I don't know if it is just me but while we are happy with the actual floor itself the process of it being laid was quite painful. When I signed the contract I thought the owner was going to lay the tile but actually two young men showed up for the 5-day job. Not once during the 5 days did they ask permission for anything. They plugged their radio in to our electricity so they could listen to their music. They plugged their personal phones into our electricity to recharge them. They cut the tile in our driveway next to our bushes which are still stained white from the debris the saw produced. The person laying tile, who told me had had been doing it for 9 years, did not position the tile so each tile was different from the one next to it. There were six patterns and obviously you don't want "twins" next to each other. I had to request quite a few tile be repositioned. This really surprised me. Surely I can't be the only person who doesn't want identical tiles lying next to each other. The owner did not automatically come over to look at the completed job but he did come over when we requested as a replaced threshold plate was preventing the door from shutting properly. We ourselves replaced the bolt in the hatch on the door that had been removed as it was not put in properly. A person's home is their sanctuary, even if it is a humble home. Contractors are guests in that home and they should behave respectfully. And for goodness sakes ask permission to siphon off someone's electricity.
