It was a very big job--tearing off the old roof and installing a three-ply system. The company was professional in all phases of the process. New, custom-made drains were created, and the job was not easy, since we have four levels of roof on architectural house, which has rounded areas, and some of the plywood needed to be replaced. My husband was very impressed by the salesman, foreman and crew, and went up on the roof several times to see the work.

Well back in Dec 2012 I had an estimate done with Long Beach Roofing. Upon meeting Mike Walker, I was put at ease with his knowledge and professionalism. Fast forward to the present. I called him on Monday and they were able to fit me in the next day. He took some pictures for me so I could see the roof. The next day the crew was there at 7 a.m. as promised and they got to work. Throughout the process, Mike would call to let me know the progress of the work and the anticipated completion. At first I was going to pay with a credit card, but he let me know that they would have to charge 2% of the transaction fees, so instead I got a cashier's check since I was out of checks. I wanted to pay the bill straight away, so he agreed to swing by my the house at 6:30 a.m. the next day to pick it up. Overall I felt very pleased by the interaction. The only thing that they didn't tell me was the $50 Starbucks card for any roofing job. Update: I highly recommend them.

Perfect transaction

I got 4 quotes for removing the two layers of old roof and replacing it with composite shingles. There was also a small piece of flat roof on the front of my house, over the garage, to be replaced. Mike was the LB Roofing rep who did the bid and supervised the job. Mike was the most responsive and thorough of the 4 bidders. Others did quick quotes looking only at the outside, so were unaware of factors that could only be observed from inside the house's walk-in attic space. Another persisted in trying to sell me things I didn't want. Mike looked at the whole house, inside and out, and discussed options that I was considering, and provided a bid that covered those options. Long Beach Roofing was able to provide a plywood base that incorporates a radiant heat barrier (foil) to diminish the heat gain on my second floor. They offered a variety of shingle types and grades, and heat-applied sheet roofing for the flat portion. They were willing to coordinate work with the solar panel installers. The roofing part of the project took 4 days - the solar panels were installed after the roof was complete, so the total project lasted 7 work days. Mike monitored the weather, and we agreed to postpone the installation one week due to rain forecast for the morning when the roof would have been open, between the removal and plywood installation days. He arranged for the city's inspection of the plywood to be on the same day that the solar installers were mounting the stands for the solar panels. The next two days the shingles and flat roof were installed. The workers were on time every day, they covered the plants near my house with tarps to protect them from falling debris, and they cleaned up the debris at the end of each day. The city inspectors approved the work with no issues. Mike was very thorough and communicated with me daily to keep me posted on the schedule for the day. He also stayed in touch with the solar installer and made sure they had all the info they needed about the design of my house, to place a solar-powered attic fan in the most effective spot on the roof. There were no unexpected costs or delays. I am very pleased with this project, and definitely recommend Long Beach Roofing. My only suggestion to Mike was to let homeowners know that the removal of the old roof is really really noisy, so they can plan accordingly. Installation of the new roofing is much quieter than removal of the old, so only the first day had a disruptive noise level.

The work was done on schedule and they finished the work according to the schedule given to me. The project manager, Mike Walker, kept me well informed during the work. He did an excellent job!! So far so good. (Now I will have to wait for the next big rain)

We thought we needed a new roof as pieces were falling off and the last roof we put on it was 20 years ago. LB Roofing gave us an estimate, but said that the roof had a few more good years on it, and it only needed a roof cap right away which would prolong the life of the roof another 5 or so years. Saved us $$$ for honestly telling us we could get by with a $500 roof cap rather than a $12,000 new roof. I know we will have to put a new roof on in a few years, but now we have time to save for the expense. I will call Long Beach Roofing when the time comes to get the entire roof replaced.

I was very satisfied with the work done by this company. At first sight the roof looks incredible. I don't know for sure if it leaks or not because we haven't had any rain. I am very pleased with this company and glad that I hired them. They are very professional and the quality of work seems very good. I would recommend them to any member of Angie's List.

The price to re-roof my small house was very reasonable, and the work was done quickly.

I WAS GLAD THAT THEY WERE DONE. THEY WERE VERY NOISY AND THERE WAS A LOT OF POUNDING. I THINK THAT THEY ARE EXCELLENT. THEY'VE BEEN IN BUSINESS A LONG TIME. I HAD A GUY FROM THERE GET ON THE ROOF, AND HE SAID THAT I DID NOT NEED A ROOF. THAT'S WHY I HIRED THEM, BECAUSE THEY ARE HONEST.
