All went according to plan. 5 Star removed the hand railings that were rusted and broken in places and replaced in great shape in a timely manner. Part of the railing was too far gone to restore so they literally searched vintage wrought iron parts places and found piece same as original and used it to seamlessly replace the worst section. They went the extra mile to restore this properly. Good people, highly skilled in their craft. I would recommend to anyone

They matched existing wrought iron and came close to the color. Very responsive and quick. Estimate and design on Tuesday, installation on Friday. Everything went very well.

5 Star Wrought Iron had a good price, did a good job, did it when they said they would, and were on time. They were everything you would hope for. I plan to use them in the future.

Wrought iron work came out ok , but you literally need to explain yourself very clearly or draw out everything yourself. I wanted matte/flat color sheen but got semi-gloss. I told them I wanted matte/flat at the estimate, a worker said that is was flat but because of "powder coat" it had more of a gloss; Lie!..... Later, owner said it was semi-gloss. I accepted it and kept the semi-gloss. Even though I paid for flat. They showed up one time without calling when the order was ready and expected us to be home and ready without calling. OK? Who does that? Had a Iron gate made with deadbolt lock that didn't full extend and hit the stucco wall. If a bolt isn't FULLY extended, it's not dead locked; it can be easily be pried right back into the gate. Deadbolts hitting stucco or wall causes lock failure. I tried to explain this to a worker but he got "stressed out" and said something in Spanish and walked away to the work truck. Had to have them come back and fix that. Trying to work with the "Son" of the owner is frustrating. We had the window balconies installed on the "window wood frame" in the beginning but needed them moved to the stucco. Son claimed "he NEVER installed balconies on stucco ever. Lie again.... Isn't that the customers choice anyway? Almost every balcony or window grill is always installed on stucco or the wall, not on the window frame; since most windows are metal or vinyl these days. We had one installed on the window frame years ago from another company because the rain gutter was in the way; doesnt mean we want the rest like that . And we did tell them that on first day estimate .His excuse was "So I'm suppost to call you and ask you to watch everything I put up and install?........ Arguing with someone about something like this is just not worth it. One of the railing add-on designs wasn't also what I asked for.. Even though I gave Him a picture of what I wanted. Didn't notice it wasn't the right design until they went home. Even with pictures the designs did not come out as ordered. Don't know if I want to deal with this mess again. Working with the father is fine, (except communication can be quite difficult) he will work with you to get what you want and paid for. The experience was stressful to me and I felt my "blood presure" going up when arguing with the "son" because he could not admit fault.( "And I don't even have blood pressure problems")....Customer relation skills need to be taught to workers who work with customers.

He did a great job. He was fair and within market price. He was very professional.

Work was started and completed as promised

5 Star crew worked non stop about 8-10 hrs a day and set up a tent in a very odd shape to fit my back yard and walk ways. They secured everything so perfectly and beautifully. Every inch of the area was nicely covered. My outdoor party went real well. They came couple of days later and took everything down carefully and stored the parts nicely and neatly in my garage for future use. Excellent job, considering how fast they had to work to set it up.

So far, so good. I had a couple of wrought iron companies submit an estimate for a fence and driveway gate replacement. The men from 5 Star came over, gave me an excellent price, and said that they can begin the job in about a week. I decided to wait until after the holidays to have the job done. Will submit a follow-up review next month. Having an interpreter would be helpful.

This family-run company provided a bid that was half of the other bid we received. The owner came out to the house to meet with us twice to work out design and measurements. He allowed us to visit his shop to look at samples. He provided actual samples for us to chose among. We requested hand wrought details and they were done just as described. The quality of the work to this point ( finishito be applied in 6 weeks...we're going with a semi-rust finish) is excellent! On the day of actual installation the crew of 4 worked without break all day until it was done at dusk. very courteous and helpful with moving the potted plants and putting them back w/o being asked. We are very pleased! The only caveat: It requires a little patience if you don't understand Spanish when speaking with the head of the company. He is a VERY experienced iron man and helpful with clients who need some advice, but it took some effort on both parts to make sure we were understanding each other. His son, who was in charge of installation, speaks English very well. We are very glad we chose this very professional, efficient and well priced compnay!

5 Star Wrought Iron showed up to give me an estimate and they were casual and relaxed but knowledgeable. The owner of the company himself was the person who came to our house. He asked a number of questions to determine exactly what I wanted and gave me the estimate that turned out to be exactly what I paid. He also had a quick turnaround. The installers that came out were friendly and knew what they were doing. They got to work very quickly and I like the look of the decorative wrought iron that I chose. Everything was wrapped so that it couldn't be scratched while they transported it. One of the handrails was a little wobbly the next day. I called them and they immediately came out and re-did the concrete so it would not move. I would definitely use them again.

