HATCH BUILDING COMPANY

Noticed leak from drain onto outside wall, causing greenish growth on outside foundation. Also noticed mildewy smell from under sink in kitchen. I got bids from several contractors, and chose Hatch. I was asked to make a $300.00 deposit before they would schedule the work. They arrived on time on the first day, were courteous, but only removed the siding outside and made a parts list of items to purchase. I was under the impression they would begin substantive work, as I took time off from work to be there. I waited the next day for several hours before calling to see when they would arrive (again took time off work), and was told they'd be there the following day. A phone call would have been nice. Late in that day one of the workers showed up unannounced and asked if I had a place to store the cabinets they'd bought. Luckily I had room in my garage, so he unloaded them for install the next day. The third day they were several hours late arriving, but stayed late (9:00 P.M.) to get as much done as possible. They cleaned up fairly well, but left messes on our stove, kitchen island, and in the cabinets themselves. They finished most of the work the fourth day, but after they left I noticed a couple of things which needed to be done yet. It took three more trips (over four days) to finish up with all the detail work. I asked them to arrive at 7:00 A.M each day (I couldn't take any more time off work). The first day they were late, the second was close to on time, the third I got a call saying the worker was sick, and the fourth they were close to on time. We still needed to do a fair amount of cleanup ourselves, but they tried hard to match up the paint, and tried reasonably hard to make us happy with the product. All that being said, we are happy with the work, my wife LOVES the new sink and cabinets, and I think that, after some of the horror stories I have heard from friends about other contractors, I think these guys were pretty good, and I would certainly use them again, as well as recommend them to others.
