5 Star Wrought Iron

Pretty bad overall experience. I plan to call another firm.

He did the work perfectly and efficiently.

Perfectly...they are clever and experienced and very easy to talk to. the final price was a bit higher only due to the cost of a piece of equipment they needed to buy and they showed me the cost in the catalogue.

Both for the estimate and the install they were an hour off on the times arranged by their office person, Marisol. I had them do work before and was happy enough to have them back. My original makeshift fence which they were replacing was all the way to the ground with various 2 & 4 by 4's to prevent my dogs from tunneling underneath. When they arrived an hour late, they began to work. They did everything except to install the lock on the gate as they had forgotten the type that I had showed them at the time of estimate( not a big deal). They said they would come back tomorrow to finish the lock. After they left, I noticed a 5-10 inch gap at the bottom of the fence. I called them and left a message. The next day when they came to put the lock on the gate, I explained the problem about the excessive gap. Various options were discussed and I thought we agreed upon one. After a week I called to see where the follow up was, I received an email saying it would be an additional $250! The whole point of the fence was to separate the animal areas. Now they want more money to do what was to be done in the first place?? It's too bad because I had a lot more work to be done.

Overall, we had a very good experience. We called an scheduled an appointment for an initial estimate. Luis, the owner, arrived on time and made some measurements. He also brought a large stack of books with designs. He was knowledgeable and made several suggestions and recommendations which made our gate more functional. Afterwards, they called to give us an estimate on the price. When we decided to hire them, they came by again to confirm the design and to take some more measurements. After the gate was completed, they came one more time for some adjustments to the gate, and then sent the gate off to get galvanized and painted. A week later, they called to schedule the installation The only hiccup that we encountered during the whole process was that they scheduled the install for 10 am but didn't arrive until 3 pm. Other than that, the whole process went very smoothly. They did a meticulous, careful and high quality job. We are happy with the service and the final product.

Luis is VERY punctual. For the estimate, he arrived an hour earlier than expected. The day of the job, I found him outside, an hour earlier, working on the car damage to the fence. Luis & his assistant worked quickly, fastening, welding, & painting.

You can depend upon their appointment and installation schedule. They were here for three different phases over about a 3 month period, and never did they fail to appear as scheduled.

They came out the day after we called them to give an estimate. They were early for the appointment. We looked at photo books of gates and fences that were available, but decided to go with a photo we had found instead. They gave an estimate the next morning, and the whole job was completed in a week. One of the gates needed to be refit at the shop, because the wall it was to be attached to was not even and level. They returned the next day with the adjusted gate. The guys were professional and neat, and made good suggestions. I would definitely recommend them, and use them again.

The communication wasn't as good as it could have been. Not everything was made to my specifications. The doors didn't match so they had to come back.

I am a COMPULSIVE shopper when it comes to construction and hiring tradespeople. I wanted iron bars to go over two windows on my home that were hidden by bushes and vulnerable to a break in. I called 5 Star and even though I was a bit out of their usual service area they came out. In fact I asked if they could come out the same day and they did! They arrived when they said they would, looked at the area, made some drawings and gave me a quote on the spot. I figured this would run at least $1000 and their bid was $340. They painted, powder coated and installed within 2 days. Mind you, this was the week before Christmas, but they absolutely jammed on this project and showed up on time and did a very clean install. I couldn't be happier with their service or their price. I will definitely use them again. In fact, I had them give me a bid for two other projects before they left. Great company, they do their own fabricating which makes things much faster and cuts down on costs drastically. I will hire them again.

Came out twice to get measurements, worked via email with me on the design of the gate to make sure it matched the existing fencing. From initial estimate to installation, it was only 10 days. Estimate was held to even with some changes midway through project. Very good company to work with.

I was very pleased with this company. They showed up on the appointment date to give me an estimate and came back another time to confirm some measurements and design features. On the work day, they showed up on time and worked all day. Good supervision and work quality. We had just finished a house remodel and they were half the estimate my contractor gave me, and were twice as professional.

