for us. He is very busy, but it was worth the wait! They all worked hard, and left our yard looking terrific.

Louis was very professional in every encounter both on e-mail, phone and in person. He knew his business and helped me in every way possible. After the work was completed, his men cleaned up perfectly and left my yard in pristine condition.

Louis and crew were great. He came promptly the first time I called, gave a fair estimate (even came down a little), then came back and did a great job. His crew came when promised, and finished right on time. I found the experience to be superior. Oh, and they cleaned up after themselves so my yard looked better than before they started!

We had a good experience. Our call was returned promptly and a bid given same day. We were given a date that was later than we needed for the work to be performed but when we said we needed something sooner, it was accommodated. Louis arrived at the time stated on the date of the tree removal and worked with our contractor to accommodate each others needs that day. Professional, courteous and fairly priced.

Work went very well. The crew was fast and did a great job. I needed to get this job done quickly because I was having the house tented over the weekend, and Mr. Limon came in right away to do it.

We needed to comply with LA Fire Code regulations and needed to raise canopy for 4 chinese elms at two locations, 2 of the trees are more than 45 years old. Those older trees were so big and wide, we had to use 2"x4"s to support some of the outstretching branches. I spoke with Louis, who scheduled an estimate for the next day. He met with my brother and then called to arrange another time to meet me at my convenience to go over what they had discussed. The trees have been maintained/shaped with great care by my grandfather since they were very small and we could not let just anyone trim them. Louis was sensitive to our concerns and after getting quotes from two other companies (asking lots more $), we all agreed that we trusted Louis the most. He raised the canopy on the 4 trees and removed about 5 other trees, one of which was more than 1' in diameter. Although we had to wait a couple of weeks for the actual service, he and his crew showed up on the date/time stated and completed all the work in one day. The trees look beautiful! One thing worth mentioning is that Louis informed me that he would be leaving his crew to complete the work. At first I was nervous, but his crew did a wonderful job.

Louise Limon, owner, came over. He was here within 15 minutes of my call. He was so polite and nice. His price was excellent. They showed up on time and did a great job. They broke up cement that needed to be removed and hauled it away.

Juan is easy to work with (polite, professional, well informed, stays in touch) and he and his team were amazingly speedy. They did a great job.

It was a very good service, they were respectful, and cleaned up after they finished. They were able to work with other contractors at the house. The gentleman that came out for the estimate was very knowledgeable. They also had the permit when they arrived for the job to park the equipment in front of the house. The quote was competitive. They also followed up to make sure that I was satisfied with the service.

I began my search for a tree service by calling three other companies with high ratings on Angie's List. One company was not operating because of the owner's accident, and the other company provided an estimate that was very high (as it turns out, more than twice the amount we paid). We initially settled on another tree service company. After a disappointing experience with them from Angie's List (after scheduling the work for 9/18/08, they arrived and revised their estimate upward by over $400, and then indicated they didn't have the right equipment to do the job that day!), I contacted Affordable Tree Service on the morning of 9/23/08. I received a written estimate that afternoon from Louis Limon. Afterward, I obtained two additional estimates from companies that I found through referral and the Yellow Pages. During this time, Louis Limon placed followup calls to me to see if we had made a decision. He also said that if another licensed, insured, bonded company gave us a better price to please give him an opportunity to review his estimate. I called Louis Limon back to say that I had indeed received a lower estimate (I did this because of his followup with me and because the other company could not schedule the work before the end of Oct.) He came back out, reviewed the work, and lowered his price to match the other estimate I received. We scheduled the work for approximately 10 days later, starting at 9:00am. The first crew member arrived at 8:00am (he did not disturb us) with the large truck. By 9:00am, everyone had arrived and set-up was almost complete. The work took much longer than originally estimated.They left at approximately 7:00pm and had to return the next day to finish the cleanup. They did return the next day, at their convenience, and completed the cleanup; the invoice was left in our mailbox.

Louis came out for the estimate and was prompt and courteous. He gave me a reasonable estimate then lowered the deal to make it even sweeter since I was a first time customer looking for reliable tree service. He even made a follow-up call which I appreciated. He wasn't immediately available when I was ready to hire but he promised to keep me informed of an opening in his schedule, which he did a couple of weeks later. The day of the job Louis didn't show up but I talked to him on the phone and we were able to work out last minute details. His workers were fast and thorough. I was most impressed by how clean and orderly they were. In hindsight, I wish I knew a little more about the process because I would have had them do some things differently but that's not Louis' fault. Overall he did a pretty good job.

Great service. The call was answered promptly and they even came out to our house the same day. They received a cancellation later that week and were able to do the stump removal within the week. My husband actually met with him, but he really liked the guy. The service was prompt and efficient.

The owner of the company responded quickly to my call and was effusive in assuring me of a good result. I called him twice after that before he set a date, which he did keep promptly. I thought he told me he would remain on the premises during the job, but after the crew got started, he left to attend to something else. Maybe he and I didn't understand each other, but I wanted the two overgrown trees pruned back and shaped. The crew left stub-like leafless skeletons. I could have got the same result elsewhere for less. In fact, I have.

I have mixed feelings about the service, although it went mostly well. I met with owner Louis and he was articulate and intelligent. He put me at ease about the work to be done and was willing to work on a Saturday. The scheduling process was a breeze. They arrived later than expected on the work day, although they did call to inform me that they were running late, which was very professional. Louis himself never was there for the work, although he said he would be. I spoke to him a few times during the day and he told me he would be at my home, but in the end he never made it. The work was mostly good, although I did have two complaints. First, the workers were supposed to leave as much of the living brush on the hillside, but they cut away much too much, leaving the hill bare. We will have to regrow much more than usual now. Also, they accidentally knocked down a small tree on the property but did not offer to make any kind of restitution. In their defense the tree had rotted roots, so the accident was not really their fault, but I was disappointed that they didn't offer to give us a discount or plant a new small tree. That left a bad taste in my mouth. Finally, I don't really think that they are "affordable" as their name implies. The price seemed a bit steep. Overall, they were more professional than the typical tree service, but I did have some complaints.

The price was really low. The team was was very friendly and efficient. Took them about 2 hours of time. They cleaned up well. I would have liked it if they could have done the job sooner, but they were busy with other clients and I can't complain about the price.

A good friend recommended Louis Limon to me. Then I checked Angie's List and found his company listed there. We made an appointment, he came over to assess the work that needed to be done, then gave me a written estimate as well as copies of his insurance and license. One week later he came by again to review some changes I wished to make. We set a date and time to do the work. The day before the work was to begin, he called to reconfirm. He and his crew arrived on time and performed the job to my complete satisfaction. The work was done exactly as we had agreed it would be. He and his crew were polite, thorough and professional. They cleaned everything up before leaving. I highly recommend him and will use his company again.
