The fence company installing the new fence could also remove the bricks at no additional charge but had cautioned me they might damage the bricks. They recommended I find a contractor that could remove the bricks without damage. I left messages for Gonzalez Masonary on Friday and the following Monday. On Wednesday I received a call back from the phone of Ismael Gonzalez. He was available to come out the next day to give me an estimate, but I explained that 2 other companies had said the brick might be damaged during removal. He was willing to come out and look at the job for himself, but after more questioning and describing the situation he admitted that he was likely to damage the brick but said he might be able to find similar brick to replace any damaged brick. I didn't want to waste his time so I did not have him come look at the job. I felt that it sounded like he would do the same quality of work as the fence company so it wasn't worth paying extra for a different contractor to do the job that was already covered with the fence installation. To help me budget for a future project he gave me a rough estimate to replace a rectangular concrete driveway with average pavers costing $4 to $7 per paver. He quoted $10K to $12 K for a 20 ft by 35 ft driveway. He did not look at the job.
