5 Star Wrought Iron

I called for an estimate. They came out promptly. They measured the windows and gave me a completion date of two days later. The window bars matched the existing ones we had. They were fast and the product looks good. The price was very reasonable.

The apartment building is on a busy street corner in Long Beach. One of the renters said that someone was looking in her bedroom window on the back side of the building one night. At night other renters say they are woken up by people going thru the garbage bins. I decided to put up two gates to keep these people out. 5 Star came up with the best quote after measuring. I gave them a deposit at that time. One week later the two installers (led by Luis Barrera) arrived at 10 AM and had the gates installed by 4 PM. They did a beautiful job and the renters are very happy. I highly recommend them and will I will use them again.

I called Luis Barrera (owner) for an estimate and he showed up at my house on time for appointment. It took a couple months before he started work only because that was my fault. They came and installed the fence first and then had to wait a few weeks for the motor/telephone system to be installed. I wanted specific gauge sizes for the posts, pickets and framing and he gave me what I asked for. I wasn't too happy that the work took a few more weeks longer than the original 3 weeks but it was all good in the end and my fencing looks great. He even made me a 4 foot sample of the fencing with the design so I know what it looks like before committing. This is BEFORE I even signed a contract with him so, at that exact moment, he did that work for free. No company I know would do that and take the chance that I may not hire him. Luis is an extremely nice and personable guy and will do whatever you ask but it helps alot if you or someone you know speak to him in Spanish. His team of guys including his son were very nice and courteous and I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for wrought iron work and/or fencing.

I CALLED THE COMPANY TO INSTALL SAFETY RELEASE WINDOW BARS. THEY COME PROMPTLY AND DID THE JOB QUICKLY AND DID IT RIGHT. I ASKED THEM IF THEY COULD FIX THE IRON GATE AND THEY TOOK CARE OF IT FOR VERY LITTLE COST. I F I NEEDED THIS TYPE OF WORK AGAIN I WOULD CALL THEM BEFORE ANYONE ELSE.

They were timely and courteous. They were conscientious in cleaning up after themselves. We were very satisfied with the finished results. There was something that we weren't happy about which I can't remember but it was somewhere in the areas of professionalism.

I liked them. They showed up when they said they were going to. They were very reliable and they did what they said they were going to do.

5 Star came out as scheduled to discuss what I wanted, drew me a sketch and gave a quote. The quote seemed a little high, but we needed the install asap so didn't have time to get a lot of bids. When I called to give the job the go-ahead, I tried to ask about a certain detail finish for the top of the hand rail; I was also told the install would happen "probably Friday." On Thursday, my mother called saying 5 Star was there with the rail and was already installing. The finished product is very utilitarian, and doesn't have the more refined look that I had hoped for, and that I thought I had asked about over the phone. There was also some overspray of black paint on the beige stucco.

I didn?t have a very good experience with them. They came out and gave me an estimate. They came back to show me a sample of what it would look like, but it looked completely different when they brought it and the iron looked different too. They took it back and I thought that they could do something else with it. They then brought it back and it looked worse. So I basically told them that I didn?t want it. They gave me the initial quote about two and a half weeks ago. They were supposed to come back a week ago on Monday, but they forgot to show up. So I called them the next day and they came on Tuesday evening. They brought the actual handrail on this last Saturday and I wasn?t happy with it. That?s when they took it back and tried to fix it. They brought it back today and I didn?t like it. So they took it back and I won?t be using them.

Luis Barrera, the owner of 5-Star Wrought Iron, came to my house, gave me a written estimate of the work, and was prompt and courteous. The workmanship was excellent, and Mr. Barrera and his assistant clearly knew what they were doing. The job was not an easy one, but they performed well. I would recommend Mr. Barrera's firm with one advisory note. Mr. Barrera's first language is Spanish and, while he can understand spoken English, I found it useful to speak to him in Spanish, particularly when discussing details of the work. Potential customers who do not speak Spanish might want to keep that in mind when considering Mr. Barrera and his firm. Knowing Spanish or having someone who is fluent in the language would be a definite plus in clarifying issues and making sure everyone has the same understanding of the job to be done.

I contacted the company in February, I think. Left a message on their answering machine at least twice. I did not get a call back until early April. I had gotten busy and hadn't pursued any other company, so I made an appointment. The first appointment went fairly well. The gentleman who arrived seemed very knowledgeable about what could be done and described the design very well. He went away, promising to have the office call with an estimate. After a week, I called and asked for an estimate, which I was given on that call. The estimate was $350 per table base. I had expected around that number, so I gave the authorization to start work. Estimated completion date was early May, approximately 2.5 weeks after authorization to start. I did not pay a down payment, although that had been discussed at the first meeting. I had agreed to pay 50% up front, but when I called to get the estimate, I wasn't asked for any form of payment to start work. Just before the estimated delivery date, I called to get a time/exact date. I was told that they needed a few more days, at which time, I asked for a delay due to an upcoming 2-week vacation. I called in late May after returning from vacation for a new delivery date, and was again told that the bases were not ready. I was given a new delivery date every time I called over the next several weeks. The table bases came out exactly as I expected, and the final cost was $100 less then the estimate. It is just a good thing that I didn't have anything driving the delivery date.