I gave them a model of the gate that I wanted and they made small part of it in reverse. It was not a big issue and the gate still looks good. We consulted other providers from the list and this was the most reasonably priced. They even added some reinforcing attachments that were nice as well. They offered to redo the job due to making the L bar improperly, I declined this offer. The gate was sturdier than expected. They really focus on giving good service. The experience was still great. I would recommend them to anyone.

After a rough start trying to find the location, I had a wonderful experience.

They arrived for the estimate a little late but they called to adjust the time. The owner worked with me to design the gates based on a picture from the Internet. He made several helpful suggestions. He explained the process up front and gave me an overall time frame for the job. I went to the location to sign the contract and work out the details. In the office, Marisol was very helpful. The gates were completed and installed in the half the time that was estimated.

After reading their reviews, I called, and spoke with Marisol. That Saturday morning Oscar and Luis arrived delightfully early for their scheduled bid appointment. They sized up what we needed, let me peruse their style books, made measurements & a few quick sketches, and presented me with a very reasonable, all-inclusive, hand-written bid. I called Monday morning to give the go-ahead. Marisol estimated it would take about 2 weeks, but it was seven days from bid to install! Marisol even sent somebody over to pick up a can of our trim paint so that the gates and parts would match. When the gates were finished & at the painters, Marisol called to set up an install appointment -- I never had to nudge or follow up myself. The day of the install, the crew arrived on-time and got right to work. Everything was done quickly and carefully, and we are thrilled with the results.

He didn't show up the first day and when I called the representative said he mixed up the appointment and would be there the following day. He came the following day, measured and drew a diagram. He didn't have any photos or brochures to look at. He said he'd call with the price but he never called. Needless to say, we went with someone else.

5 STAR did a very good job on the project. Their price was the lowest estimate we got. The owner Luis was easy to work with, and gave us some good ideas. The head worker Oscar was very nice, and made minor changes we requested without hesitation. The office person Marisol was also very nice and kept us informed on status as the job progressed. The job was completed about a week after starting.

The experience from 5 Star was great from the beginning. They showed up promptly for the estimating, gave a fair price, and said that the job would take about three hours. Once we okayed the work, they showed up on time and the work took about three hours. All of the workers were very courteous and friendly and their work was fantastic. The gate hasn't looked this good for years! I would definitely use them again for wrought iron work!

Company made an appointment and never showed or called.

I made my first appointment for 2 p.m on a Friday. At 2:40 p.m I called 5 star to see what had happened. The dispatcher located the employees who where supposed to come and they said they would be another 60-90 minutes before they could come. I had other appointments that afternoon so I had to reschedule for the next day. The appointment I scheduled with them was for between 8:30 a.m and 9 a.m. They said there is no way they could be late since it was their first appointment of the day. At 9:30 a.m, I called 5 star and got an answering machine. At that point, I was done with 5 star and called another company (which is an excellent company by the way). They never called back.

After some problems with a missed appointment for an estimate, a deposit check being returned by the Post Office due to their moving and then our order lost by an employee no longer working for them, the work was finally done to our satisfaction. Hopefully, the company has corrected their personnel issues. I can't say if the price was fair or not because I didn't get other bids, I just trusted Angies List customers.

They did an excellent job. It was all done in a few hours. They came on time and took care of the trash. The fence looks very good.

No complaints. They were very helpful in the design process and provided a quote right away. They started when they said they would and finished on time and on budget. The job site was kept very clean and they took care to make sure out dog stayed in the yard. The owner is a nice older gentleman with limited English but we managed to communicate. He had very good design ideas. They are a bit pricey, but the work was great and I highly recommend them in a world of fly-by-night operations.

I was very pleased with my experience from the first estimate through the installation. The entire staff (the owner Luis, the office manager Daisy, the secretary Patty and the installer Oscar) was helpful and professional. The installation went smoothly, and the finished product is beautiful.
