They did not level the floor with self leveling compound to start with. (big warning sign), but assured me that they are professionals and do this all the time and it would be perfect. They did not listen to what I wanted and started laying the wood plank tile in a pattern and not random as I had requested from the moment I walked into the show room. I brought this to their attention when they had laid 1/3 of the tile and I could see that they were doing a ridiculous pattern and not going random. They refused to fix it at that time and the fix was to remove some of the tiles and replace with pieces that randomized it but left short pieces in the middle of the floor. The floor is nowhere near flat and you can see it dip almost 2 inches over 3 feet along one wall and it all over the place. There are sharp edges of tile sticking out all over the place. The installer was some out of work loser friend of Jose's that Jose hired for the job because Jose had better things to do (I think his name was Bob, and I bought that crew lunch every day and tried to make their life as pleasant as possible). The grout joints we all over the place, almost touching in some places, wide in others, it was a total amateur job from the start. Before it was grouted I told Jose that there was no way I could pay him for such a lousy job. He got all pissy and said he would place a lien against my house and sue me. (all this right before Thanksgiving)... Talk about being held hostage in your own home and with a 1 year old baby in the house, this floor was/is not safe and this a-hole Jose is more than happy to put a customer over a barrel and force them to accept his shoddy work. So rather than have a seriously ****** off wife and court dates and legal fees, headaches, etc. I paid Jose the FULL amount for him to grout and finish the job. (he didn't bother to offer any discount nor compensation for his horrible work). He came out, did a seriously half arsed grout job (with epoxy grout and did not clean it off properly leaving an very thick splotchy epoxy haze all over the tile, he also missed several areas that would have been giant red flags when doing the sponge off). I had already paid him... after many phone calls I got a reluctant house call to patch in some grout, then after more calls and him avoiding my calls (had to use a different phone to get him to pick up) he had some other out of work friend come over with a pint of acid wash/epoxy grout remover to clean the tile. The guy had to leave and go to the store to get a gallon and still left a good portion of grout haze. Jose is a horrible excuse for a human being and a horrible business person/worm. I would warn anyone to stay away from Jose and Lodi Tile Works at all costs. For the record, I have waited for over a year to submit this review just in case Jose was man enough to try to make this right... But as I suspected, he is not.

Jose, the owner, of Lodi Tile Works was very prompt in coming to our home to look at the job as well as in sending his bid. The office staff was very pleasant and professional as well. The job went very smoothly. They were here on time, cleaned up after themselves, and did a fantastic job. We are very pleased. Definitely would hire them again!

Went great!
Description of Work: Bob and his crew did an amazing job on our apartment. He installed all new tile in the kitchen, front room, bathrooms and bedrooms. He worked fast and efficiently and everything was done in a few days. We eventually called him back to do our kitchen counters, which also came out amazing!
