Description of Work: "I chose California Glass in Lodi to replace all of my mother-in-law's single-pane windows and sliding glass door because a friend of mine had hers done the previous year by them and they seemed to do a good job in a very reasonable time with a quality product. I know that I should have read the reviews and maybe I wouldn't be so surprised or irritated right now, but obviously I did not. Brandon and Beck's reviews are spot on accurate. My 1st red flad should have been how many appointments Ray Jr. missed when we were trying to order the windows. He finally manages to keep an appointment, does the measuring and says he will call in a few weeks when they come in to set up a time to install. We negotiated for a reasonable price on the condition my mother-in-law paid cash. $5,900 Cash. There were a few glitches with the installation, but daily calls til they corrected them took a little over 2 weeks. | |The Security Screen Door they installed is a different story. My mother-in -law purchased the door separately and California Glass charged her $450 to install it. And there have been problems with it ever since. The most recent one being that when it started raining and wood expanded the skinny 3"" screws the used to install the frame, held nothing. My 82 year old mother-in-law could stand inside the house and just give the closed door a push and the whole door and frame would fall into the driveway. Not exactly secure. And certainly not my fault his employee used skinny 3"" screws instead of 6"" or longer lag bolts like you are supposed to. They have made 6 or 7 appointments to come out and fix it, shown up for 3, never, not once, called to say they wouldn't make it or to reschedule, because I'm sitting over there waiting for them. I always had to call and say hey you didn't make it and it still needs to me fixed. When will that be? | |The first time a guy came out and spent several hours and kept calling Ray Jr. and telling him it was a 2 man job. He ended up just taking it down and off and putting it in the garage and saying he would be back the next day with help. 3 days later, having heard nothing, I called and 2 missed appointments later someone else came out, didn't get it installed and said someone would be back. Hearing nothing again for 4 days I called and Ray said he would be out himself to fix it. 2 missed appointments later he did finally make it, fixed and installed the security screen door. Works like a dream, however, from the moment she realized he was finished and gone (he never said a word, just left), she has been unable to close the front entry door. Even though we were calling his personal cell phone and leaving messages because he wouldn't answer, and sending text messages telling him he was leaving an 82 year old woman alone with a door that would not close because of his work, he never got back to us or bothered to fix it. | |I am tired of trying to chase him down to do the work he is supposed to have done. Now I am simply going to write reviews, which by the looks of it mean nothing to them, and contact the State Licensing Board. They are licensed and bonded so hopefully they can help. Dealing with California Glass has been a nightmare. I can't help but think when Ray Sr. ran the business his attention to Customer Service must have been far better, or I don't understand how the company could have stayed in business this long. Any good work this company did disappeared a long time ago amidst my frustrations in trying to get them to fix things they had done incorrectly."

Did the work quickly. Needed the right glass so had to do a premeasure. Took 20 minutes for installer to replace. Luckily it was the sliding window of the two panels. Clean up was done when project completed.

It went well. They are not cheap but it is all worth it. They have replaced 6-windows/door glass in home over the last 12 years, and have done excellent work each time. They recently replaced the windshield glass in 2001 Jeep, also excellent result.
Description of Work: They replaced my custom sliding glass door.