An extraordinary work of art! We called 5 Star because of their high rating on Angie's List and wonderful satisfaction of customers. We initially wanted a security gate with an architectural feel but did not have a firm design in mind. After the initial measurements we met at the 5 Star fabrication facility and agreed to incorporate artwork into the gates that would coordinate with existing wrought iron art work hanging on the front of our house. The end result exceeded our expectations; everyone who has seen our new gate is overwhelmed by the artwork and the workmanship. There was great attention to detail including matching the color with the existing artwork, incorporation of galvanization for enhanced durability and routing of our door bell wiring within the gate itself to keep the wiring from detracting from the final product. All work was done professionally and expeditiously (in spite of damage to their worksite from a neighboring business fire during this period). The price was what I had anticipated for a gate without artwork; I am very satisfied.

They were very responsive. The work was done on-time and very quickly, but he speaks mainly spanish and it was a little hard to communicate with him. The wrought iron has seemed to start rusting rather quickly, however I am not sure if it has been caused by the sprinklers or the quality of the fencing.

After reading the reviews, I called but got no response. So I drove by the address and found that the building had burned down. If they have a new location and phone, then it should be listed on the List

I requested an estimate to have the metal fencing and gates painted and to repair one of the gates, which did not open and close properly. The owner, Luis, estimated $1200 if they did the work on-site or $1700 if they take the fencing and gates to their shop and have them sandblasted and powder coated. I decided on the $1700 job. When they came to remove the fencing and gates, Luis? sons suggested to me that if I wanted maximum longevity, I should have the metal replaced with new metal and have it galvanized, although that would be substantially more expensive. I didn?t like the fact that I wasn?t given all the options with the original estimate, but I decided to go with the more expensive option. Hopefully, I won?t have to worry about corrosion for a long, long time. I have no complaints about the quality of the work that was done. The only other negative thing I can say is sometimes the woman who answered the phone sounded a bit grumpy, or she would promise to call me back and I would have to wait a while for her to call. Overall, I?m a satisfied customer.

Everything was completed within a two-week time-frame.The company representative arrived on time, and installation went smoothly. We had to make one visit to their offices in South Central LA to agree on paint finishes, the final design, and sign the contract.

The owner came out the day I called with illustrations for an outdoor railing. He helped select a design and the appropriate color to match trim on the house. Was back inside of a week to install the railing. Prompt service and fair price. I recommended this company to my contractor.

It went very well. They came when they said they would and did all the work in the same day. The work was very professionally done. Everything was left very neat, and there was no collateral damage to decking or the railing.

Luis showed up and took very detailed measurements. I already had designs in mind but Luis offered some improvements to my designs. I wanted to replace the sliding driveway gate because it had been hit several times by cars. Luis suggested some inexpensive repairs and some higher quality wheels. After giving me a written estimate, Luis said he needed one week to fabricate the gates. We scheduled an install date for about a week later. He showed up with a crew that day, installed everything and did the repairs to the existing gates. Everything looked great. There were no problems and I am very satisfied with the work. Luis' pricing was very reasonable compared to the other estimates.

Showed up on time for appointment / work completed as promised. Returned without question when problem arose with gate / installed wrought iron mailbox and painted it when my wife was less than happy with the color. Overall I was very happy with the quality and price.

Luis and Co. were great. Their estimate was right on. They were thorough and included me in every decision. Proceeded to do exactly what they promised, and beautifully. Only complaint is they were a day later than they'd promised to finish, but they did an amazing job.

We have an older home built in 1924 and we wanted to design and create a look that complemented the period of our home. We selected a style that we found in a book and 5 Star Wrought Iron made a sketch of that and custom designed that exact style for us to integrate it into our outdoor space. The work was truly outstanding and all the work was done in a timely fashion. We were also impressed with the pricing. We called several other highly recommended companies from Angie's List and their prices were much higher and they used standard products that we not even custom made. The owner came to our house and helped us with the designs and we were so impressed with the work that we hired them again to complete a second project for us. Once again the work was outstanding and done very quickly. We just finished an huge one year remodel and have hired and managed over a dozen sub-contractors and I have to say 5 Star Wrought Iron was by far the best experience we had. I highly recommend them and we are not the easiest clients to work with.

Called them one day, and they came the next day to give an estimate. Luis arrived exactly on time. I was impressed with his solution to fixing the gate, as it was attached to a wall which was now uneven. He offered to come out later the same day, which he did. The result is great. They even fixed a couple other small problems with the gate at no charge. He was very professional and courteous.

My experience with them was fine. They came out right away, gave me an accurate quote and did the work; the work went well. We have been using the gates for the last year and a half and everything has been good. I would use them in the future, if necessary.
