It was one of the worst decisions I ever made. Over a period of four months, he showed up 4 times, for a total of less than 12 hours. He left a my yard with a pile of mud and leaves for three months. He just gave me one excuse after another as to why he couldn't work. He would say he was going to come over, and then not show up or call to say he wasn't coming. It was a disaster. He then decided he could not complete the job, but has never returned the large deposit I gave him. This was one year ago. I have filed charges against him, and have filed a small claims court claim. He just keeps giving me one excuse after another as to why he can't return my money. He is extremely unprofessional, unreliable, and a liar and a cheat.
Description of Work: I hired Gavin Becker to landscape my yard.

This was one of the worst decisions I have ever made. I hired Gavin Becker four months ago to redo my front yard landscaping. I paid him a large deposit for materials and beginning work. In the last four months he has shown up to work four times for a total of approximately 10 hours. All I have to show for four months and a large deposit is a pile of mud in my front yard. He refuses to answer my phone calls and my texts. He says he will come over and work and then doesn't show up and I am left waiting for him. I have have no idea what he plans to do except take my money and do nothing. He won't do the work, but he won't return my money either. Do not hire this man. He is irresponsible and unprofessional.

When Gavin Becker sent me my home inspection report, he did not include the vital information I requested: He did not indicate that the 7/16" OSB (not plywood) subfloor did not meet code requirements, which I expected him to do, since three flooring contractors had told me that it did not meet code requirements, so I emailed Gavin Becker repeatedly to include that fact in his report, but he would not respond. One month later, I had hounded him enough to respond. He stated that while it was unfortunate for me, 7/16" OSB WAS within code. I wanted to know what the code requirement was, to make sure Gavin Becker knew what he was talking about, for my $350.00, so I repeatedly emailed him asking for the specific subfloor code requirements, and after another month, I had apparently hounded him enough to get him to respond with the following, contradictory, email: "The National code for a subfloor is 1 1/4" overall. So if the difference between 7/16 and 1 1/4 is made up in thin set and hard board then it's within the code, Unless the subfloor is T&G plywood then in that circumstance 3/4" overall is the national code for subfloor." My 7/16" OSB subfloor is not topped with anything to bring its thickness up to code requirements, so I emailed Gavin several times, asking him to revise my home's inspection report to stipulate that the subfloor is not up to code, but after an additional half-month of sending him emails, he still has refused to accommodate me, by giving me a thorough, honest report. So I wasted $350.00 on his services. And I do not need the stress of having to wrestle a home inspector to the ground, to get the truth out of him. I just don't need this stress.
Description of Work: I needed verification that my entire subfloor was of inadequate thickness, because I got screwed over by a home seller who is very crafty in his deceitfulness, as a woman doing business on her own. I saw the entire subfloor prior to installation of my new wood flooring, but did not realize until after it was installed on TOP of it, that the thickness of the subfloor was below code. In order to protect myself, I needed to take the Seller to Small Claims Court. So I hired Gavin Becker to examine the house, overall, explaining thoroughly my concerns about having to rip out my new hardwood floor, in order to replace the subfloor. The front porch and deck are made of the same OSB subfloor as the house, and were not yet painted, and I had noticed the typed words on it that said it was 7/16" inch thick; it also said, "THIS SIDE DOWN," but it had been installed downside up. So I hired a Home Inspector to help me defend myself from the fraudulent Seller. I explained my concerns, completely, to Gavin Becker at the outset of his inspection. At the conclusion of his inspection, Gavin Becker told me that yes in fact, the entire subfloor had been done with 7/16 OSB.