Overall, the job got done and I was satisfied with the outcome, but it did required a little patience with their service. The owner was prompt and helpful during the initial quote which took place in late June. I was happy with his proposal and agreed that 5 Star should do the job. My understanding when we shook hands was they would start the fabrication then call me for a deposit and then schedule an installation date. Fortunately, I made a copy of the hand-drawn install sketch and quote. Two weeks later, with no call back, I called to inquire on the job. They had lost my quotation. As we were leaving on vacation shortly, 5 Star said they would start on the fabrication and call me when I returned to schedule the install. I offered a deposit, but they said not to worry, that they would move ahead. Upon our return, several weeks past before I called them for an update. Again, the paperwork was misplaced and could I re-fax them a copy. I gave them one more chance and sent the material. They called back right away and said they would start right away. I also sent them an initial deposit as this may have been the interest hang up. The fabrication was completed and the job scheduled for Saturday morning. They were delayed for 4 hours but the job was completed by late afternoon. There were some errors in the fabrication on one gate (wrong swing direction) which required the installers to rework on location. The overall quality was good and the gates work and look great. If you?re patient with 5 Star, they eventually do a good job.

We needed a driveway gate to keep our 2 ( 3 & 1 year old) little ones from getting out to our very busy street. But we had no idea how to get one, so I started researching how one would buy and install a driveway gate and it was a daunting task. Then I stumbled upon Angie's list, I started narrowing down our selection to 2 or 3 companies after reading the reviews. We called in 2 contractors to bid on the project and we found Luis Barrera's company to be the perfect fit for us for the following reason: 1. Knowledge and experience - Luis (owner) came and meet with us to discuss the project step-by-step. He actually drew how the driveway gate was going to look like while we were discussing it on top of the sample pictures that he showed us. 2. Price/Cost - Luis explained to us the cost of the project and the quote he gave us fit our budget and was a 100% lower than the other contractor that bid. And based on my research was the best price one could get in the LA area for such a project. 3. Quality-The driveway gate looked exactly how Luis explained it to us and is definitely a great piece of work (see attached picture). My wife and I are very impressed how beautiful the gate turned out. We have gotten a couple of compliments from our neighbors. 4. Punctuality/Professionalism - I met with Luis on a Tuesday and he promised that he will get it done within a week. I got a call on Saturday (same week) from Luis asking if his son Joe can install it (3-days!). We were so confident with Luis with his company that we were not even at our home(we had a previous commitment) when they installed driveway gate and fence. It was such a pleasant surprise to see our new Driveway Gate when we got home! I called Luis to thank him for the wonderful job they did and promised him that I let everyone know about his company. Thank you Luis and Joe for your great job!

Smooth as butter, from start to finish.

I needed lot of Iron work around my house to match the front railing and the metal garage door. Last year I found Mr. Luis, 5 Star ,from Angie's list and they came right away and we went over some of the pieces first, which were to cover the tanless water heater and the pool equipment and make railing for the back steps. Once he made them, we were very happy how they matched the existing pieces. Then we just added more work and more items and they kept making them exactly as we designed them. They just dropped off a semilunar portalbe bar for the back yard. It looks great. They take check and credit card, which is very convienient.

The work performed was absolutely excellent. Luis and his son showed up and finished the job early and right on estimate. They are true craftsman and I would absolutely recommend them.

5 Star came out and meausred both doorways. The gentleman that came out was very nice and listened to what we needed. He measured and within a few days the doors were ready. Installation was done quickly and correctly. As a matter of fact, a few days later I needed some handrails secured and called 5 Star thinking I could set up an appt for a future date. To my surprise, they said they could fix it immediately. Both jobs were done perfectly. Very happy with their service and communication. I would definitely use them again. My experience with them so far has been a good one.

These guys are a disaster. A complete waste of time. I called based on reviews about a week and a half ago. Scheduled an appointment for 10am on a Wed. At 11am I called to see where he was. I was told he'd be there in 30 minutes. 45 minutes later I called back and was told he'd be there by 12. When he finally rolled in it took 5 minutes to explain the small job I had. A week later I hadn't heard back with a quote so I called. They didn't have it or couldn't find it but apologized and said they would call back later that day. After not hearing I called again the next day. I was told they were still unsure but it looked like the quote was just under $300. I told them OK and set an appointment for the following Monday. On that Thursday they called the house and spoke to my wife who told them to call my cell. They didn't. Instead they told her the quote was actually $1200. Once I heard I called and was then again told it was $1700. And there was work to be done on my gate which was incorrect. Then the owner told his son $688 or something. By that point I asked how many hours? And how much at hour? Finally, I just said forget it and told them to cancel the appointment.

From beginning to end it went very smoothly. Very courteous and professional. Did all work in a timely manner and did an excellent job at that. Will definitely do business again.

They did a good job. It wasn't cheap but it was very good value for what I wanted.
