For years I had been contemplating a solar PV system to subsidize the cost of my electricity. Looking back, I am a bit perturbed at myself for not doing it sooner. I think the biggest reason was that I had no clue as to how it worked, how much it would cost, what the payback time was, etc. My thinking was probably what everyone else thinks....that Solar is unproven technology and its way too expensive for me to move forward. That is where Solar Universe Tri Valley comes into play. Sales ProcessOne of our neighbors had installed Solar from Solar Universe. I decided to place a call to, at least, just become more educated about the industry and gain a better understanding of cost, ROI, etc. The salesman from Solar Universe, Kent, came out to meet with my wife and I. He was extremely well prepared and took us through his presentation. He was able to take the fear, confusion and unknowns out of the equation for us. As I became more intrigued he was able to answer all of my questions. What I liked most about the sales process was that he wasn't interested in selling me the biggest system my home could take. He was more interested in downsizing the project and only selling me what I needed . Kent took the time to analyze my actual PGand E usage to recommend a system that would, in theory, zero out my electric bill at the end of the year. If we needed bigger, we could always go back and add panels to the system.To not bore you with any more detail, at the end of his presentation, proposal and ultimately with our commitment to purchase a system -- my final question to him was a simple one. Why doesn't every home in CA have a solar PV system on their roof? They can take you through all different kinds of financing options as well if that better suits your needs. Installation ProcessThe installation process performed by Solar Universe was flawless. The team of guys were extremely professional, respectful of our home and a happy group during the whole process. They worked cleanly, efficiently and their work was impeccable. An extremely short turn around from start to finish.....less than a week.After the installation was complete, the work was reviewed with me in detail and I was given a timeline to manage expectations of next steps with PGand E, etc. Post InstallationFollow up has been incredible with this company. From my salesman Kent still answering questions and checking in, to the communication from inside informing me of ongoing next steps with PGand E. Truly incredible customer service to be had after installation. I do certainly feel like a valued customer. Solar ReviewIt is still only a few months after my system was completed, but I thought it important to talk briefly about performance of the system and how I feel about the investment moving forward. To be able to view the live website of my power production from anywhere anytime of day and/or to go out to the meter and watch as it spins backwards is quite liberating. Aside from the corniness of and quot;going greenand quot;, it does feel good to be reducing my carbon footprint and not relying on the power company I anticipate a zero balance each year for my electric bill and we have a swimming pool that requires a filter pump to run daily. I am a firm believer in solar and the savings it can represent. I truly wish I would have researched years ago as I would now be a long way into my return on investment for having gone solar. Do yourself a favor, give Solar Universe a call and take an hour out of your day to have them come by and give you a presentation. You won't regret it....
