I would highly recommend Sturdy Fence company. They were quick to respond to my inquiry and provided great customer service! I reached out just before the Thanksgiving holiday when our front gate broke. Mike was able to quickly schedule an estimate and fit in the job just in time for me to host my family.

It was good. They came out and brought all the materials on site, took out the old gate, and replaced the post. It was good and still works today, and I am really happy about it.

Mike was prompt, professional and quick. He was able to schedule my repair in a timely fashion. He was willing to match a slightly lower bid from another company. The old fence was removed and the new one installed in 3 hours. The new fence is quite attractive and solid. Mike was also willing to collect half the payment from my neighbor, who was not on site.

He gave us a lot of tips. I think the job was too large for him to do, and his estimate was too large for him to do the work. He was upfront with us that he'd be too expensive ahead of time, however. He was great to speak with and we'd consider him for smaller jobs in the future.

They do a good job in and out. It was well done and quick. I've used them three times in total. They do what they say they're going to do. Their price is fair but they are not the cheapest price.

I've used Mike at Sturdy Fence Company for all the fences at my house. When my parents needed their white picket fence replaced, Mike was the first person I called. We didn't want a fence that had to be painted. Mike suggested con heart redwood. We also had a tricky sloped down to the street driveway for which we needed a gate. Mike built us a beautiful fence in very short time. Mike is one of my favorite contractors. We first used his help some 16 years ago shortly after we moved into our house. I'd call him again in a heartbeat.

I did not use them because I looked them up on a state web site and they did not carry workman's comp. Their state licensing was not up to date on one item, I don't remember which one. They came out for the estimating process; things went very well and they were very nice. I also checked them out on Angie's List but I am unhappy because you do not check out these contractors very well.

Couldn't have gone better. We really like our new fence and I figure it will last 15 to 20 years at least. Hired Sturdy about 4 years ago and he did a great job then that's why I went back to him.

Mike did the job in less than the estimated time, was here every day of the job on time, kept the work site clean, and minimized disruption. The finished fence looks great. He is very easy to talk to and accommodated our special request for a dog door in the fence very smoothly. He was friendly to my dog, and he whistles and hums while he works. I called him for this fence because he did my back fence about 6 years ago, and that construction has held up well. I did not get multiple bids for this job since I knew his work and his bid seemed reasonable to both me and my neighbor, but for my prior fence, his was the lowest bid.

I called this company and spoke with a man who was very flippant in his conversation with me. I told him that I needed an estimate to replace a 50 foot fence between my neighbor and myself and to also have a gate replaced on the other side of my home. When I gave him my address, which is located in San Mateo, he very harshly replied that he did not do business in San Mateo without an explanation. He is listed in Mountain View which is several towns south of San Mateo about 10 miles away. That seems to be a very rigid business practice; I can understand fence companies in San Jose, which is located about 50 miles south of San Mateo not wanting to travel that far to do a job, but 10 miles away! I really don't understand how he received an Angie's List rating of A. I will not use him ever nor recommend him.

Mike Hampel is the owner of the company. It was Mike and another person who came out to get the work done. They did a good job. They showed up when they said they would. They worked fairly rapidly and were done in less than a day. I was very happy with them and I called him to come back and do some more work. He worked with me on the estimate and it was reasonable. He was a little more affordable than some of the other estimates that I got. I got some feedback from some of his clients before I hired him. He gave me some references. I am a pleased customer. He doesn?t have a cell phone and so we used voicemail. I called his office a number of times and left a message, he then called me back. If I missed his call, then I left a message. It?s like going back and forth and there is a bit of difficulty when it comes to communication. However, everything else was positive and I am very satisfied with the work.

The job was done on time and on budget with very high quality. The owner, Mike, did all the work himself with one helper. We and our neighbors were very pleased with the results.

Came promptly to give estimates on replacing fences on three sides of my home. The estimate was the most reasonable. However, when I discussed the final contract he was most helpful in suggesting ways to fix two fences and the gates. He was considerate of the best way to prevent doing unnecessary work. I most pleased with the final product, the expert manner in which it was all done. Would recommend him to anyone.

We have recommend him to friends. He was very fast. He was very punctual. He had the lowest bid. He didn't have to remove the plants before he put in the fence and was able to tie them back or trim them to do the work.

I used Mike last year to replace another fence. As always, he was prompt in returning my phone calls, came out to give me a free estimate, and after I got back to him scheduled and completed the work quickly. I would highly recommend him because he is easy to work with, reasonably priced, and does quality work.

This company was a real pleasure to deal with. He was prompt, polite, reasonable, and professional. I will not hesitate to use them again.

Mike came in with estimate. We wanted to upgrade the previous fence to better material and also add lattice to top of fence line to match surrounding fences of house. They gave competitive bid. The work started at 8:15 and they were done with the whole process by 1:30. The fence looks wonderful! We would use them again!
